Fagbug Short

On the 11th Annual National Day of Silence, Erin Davies was victim to a hate crime in Albany, New York. Because of sporting a rainbow sticker on her VW Beetle, Erin's car was vandalized, left with the words "fag" and "u r gay" placed on the driver's side window and hood of her car. Despite initial shock and embarrassment, Erin decided to embrace what happened by leaving the graffiti on her car. She took her car, now known worldwide as the "fagbug," on a 58-day trip around the United States and Canada. Along the way, Erin discovered other, more serious hate crimes, had people attempt to remove the graffiti, and experimented with having a male drive her car. After driving the fagbug for one year, Erin decided to give her car a makeover.

    • Just watched the short and now I want to see the whole film. Erin truly is an inspiration. I got chills in several parts of the short. I especially was touched by what Volkswagen did and now I am seriously thinking about buying a Volkswagen again. I used to have an old Robin's Egg Blue Bug in the 80's. I had it for so long and drove so many miles on it that I had to get a rebuilt engine for it. I loved that car and I think I love this film and Erin, too.

    • Hate crimes take so many levels. Glad they only vandalized her car instead of physically hurting her. After checking out the slideshow on the website, I'd love to see documentary. And I totally give props to VW America for offering to sponsor her. That's great.

      the video is finally done processing. now there is nothing in the way of you seeing the fagbug short :) fagbug is a feature length documentary but thought it would be cool to get a short of it on current...let me know what you think!
