I welcome and appreciate opinion from the "further left" green/nader perspective. We ultimately are working largely for the same things whether from the inside or outside of a party. I'm glad to see you connecting the dots on tangible issues rather than conspiracy theories.

Thanks to Current89 for another great interview. I really appreciate AsherP's comments, I agree with over 90% of them. I appreciate his having been all over the map, so to speak, that he says he is from America. That is cool to have gotten to live in so many places and learn about them.
Thank you to AsherP for sharing so much of yourself on Current.

Great interview. I always enjoy your videos even when I don't agree with your take but they are always well thought out and fun to watch. I do agree more often than disagree though.
I came very close to voting for Rev. Billy for Mayor of NYC, but Bloomberg's violation of the will of the people was something I took very seriously and I had to go with the more viable candidate. I did love Rev. Billy's speeches.
Cheers for all of your groups. It was nice of you to start a Republican group.
Keep up the good work. I love the Punk Patriot submissions.

I thought i moved around a lot, damn. Asher has got an amazing perspective. I really enjoyed this. It was good to see him not play the topics to any type of status quo, then go on to explain how they are equally important. I learned quite a bit about the U.S. from this interview of Asher. Well done. Keep up the good work.

I think I see his problem. It's mine too. He's omni. It's hard to focus. But if you really want to get something done you have to focus.

Fascinating. I too enjoyed the video response. I agree with many of asherp's points (though I disagree with many others). I thought his comments on the importance of watching Congress were particularly important. One of the most frustrating aspects of reading many of the posts on Current is the frequency with which Obama is blamed for a governmental failure when he has little or no influence over the branch or other governmental entity that is truly to blame.
I have seen posts already, for example, blaming Obama for the recent Supreme Court Decision involving corporations and whether depriving them of the right to contribute directly to campaigns or campaign advertising is a denial of their First Amendment right to freedom of speech. Even aside from Current, I had a staunchly conservative Republican put his finger in my chest the other evening and tell me that the ruling was Obama's fault because after all it was Obama's court... Since the guy was about 6"5" and 250 pounds with very little body fat, I decided to just give him a noncommital smile.
In any event, thank you 89 for bringing us an intriguing glimpse into the background of another regular contributor.

cztheday:
Good point on Obama. But asherp was right on when he said than all the things under Bush still exist. It's just that we don't see more new Bush type things happening, well maybe. There is that Afghanistan escalation and now a Haiti occupation. But Obama is kind of held hostage by the real power in Washington, Wall Street and the Pentagon. So perhaps his heart is in the right place and occasionally he squeaks some stuff by. But really, I'd like to see him grow some kahunas. On the other hand, that could get him killed, considering the Nazi authoritarian conservatives that have taken over the Republican party.

I would have told that guy to go fuck himself. If he decks you, who's gonna look bad?
I actually had this happen to me. A guy in a cool black pick up was having a little shit fit breakdown because I cut him off at a freeway exit. Hey, I almost missed it. Of course, I have a piece of shit car and any self respecting brand spanking new pickup driver ain't gonna take no piece of shit driving punk cutting him off. So this asshole does his thing and I actually forget the details. But it ended up with me playing chicken driving next to him, coming within about a quarter of a inch from scratching his beautiful paint job, and he had to hit his breaks to avoid me. It really pissed him off.
So we get to a stop light and his homey (or boyfriend) in the passenger seat jumps out, comes over to my car, opens my door and starts beating my face with his fist. Now I had just come from a dentist visit and was numb. Didn't feel a thing. Plus I was in shock or else I might have locked the door or took off or something. But after a couple of punches didn't phase me he realized that he appeared like a car jacker, punching out a guy at a stop light. So he ran back to the pickup and they sped off. I didn't do a damned thing.

Yeah, it is absurd to blame Obama for that Supreme Court ruling not only for the obvious reason that Supreme Court Justices are their own human beings who make their own decisions based on legal precedent, but also when it was the "liberal activist judges" who were the ones who were in the dissenting minority-- including Obama's only appointee Justice Sotomayor.
Meanwhile George W Bush appointees like Chief Justice Roberts ruled in favor of the corporations. But again-- don't blame Bush, blame his appointee.
His appointees didn't get there without a vote from Congress first.

Very cool interview. Its going to be hard to follow up such a nice video interview with a normal written down interview! I was not aware that you hosted so many groups. It was very cool of you to create a Current Republicans group.

I particularity like how asherp pointed out that all of the topics I asked him to rank are interrelated.
NOTE: Interviews with Saladin and Conniepae are on there way. Also, I'll have a post on some challenges/interviews/ideas for the US Politics group on Wednesday.
