I'm so proud of you, Robin Cook... you're the only man to emerge with honour from the Iraq debacle

Excerpt:

For nine weeks, they have been making their solemn way to the Queen Elizabeth Conference Centre in Westminster to account for their actions - or inactions - in the build-up to war.

More than 70 witnesses have given evidence to the Chilcot Inquiry; among them the former Prime Minister, Tony Blair, and many of his closest ministers and acolytes.

One by one they have sought to justify their own role in what many regard as the greatest foreign policy failure of the modern era.

Yet as the inquiry next week adjourns the main phase of its public hearings (a handful of additional witnesses, among them Gordon Brown, will be summoned in the weeks ahead), one vital voice has not been heard. Nor will it ever be.

    • At least the UK had the guts to carry the investigation this far exposing Tony Blair for his ambitious quest for power. Obama still sits in his own____ and lets his Bush pals roam the country free. This is the only nation where political criminals are awarded for their evil being and nature. Kissinger the Viet Nam father and the only Nixon member to go free. Why??? He came out smelling like roses. I still see those roses as he roams freely through the halls of washington. The war monger.

    • Robin Cook stuck to his principals, good for him, and bad for Tony Blair, for not listening to him or the people.
The days of elected officials listening to the people who voted for them appear to be over. At least here in the US.
It is time for a complete house cleaning. Change can be good.
