Pot would not seem to be 'the cause' - however, and having nothing specifically to do with this case, people at around 23 - especially lonely guys, who are stoned out and essentially in the pot 'bubble soup' mind/world-outlook; and going on the constant goodie raids -every day- which has them out of shape, out of touch and in a whirlwind of disconnect and confusion, as so many can be - have a fairly solid base for feeling bad about their life.
Being young and not knowing it is all so very temporary, - well...What might have been a better road for him to have traveled, just at this time in his life?

Let me get this right. He gave up cannabis, then moved along to pills and booze and cannabis is to blame? It's a sad story, but to blame a substance he stopped using, is sadness run-amuck.

I am very sorry for the family' loss. However, in the article it states that he was a 'happy-go-lucky' guy who was trying to quit the pot. When he QUIT the pot, and started on pills, he killed himself.
'The inquest heard how alcohol, Diazepam and the anti-depressant Amitriptyline were found in his system – and their packets by the side of the lake. Coroner Ian Singleton ruled that Zowie had taken his own life.'
so what really killed him was either an underlying psychosis that was being treated effectively by the pot, and when he quit, it returned in full force, or, quite frankly, the "legal" pills given to him. While it may be admirable that he wanted to quit, pills are never the answer. I understand the family wants a reason for this. Only, the reason they have chosen to blame is not the reason he is gone.
This is not only my opinion, but scientific fact: Nearly every depression and stop-smoking pill (sometime one in the same) have been PROVEN to cause suicidal tendencies. Not Pot. Pot has been proven to do a lot of things, like slow the effects of cancer, parkinsons, epilepsy, depression, and even asthma, but never ever has it been linked to suicide. Pills have. Pills Pill Pills, all these doctors like to talk about addiction, then give out chemicals that alter our thoughts, our bloodflow, even the way our organs work. In fact, this man may have commited suicide much earlier if it werent for the pot. Society looks so far down their nose at pot, and this may be why the family thinks the way they do, and Im sorry, again, very sorry for their loss, but they are wrong about the cause. - 2 years ago
