Gangsta rap tops heroes on Wal-Mart black history shelf

Vietnam veteran Ronald Price considers himself snubbed by Wal-Mart.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. rejected for inclusion in its Black History Month displays "For Love of Liberty: The Story of America's Black Patriots," a four-hour documentary in which a Who's Who of Hollywood is enlisted to document the history of blacks in the military.

    • When a whole portion of the population actually listens to songs about being a thug, a badass, going to prison, slinging dope, smoking dope all day long, banging "shorties", and tries to emulate them, what do you expect? When being a pimp is looked up to, having whores around is becomming normal behavior, what do you think is going to happen. Wal Mart is just following the money of a certain demographic, mainly, stupid fucks.

    • This is more than just Wal-Mart dictating what we watch. It’s corporate America perpetuating the false perception that all Black men are materialistic, violent, uneducated. selfish gangster rappers that spout poetry for a living. God forbid they try to include a film about honorable, heroic, patriotic, Black men who fought and died for their country in their Black History Month history display. No, they would rather reinforce the perception that we are all thugs or welfare recipients during the one month Blacks try to celebrate their contributions to American society.
