Incredibly the 22-year-old, who was knifed by a mugger on her way home from work, failed to notice the appalling injury and managed to calmly stroll to safety.
The office worker had grappled with her attacker when he snatched her handbag as she walked to her parents' house in the Russian capital Moscow.
But she was so shocked by the ordeal she didn't know that the thug had buried a kitchen knife in her neck just fractions of an inch from her spinal cord.
When she got home her horrified parents rushed her to hospital where surgeons managed to remove the blade without damaging Julia's spine.
One medic said: "Shock had kicked in and her body prevented her from feeling any pain. She simply walked home without feeling the knife in her back."

Yep, I fell ice skating and gashed my eyebrow area open as a 5 year old. I walked about a block and a half with blood pouring out all over me. I walked through the house and into the living room where my parents were talking to the minister and just stood there, like nothing had happened. I required multiple stitches. Now that could have been both shock and 'fight or flight' together.
The 'Fight or Flight" is, also, what allows a 100# mother to lift a vehicle off of her trapped child.

I wish I had been warned about the graphic picture, (I'm about as squeamish as they come) but it is absolutely amazing and I'm glad she's ok.

I've been stabbed 11 times and that's how it felt. At first they were like quick pinches and then I just felt nothing. It wasn't painful at all cause my nerves went into shock. They had to operate a lung and the point of nearly dying actually felt good as if I were relaxed floating in a pool of water. It was so easy to give up and just let go of my breath but I managed to stay alive.

Super true! I had a baseball hit me directly in the nose when I was in my teens. I initially just laughed it off for a few seconds until I looked at my shirt to see that it was covered in blood. Turns out my nose was broke and the pain didn't kick in until the adrenaline went away, which was less than fun.
