Turkish girl buried alive for talking to boys

The body of a 16-year-old girl police say was buried alive by relatives in an "honor" killing carried out as punishment for talking to boys has been discovered in Kahta, Turkey.

Turkish police discovered the body after acting on an anonymous tip. The tipster told police that the girl was killed after a family council meeting, and had been buried under a chicken pen. Police say that the girl had complained two months earlier that her grandfather beat her for talking to boys.

The girl, identified by police only by her initials M.M., was said to have a large amount of soil in her stomach and lungs, indicating she had been buried alive.

"The autopsy result is blood-curdling. According to our findings, the girl - who had no bruises on her body and no sign of narcotics or poison in her blood - was alive and fully conscious when she was buried," one anonymous expert said.

The girl had been reported as missing by her family. Police have arrested her father, mother and grandfather. Her mother has been released but her father and grandfather are awaiting trial.

The case is expected to bring further attention to the issue of "honor" killings in Turkey. Official figures indicate that more than 200 "honor" killings take place each year - almost half of all murders in Turkey.

      I've heard and heard that. Maybe that's why you say it - but where are the stats? There are no stats.
      When this happens, it happens inside a community. These people, the men - and the women they hold control over, all seem to agree.

      They are the people of the community and they all seem to agree.

      I am to the point of plain NOT BELIEVING these are particularly isolated cases. These are what surfaces from Muslim communities. They are, I can only surmise, the tip of a huge and hideous iceberg.

      This is like the old southerners saying, "Oh there are so few incidents, it isn't the whole community.. " But it was. It was the whole community.

      It's endemic. Its little boys raised in a religious box - which is a profound intellectual nullifier and social pall, to believe anything they do is right and women are to be controlled under threat of death.

      They must have it right, after all, if women were allowed their way, they wouldn't have a thing to do with such undeveloped, backward, pea-brained males.

      That's why the men are like that. They can't stand on their own feet as human beings; - and their women would figure that out.

    • Its hard not to feel very deep prejudice against these people. The ones in the SW who abandoned their daughter for getting raped a few months ago, imho should be deported back to thier insane repulsive hate hell.

      Attention tipsters, please report any "family council meetings" before or while they are going on to authorities so there is a chance to save the victims before the maniacs come up with an insane lethal punishment.
