Sarpy County Lt. Steve Grabowski tells 1110 KFAB they found more than 90 videos on YouTube showing David Johnson and his 17 and 19 year old sons smoking pot. Investigators also seized 50 bongs and pipes from Johnson's house during the January 12th search.

Johnson has been charged with misdemeanor child abuse and possesion of drug paraphernalia and marijuana. Johnson's oldest son Tavis was cited for marijuana possesion, and the 17 year old is now in foster care.

The Internet has become a tool for law enforcement officials in recent years and Grabowski says anyone who engages in illegal online activity
can end up in jail.

    • I think putting the 17 year old in foster care will fuck him up way more than smoking a joint with his dad. Our system is stupid, because the people responsible for representing us in our government are stupid. Hardly anybody actually thinks. They just memorize dogma. Who's the bad guy in this story? The cops. The story should be about fascist cops forcefully breaking apart a family. It is legitimate, and intelligently debatable, to be of the opinion that 17 year olds are too young, but why does the response have to be to destroy families? That's far worse than anything marijuana could have done.

    • I realize that many people become police officers because they want to serve and protect, and to do the right thing by serving their community, and then I'm sure they quit once they realize that is no longer in the job description. Every day it seems I see another YouTube video of a gang of police officers beating up some poor citizen for no reason, or hear of some murder committed by a police officer because he thought some kid's squirt gun was an AK-47. I mean, seriously, when was the last time you heard of a police officer solving a murder rather than committing one?

After all the YouTube videos featuring police brutality how come they are never brought to justice? Probably because they are out and about arresting innocent people for having a good time.

    • These sheriffs should be charged with "conspiracy to prevent a cure for cancer" and possibly additional charges regarding the desire to lock a human being in a cage over a plant that grows naturally on the planet Earth. Police officers like this should be ashamed of themselves, they are only serving to increase the profits of Big Pharma while at the same time causing undo harm and emotional stress to the good peace-loving Rastafarians of the world. Do the enforcers get a cut of the profits made by Big Pharma created by this fake "War on Drugs?" I doubt it... So they are not even rewarded for supporting tyranny.

And all you sheeple that agree with this case, shame on you too! We should all be ashamed of ourselves that we would allow human beings to be locked in a cage over a medicinal plant that has never, ever, ever, ever caused an overdose, where the only harmful effect is laughter and the munchies! I am ashamed to be a member of the human race, we sell out our fellow brothers and sisters for so little these days.

If you want to go a long way towards making this country better for all, you will support the end of drug prohibition. Anyone that would enforce prohibition is supporting as well as enabling gang violence and anarchy in the streets.

Honestly, drug prohibition is used by The Powers That Be to justify the growing police state. Look around you, police officers are armed with M4 assault rifles and body armor, and crime continues to go up and up. Nothing is getting any better, it is only getting worse. Doing the same thing and expecting different results is the very definition of insanity. By supporting insanity, you also become the victim of an insane world. This is the kind of news report that would make Adolph Hitler a very proud man -- his dream, finally coming true. If you still think you are free, name one thing you can do without a license or a permit? And even then, as long as they can issue a license or permit, they can take it away -- so, essentially we are all slaves just begging for our master to leave us in peace.

Well you never know when a bunch of people are going to come over. They all bring diffrent types of herb. You don't want to smoke whitewidow in the same pipe or bong as you do skunk maybe a pipe or bong for the orange kush then another for the mexican. God knows you don't want to smoke some good Herbs in the same pipe you smoke the mexican herbs in because it taste pretty bad some times. Not that I have a bunch of pipes an bongs. I'm like you just one bong and a couple of pipes both of which were gifts do me just fine. However for those that are picky about what they smoke out of they have a bunch. Well now the cops have a bunch. Besides a can't see spending that kind of money for something the cops are going to take.

    • A dad sitting around drinking with his 17 and 19 years old sons would not be news. It would be bad, but every casual drinker would not 'feel the guilt'. Different people do dumb things for dumb reasons. Remember the 'balloon boy'?

When people do things, they must be willing to take the consequences. If he didn't know it was dumb to do, he does now. But, this should not be a factor in the cannabis discussion. When cannabis is relegalized, people will still have to act responsibly, or live with the consequences for their actions. There will still be accountability.

    • They're complete idiots, I agree... but they're just adding to the non-violent drug offenders in jail that are wasting our taxes. I guess there are bigger wastes to worry about, though. (Read: government bailouts)

    • This was just dumb. As a social worker, I feel like it wasn't the marijuana use so much as the stupidity of posting many videos showing them doing it in a public forum. I have to question the judgement of a parent or guardian that would be such an idiot.

