actually another thing occurs to me, this kind of madness is obviously the fault of all those woman's magazines that perpetuate the stupid idea that unless you're a super thin western looking woman, then you aren't beautiful.
its sick really. - 2 years ago

Screw this chick. First off she kinda does look like Jessica Alba so I'm sure with the right amount of money she could look more like her. Secondly people like her, and by that I mean desperate individuals willing to go to insane lengths to keep a "loved one" come a dime a dozen so I won't be losing any sleep over this one. Lastly if we're going to talk about the horrors of plastic surgery we need to address the elephant in the room.
Carrot top is out of control. The world needs to come together as one and stop this guy before he goes any further. He started off as a soulless ginger and now he looks like a soulless, transvestite, roid fueled hobgoblin. It's wrong, and it keeps me up at night.

Although this is kinda romantic, that's pretty damn extreme.
You have to wonder what psychological damage makes you want to do something like that?
Is love worth carving your face up for?
I think she just needs a nice guy to do the "bone dance" with. - 2 years ago

Even Jessica Alba thinks it's a terrible idea since Imitation is not the sincerest form of flattery for Jessica Alba.
The actress said Saturday she's been distressed by Internet reports about a Chinese woman who is having a plastic surgery makeover to look like Alba in hopes of getting her lover back.
"I think you should never have to change yourself like that," Alba said. "If somebody loves you, they'll love you no matter what."

there are a TON of celebrity makeover surgeries going on all the time! Not just actors getting plasticized but people just like Xiaoqing getting them. Motives may be different, some like to play in pornos or as doubles in films. The psychological effect needs to be looked at.

I find this sad as well as she's a normal looking asian girl who is now trying to imitate an american woman of latino heritage, its just sad she's not proud of her own background and culture. I don't understand why people want to assume the physical identity of someone else.

I don't think someone should be specifically proud of their background and culture. I think she should find an easy and genuine pride in herself. Since she's young and beautiful.
It's strange that people look for something they think they lack and the whole time, if they dropped that idea that is taking up their vision, they'd be everything they've been hoping to find.People get locked onto an idea, hold onto it and go round and round with it - and do not see that that very idea has, long ago, become a stupid anchor and the only thing that is preventing them from having exactly what they were searching for by latching onto it in the first place.

I'm glad to see that the doctor acknowledges that changing her to look exactly like Alba won't solve her problems, and that there is a bit of psychological legwork to do. I think she's a very pretty girl. It's heartbreaking to hear that this is her choice, and that if her ex doesn't take her back that she'll live alone.
But the interview brings up an interesting point that I'm finding more poignant the more time I spend out here in East Asia: Plastic surgery is normal, if not outright encouraged. I had my students talk to me about it, and they told me that here in South Korea, parents will buy their daughters plastic surgery as graduation gifts from high school and middle school. Middle school! Things like the eyelid surgery to look more "Western," nose jobs and face reconstruction. I'm not surprised to hear that it is viewed favorably in China when it seems to be a normal thing in the more industrialized nations in the region.

This is just sad. Societies that promote women to feel worthless unless they are physically beautiful are to blame for this insanity.

This is really sad. She is such a beautiful girl already. Hopefully she realizes that she dodged a bullet by leaving her psycho ex BEFORE she dices up her face. And how unethical for the plastic surgeons to do this surgery at all, never mind for free advertising.

Would it be better if they charged her for it? I mean dont get me wrong im not a fan of cosmetic surgery at all(looks too fake and is potentially damaging) but some people have obsessions and there will always be people available to fufill these obsessions. Its the way of the world.
