The Times reports that The Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan William, said the Anglican church could split over opposition with issues of 'women bishops and gay priests'.
"But he conceded that, unless Anglicans could find a way to live with their differences over women bishops and homosexual ordination, the Church would change shape and become a multi-tier communion of different levels — a schism in all but name."
So Rowan Williams will try to stop the split by creating a multi-tier communion, which will likely keep the differing views between groups in the religion, but allow him not to lose some Anglican followers.
