Any and all bickering between people on the right and left is irrelevant until we kick corporations the fuck out of our legislative process. The country has been pushed so far in each direction that we’re meeting somewhere completely off the political spectrum (an alternate universe, perhaps, where the People actually matter). Have you noticed the growing numbers of and similarities between Dennis Kucinich type supporters and Ron Paul type supporters? Tea Partiers on the right and grass roots activists on the left essentially have the same complaints, and the big one, the most important one, shit…the only one that matters right now is

    • I fully support what Maddow and Olbermann are doing. They are educating us, not trying to tell us what to do or how to think - and more importantly, they aren't playing on irrational fears and dysfunctional characteristics to manipulate people for personal gain. We must respect them for that!

We need to cut the strings of corporations from government completely.

You're right that they don't play on irrational fears, but I think they unnecessarily overplay rational ones sometimes. Again, my criticism is that they focus too much attention on vilifying Tea Partiers, when--in mobilizing against corporations-- I think many people on the right and left would be on the level. All mainstream media is guilty of preventing this by constantly perpetuating the polarization, MSNBC included.

    • Corporations are NOT PEOPLE. They should not and must not have rights reserved for people. Fuck the conservatives on the SCOTUS who are in the pockets of big business.

    • "You can bash unions and ACORN all you want but whether you admit it or not there is a huge difference between organizations that represent the interest of people and corporations that represent the interest of profits."

This presupposes that the ACORN and union leadership care little about profits, which is amusing; but what about the CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, PBS, etc. corporations that not only care A LOT about profits but A LOT about promoting their libneral brand of politic/politiians. That they're in the tank for your empty suit seems to be your only concern. What say we include them in this free speech ban?

If by "free speech ban" you mean banning them and their owners from giving campaign donations, then yes...let's include them.

As a side note, the only of the news sources you listed I consider to be liberal is maybe PBS. If you're comparing them to Fox News, well, then I'd say that anything is liberal in comparison to that. Anyway, they all protect rather than expose the government so I'm not going to spend to much time defending any of them.

Since when does the MSM promote liberal politics?

Give me a fucking break, they purposefully alienate left candidates like Kucinich.

And if the media is such a left-wing conspiracy, why in the fuck have we had conservatives running the country for the past 30 years? They don't seem to be very successful yeah?

    • I agree with you, but people on the whole don't seem to care about fair elections. I think they like the political bickering and polarization. Hence the phrase, you get the government you deserve. Hell, 2000 was stolen right out from under our feet and the perpetrators of that treachery are now making millions on the lecture circuit. That speaks volumes about Americans who talk the talk but don't walk the walk when it comes to really caring about representative government.

I disagree that people don't care about fair elections. There was a lot of anger in 2000, but we simply failed to mobilize. Every president we've ever had has committed war crimes, so just because we're unable to bring them to justice doesn't mean that we don't care.

I also disagree that people "like" bickering, generally speaking. I think we are encouraged (propagandized even) into hating the other side. Sure, I think the Tea Partiers are complete rubbish, but I'm sick to death of Maddow & Olberman telling me I need to hate them. This is the one cause I can conjure up where people in general agree regardless of political affiliation.

      Thanks for your thoughts!

I think you just refuted your own claim. My point was that they point out why they should be loathed way too often. Instead of constantly focusing on how Tea Partiers differ from leftist views, why not focus on the why? I think we'll find a lot of similarities if we do so.

Well, if they loved to research like you do then I doubt their claims would be so wild. I'm not defending any of their solutions. I haven't heard one that I even find logical. Thanks for chiming in!
