In the movie Food, Inc., Stonyfield Farm "CE-Yo" Gary Hirshberg makes the case for selling his organic yogurt at Walmart, arguing that going big will help propel organic food into the mainstream. Walmart is of course the largest grocery retailer in the US, and these days they sell a lot more organic food than just yogurt. • It is important NOT to buy anything at walmart , because once they out compete other businesses out of existence , they will drop any unprofitable brands they like . This is their business practice . Once walmart becomes the only store left , they likely will drop organic stuff . Then , where will we be ? We all must hang together or assuredly we will hang separately .

    • dollars are bigger than ballots.

wal-mart is the sleazy drug addict that you've been dating for years because you're afraid to be alone. well it's time to stand up for yourself and end this damaging relationship.

americans spend less than 10% of their income on food (even poor americans), compared to 70% for some countries. Is it going to kill you to support walmart instead of someone local? not today, not tomorrow...

    • Walmart is one of only two groceries in my town. When I don't want to stop at the other store I buy the organic produce at Walmart because the quality of the other produce is poor.

    • I keep away from Wally World as much as possible. The one in my town has lousy produce. I once bought a can of something green and it exploded on my shelf a few days later...a hole about the size of an eraser was on the side of the can and gunk was oozing out. No telling how long that can sat in a warehouse.

I do much of my shopping at Trader Joe's, and some at another local grocery store, Albertsons, that has a pretty good line of organic food.
I go to a Whole Foods about once a year, and when I look at their prices, it reminds me why I don't shop there.
The organic line at Albertsons is cheaper than Whole Foods, anyway.

I bought a can of cat food from Walmart that did the same thing. The smell was awful. The stock people throw boxes of cans off the truck. The integrity of the can's structure becomes seriously weakened. I think it could even make people sick.
