Hmmm. I wonder if Oliver Stone's assessment of Chavez will change now.
OF COURSE NOT! THE FUCKING HOLLYWEIRD MORONS DON'T CARE IF THEIR SOCIALIST HEROES ARE TERRORISTS AND ASSASSINS. WHY? BECAUSE THEY 'CARE ABOUT THE POOR'.

manny0409:
manny, you're not correct.
Spanish President Zapatero is a socialist and was very close to Chavez during the first part of his presidency. However, after Chavez started doing some crazy stuff, both internationally and within Venezuela, and some of that caused Spanish investors to lose their investments (they were appropriated and given to Chavez's chronies), he found himself having to distance himself from Chavez. It was King Carlos who told Chavez to shut up, actually, in defense of Zapatero, which is ironic because they were not really allies in Spain. But Chavez's big mouth doth runneth over. He is so arrogant, ignorant, and vulgar, that he elicits scorn from anyone with any brains or sense of decency. Chavez has repeatedly made personal attacks against the King, and against the Spanish in general, not to mention incredibly incendiary comments against the Church and Christians, although now he pretends to be a Christian.
So, you are partially correct in that the two governments have grown apart. But they were not always like that.
As for the terrorist ties to Chavez, this should come as NO surprise to anyone. Here's why:
In the campaign leading up to election, Chavez did a quick world tour to raise money for hiselection. Where did he go? Cuba, Syria, Libya, Iran and Iraq, if memory serves.
He wrote a letter to the infamous Venezuelan terrorist known popularly as Carlos the Jackal, in which he praised him for his acts and hoped for his release.
One of the first acts Chavez did as President was to invite a spokeman for the FARC to speak before the Parliament.
He has repeatedly made statements supporting the FARC, Hezbollah, ETA, ELN, FSLN, FMLN, Sendero Luminoso, and many other organizations that are or have been terrorist organizations. There have even been allegations that former IRA members have visited Venezuela to train the militias in bomb-making and other "skills".
Chavez formed the Bolivarian Circles, which now serve the identical role as Noriega's "Dignity Batallions", or the Iranian Basiji militia. Their purpose is to serve as a civilian force that does the president's bidding, while appearing to be independent. This gives him "plausible deniability" in their actions. The massacre on El Llaguno bridge has been tied to these Bolivarian Circles militants, as well as MANY other acts of terror and intimidation.
Chavez also created a new "civilian militia" and has armed them with the old Venezuelan FAL rifles (.308 long guns manufactured in Belgium).Chavez had VERY close ties to FARC leaders involved int he kidnappings of Colombian politicians, including Betancourt. In fact, from what the Colombian military has said, it was Chavez's call to the satellite phone of one of their "officers" that allowed the military to target the source of the call and bomb those terrorists, killing them and allowing them to capture his laptop. Data on that laptop revealed that Chavez had "contributed" hundreds of millions of dollars tothe FARC.
So, is it any surprise that Chavez would want to assassinate Uribe? The only surprise is that the Basque separatists are involved, but even that might make sense. Who knows what support he's offered them in return.

I stand corrected then sir thanks. I knew it was someone within the Spanish government that told him to shut up because he was yapping out of the mouth at some summit. Many people within the Venezuelan government and within the country really despise him but his stranglehold on the country is growing so many people are having to stay quiet.
