Leviticus is pretty much one big book of old testament shit. Among other things it implies that god hates people with acne.

tommic, yes, that was my point above. hatred is difficulct to change, but i agree violence could be the issue here. people being beaten, assaulted, etc. is the larger issue.

The point here isn't that one view is preferred over another. It's that this woman wishes death upon people who don't adhere to the lifestyle standards of an obsolete religious text. That's just sick.

Nobody is attacking heterosexuality, or people with strong convictions in general, but rather what is being attacked here is a specific strong conviction in the form of a fantasy-based, superficial hatred towards an entire group of people. Some people rightfully point out the fact that there really is a correlation between religion and homophobia, such that SOME homophobes use their religious texts to justify said hatred. I went to Christian church until I was 12, so I know about religion. I've read the Bible enough to know who's a good Christian and who's not. I also know well enough to let the bad one's fall on their faces all on their own. I don't claim to be a Christian, because I don't believe in the existence of God beyond a shadow of a doubt.

my sister is in the running for an upcoming miss California pageant. she's raised a lot of money for her pet charity, invisible children, is a member of her high school's gay straight alliance, and in her last community title, she spent over 600 hours in community service, doing things ranging from feeding the homeless, working with disabled kids, to raising money for cancer patients. she's also the nicest person i know. you can take your foot out of your mouth now. the miss america pageant alone raises some 40,000,000 dollars a year in college scholarships for it's contestants alone.

on the other hand, i can understand being upset about the statement that the "miss" from beverly hills made, because it's really bigoted and ignorant. however, making a blanket statement about the girls who run in pageants is also ignorant. maybe do some research next time before shooting off at the mouth.