    • why would they post videos of them smoking? thats straight up retarded sorry to say but i know i wouldn't be posting videos of me smoking pot thats just a really dumb and tool move to do. Like the majority of people would say "these types of peeps give us a bad name" and its true. why can't ppl just be chill with there extracurricular activities, enjoy the nature or just lay back and relax instead of posting dumb videos like that. Im sorry to be so straight up but they got what they deserve although it is kind of sad that a child had to be sent to foster care but why post something stupid like that. Now ima go make a video and show how cool I am to the world bahahahaha jk.
Yall peeps be safe. One love and peace to the world!!

    • What were they thinking? Even if the laws are changed, making videos and smoking in public takes away from the issue. The issue of cannabis hemp is more important than a few people getting high. Why weren't they drinking? Sad, sad, sad. Some people want their 15 minutes of fame. I guess they will get theirs now.

But then again, couldn't they say they were just acting?

It was really the fact that the police recognized them and went to their home to raid it hoping to find cannabis on the premises. If they hadn't found anything, then the cops would have looked real foolish and probably gotten mad screaming "Where did you hide the F'n Weed!!"

Because it's all about getting high. Medical marijuana? A charade. Doctors making a lot of money writing 'scripts. People making up illnesses to get the doc to write them one. "Cannabis Collectives" owners making a load of money. it isn't about helping the few people that could actually benefit from it. it's about getting high. You can make up all the bullshit in the world, like the guy that keeps posting about how it cures cancer. But it's all about getting stoned.

You are being foolish. My parents are on medical marijuana. My dad is very skinny. He was able to get off of dangerous, highly-addictive narcotic pain meds and get his appetite back because of his medical marijuana. My dad is a cancer survivor, broke his back multiple times, has liver disease, and diabetes. Without his medication he is constantly nauseous and loses a bunch of weight and gets more sick. He's not making it up! How foolish of you to just simply ignore the scientific data which shows, objectively, the medical benefits of marijuana.

Doctors do not write prescriptions for marijuana because big pharma can't patent it and profit off of it (which is one of the main reasons why marijuana is illegal and people like you fall for the propagandistic justifications for denying our freedom). It is a doctor's recommendation and they don't get any money for it. Nor do the caretakers who grow the medicine for patients. You are quite uninformed. It's very telling that the opposition doesn't even have the basic facts right, and that there is only black and white. Write and wrong. People who do not recognize the color gray jump to conclusions based on emotions and not facts or empathy. They rely on the system to tell them what is right and wrong. No thinking required.

    • Can anyone tell me what they did besides stand up against some of the most racist and unjust laws our country has created? And in what way have they posed a threat to our society? In foster care because of a plant? Child abuse? A plant so good for everything except for the many laws placed upon it keeping it out of the hands of the people. This system is a joke keeping some persons pockets fat as Santa on Christmas Eve and breaking up families, well I guess that's really no laughing matter. We really need to change this around now. My heart goes out to the family.

Todays #1'Free The Weed' tune is dedicated to all of Nebraska's Sarpy County Law Enforcement officers. I recommend you go online and look up the history of cannibus yourselves. Rick Steve's of PBS's Rick Steve's Europe is a good place to start.

Obviously it's pointless arguing with you, but I'll take a whack at it.

The father would have been charged with child abuse if he had given a minor alcohol, which is also technically "just a plant." This isn't some vendetta against pot smokers, or as you propose, against people of color. It's a system enforcing the law, and whether you agree with it or not, that's what a system is supposed to do. The system would be a joke if this idiot WASN'T arrested, with 90 videos of evidence in front of them.

Pointless. I'm not sure. I hear what your saying, I just don't agree with you. If you look at the history of why cannibus was made illegal and you look at the new statistics of who is getting arrested/prosecuted and put in jail for cannibus you might find some validity to my statement. If not thats o.k. As far as alcohol goes, there is no comparing the two. How many deaths again was it that cannibus caused this year, last year, the year before etc? There has been nothing but a vendetta against pot smokers since it was unjustly made illegal. And yO terrorist I agree with you. Bad logic on the fathers part no doubt.

    • I agree that it is blatant stupidity to post pics or vids of yourself doing anything illegal. That being said how can you charge the man with child abuse and the son with possession!?!?!!? Who is the culprit??? If the man was indeed abusing the child and forcing him to smoke then how can you possibly charge the child with possession!?!? Just plain stupid!

Apparently you're the one that is just plain stupid. Learn to read. There are two sons. The 19 year-old (the adult) is charged with possession. The father is charged with abuse as relates to the 17 year old (underage) son.

No, it's just bullshit. Jump on the anti-Monsanto bandwagon. What's does it have to do with some stupid fuck smoking dope with his underage kid?

He should be in prison. At least give the kid a chance to grow up without any addictions.

Marijuana is not addictive. You can quit it at the drop of a hat without negative health effects. Also, by your reasoning he should stay away from being addicted to coffee. Also by your reasoning, he should smoke marijuana instead of going on legal narcotic pain meds (for example) if he ever needs them.
