Foxheads wonder why 'liberal media' laugh when right-wingers claim blizzards disprove global warming | Crooks and Liars

kennymotown
It's amazing that people still think global warming means the planet should never have another snow storm. Very funny but, since 1970 the atmosphere has 4% more moisture in it, thus the storms deliver more precipitation in weather related incidents. That means for you thick headed ignorant FOX viewers even if it's cold it will be snow and lots more of it.

    • Like Ive said a many of times. Most conservatives are to pigheaded to figure out things for themselves. They would rather follow the with the "pack mentality"

    • No conservative in this thread attempted to dispute any actual science.

They relied on the argument that "they used to call it 'global warming'. Its cold, so they must be wrong"

its like playing chess with a three year old.

Guys, please avoid the use of terms like "conservative" as an insult: the irony is those who are true conservatives (fiscal, environmental) like me are not appreciative of being bundled with these pseudo-conservatives. Trying to protect what natural resources we have is not a bad thing.

    • Why don't they ever mention that in Vancouver (you know, the place where there's always snow in February) it's been in the 50's and remains in the 50's. The Olympics have had to haul-in snow from elsewhere. If you've been watching, you've seen the rain falling, not snow.
      It's the exact same logic.

"Liberals" or maybe just educated people laugh because erratic weather is a sign of climate change. Proof that the air is getting warmer directly correlates to more snow. Warmer air traps moisture that turns into the snow we see in TX and new England.

    • Global warming or not, that's not the point. We should be taking care of the planet anyway. We should not be destroying it. Cause in the end we'll be the ones destroying our own existence.

    • you know...you in denial and "liberal" hating, GLOBAL WARMING or climate change or whatever you choose to deny it as, FUCKS UP weather patterns and makes things stronger or makes the rare stuff come around. like recent heat waves or snow in every single state but Hawaii.

that is why it is freakishly colder than usual, other times of the year it's been hot as hell. do you kind of see that?

pandaman2105, you know you have too laugh at these people who deny the weather patterns that have been coming true just like the experts predicted. All these deniers have are their sarcastic opinions and idiots they listen to on FOX and the radio. It is extremely funny to see obanaisajoke hang on too his backward beliefs and not embrace what is truly happening to our planet. He would rather throw idiot statements out there for all too see his ignorance.

Uh, I guess some here are unaware of the snow-capped peaks of Mauna Kea (Hawaiian for "white mountain"), found on the Big Island of Hawaii. The thing reaches 13,500 ft, and you can snow-board and ski on it. :)

Yeah, I saw that A.P. headline which claimed there's been snow in all 49 states, except Hawaii: perhaps the fact Hawaii is so far away from the CONUS MIGHT explain why the great blizzard of 2010 didn't hit there?

At any rate, the ecological interactions of the Planet are so very nuanced, and certainly more complicated than any V-8 engine (Which these guys also don't understand). So glad to hear the genuises who didn't even pass High School Earth Science (let alone earn a college degree) edumacate (sic) the rest of us on the great Climate Change scam. Hey, Hannity says it's a scam and that guy's pretty smart!

Now I'm just waiting for Hannity/Rush to learn about ocean acidification (and then 'splain it to their listeners), which is only one aspect of how these moving gears interact:

      http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/80beats/2008/11/25/ocean-acidification-worse-t...

What a breath of fresh air it would be to hear the source(s) of hot air admit they have no clue?

    • FOX news has no idea what its talking about when it come to anything. They are a Zionist led media that just wants to put the fear of god into the world. We are overdue for another ice age. That means more fequent snow storms as time goes by. Here in the deep south were getting more and more icestorms each year.

it means when it's warmer, as it is in the southern hemisphere right now, it's summer there, there's more evaporation. Weather currents take this moisture to other places and release, either as rain or, wait for it, SNOW. The snow fall is more severe because there is more evaporation in the southern hemisphere. But that's actually using science, which, apperantly, some fox heads are very scared of.

I believe they are saying that water vaporizes over the ocean. When the air is warmer there is more energy in the water molecules, so when the molecules collide they do not change physical states (from gas to liquid), precipitate, and fall back to the ocean. This causes more water vapor to accumulate in the air. As air currents sweep the water vapor molecules over land they cool and freeze. The crystalline water falls from the sky as snow. To summarize, warm air over the ocean is associated with more water vapor in the sky, and more snow on land.

My rants do seem to annoy some people. I just can't help it. Occasionally, I get this great big urge to attack my keyboard with orderly keystrokes designed to stimulate connections to occur in other people's brains in hopes that whatever intelligence there is might become amplified.

PS there is no politically-correct way to tell someone they're delusional. Wouldn't do any good: they've gotta figure that out for themselves. I've always felt the best approach is to give then enough rope, and they'll figure out something to do with it (involving their neck).

I agree with your statement, except the tense you used (future vs past). It should be "Ignorance bankrupted and destroyed this country."

IMO, it's already too late to do anything, as we're already past the financial "tipping point" and morons aren't going to change. Prepare for a slow-motion crash, folks, as America spirals into 3rd-World status in the next Century.

I think its funny when you guys make it out like Al Gore brainwashed a bunch of people with his movie. You seem to forget that the type of people that watched the movie were people who read science magazines and were aware of climate change before Al Gore ever had anything to do with it. You guys are all like "Al Gore this and all Gore blah blah blah" Why don't you pick up a scientific magazine or even a biology periodical sometime.

    • Yeah, Colbert pretty much blasted all of these clowns by explaining El Nino-influenced weather patterns on the East Coast as, "think of it as a Nor'eastern, except it's coming from the Southwest".

These deniers will not get it: not even after an "unexpected" warm snap that comes in the next month, causing ALL that snow to melt simultaneously will convince them. Their cities' storm drainage system will overflow into the sewage system, and they'll literally be swimming in their own shit as their city streets flood. It happened in Iowa last year; this year will be no different.

Irony is, then they'll be crying for FEMA help, saying "this flood was unexpected! How could we know this would happen!" Sad part is, they'll probably get it (only to rebuild on the same flood plain, only to have the cycle repeat a few years later).

    • 4 % more moisture in the air, thanks to global warming heating up the oceans and lakes causing evaporation into the atmosphere. More moisture in the air bigger and wetter storms, and if it happens in 32 degree temperature you get more snow. HOW HARD IS THAT TOO UNDERSTAND> Thats why we laugh at deniers, they are stupid people and can not see the forrest threw the trees!

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dana_Perino

Bachelor's degree in mass communications and minors in both political science and Spanish.

The associate director of communications for the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ), where she provided the council with strategic advice on message development, media relations and public outreach.

Clearly qualified - to get the last word in and frame the discussion.

Fellas, arguing subtle distinctions of global climate dynamics with those who've never completed ANY kind of higher education is pointless.... Most of the people engaged in the "debate" no doubt failed chemistry, not to mention critical thinking.

Frankly, unless the other participants know the basics of climatology/meteorology/geology with exposure to evolutionary biology, there's little point. There's just too many idiots willing to pose as 'experts' when they don't even know what they don't know.
