Washington has money for war, trillions, but not education, not healthcare, not housing, not jobs. Only for war:Washington has a lot of money. It has trillions for war, but no money for housing. Money for war, but no money for health care. Money for war, but no money for education. Money for war - no money to rebuild our cities. No money to create jobs, but money for war.
The Democrats took control of the Congress in 2006 with a promise to end the War in Iraq and it's not enough for this Administration to slow-walk the end of the war, which could continue for years to come. And it's not enough for a Democratic Administration to escalate a war in Afghanistan at a time when there's no clear objective and no end in sight of the contribution of blood and treasure, to a region which has never been conquered by any foreign country.
It's time that we take a stand as citizens. And it's also time to force Congress to take it's Constitutional responsibility seriously. Article 1, Section 8 requires that Congress has the war-making power. It is absolutely imperative that Congress be required to assert it's responsibility on behalf of the American people. Congress is directly elected by the people. And Congress has to respond and step up to it's responsibility to decide if we're going to stay at war in Afghanistan. And so, soon, I will bring to the Floor of the House a Privileged Resolution which will force a vote as to whether or not we stay in Afghanistan.
I ask your support for this Resolution. I ask you to go to that page on our website where you can sign-in and pledge your support to the effort to get out of Afghanistan; and where you can circulate far-and-wide the petitions that will enable us to be able to build a rising, civic movement for peace and social justice in America.
Money for war: Isn't it time that we demanded that the resources of our country be used to create the society that we know that we're capable of building.
Sign the petition: http://www.kucinich.us/
Support the Kucinich privileged resolution to end the war.
A Petition Requesting the U.S. Congress to Stop Funding Additional Troops in Afghanistan.
Whereas, Congress has the responsibility to decide whether to go to war under Article I, Section 8; and
Whereas, it’s not up to the United States to be able to choose the government of other countries, and
Whereas, Congress has the responsibility to focus on conditions at home in America, addressing infrastructure, putting millions of Americans back to work, saving millions of people from foreclosure and helping 47 million people to receive health care; and
Whereas, Congress must acknowledge public sentiment in our communities, where people are desperate for jobs, trying to protect their wage levels, worried about their investments, their savings, their security; now therefore,
I STRONGLY URGE MEMBERS OF CONGRESS TO VOTE AGAINST ANY FUNDING FOR ADDITIONAL TROOPS IN AFGHANISTAN AND THAT CURRENT FUNDING BE REASSESSED AND REDIRECTED TO THE ECONOMIC NEEDS OF AMERICANS AT HOME.

i think that discussions of afghanistan and iraq should be separate. bush brought the U.S. into iraq for illegal reasons. i lost track of the figures, and would appreciate comments. when i stopped counting, the iraq war cost us
$900 billion dollars (7.3 billion a month)...how many military killed...how many wounded, beyond defintion....how many innocent iraquis killed in the name of 'democracy'...at what cost to the 'brain drain' to the U.S....at what cost to our foreign policy? i had great respect for colin powell, as 'chairman, joint chiefs,
as National Security Advisor, then Secretary of State, until he prostituted himself
at the U.N., being a 'good soldier'. he should have said then, 'hey, this is crap....i resign.' he still had credibility at the time...and could have changed history. the record shows that he explained the 'pottery rule' to bush...'if you break it, you own it.' but bush left, and so, i am OK with what obama is doing to get us us out of the mess he inherited. - 3 years ago

Minor correction for Mr Kucinich: Washington doesn't have money for war, sir, it has debt for war. Trillions of dollars of crippling debt, to be unfairly inherited for generations to come.
Also, with all due respect... go fuck yourself, Dennis. I saw you shilling for Obama like a fucking sellout. You played the independent political warrior for as long as it was advantageous, and then you buckled and shilled for Obama instead. Now Obama is doing PRECISELY what he promised to do and you're pretending to be outraged by this turn of events, DESPITE the fact that YOU promoted him when it became apparent that your anti-war campaign wasn't working. You voted for this, and you're getting exactly what you wanted.

This is precisely what Dwight Eisenhower warned us about, the military industrial complex, and the supreme court just made it easier for the weapons industry to further influence both the senate and the house to continue to support ever wider wars and keep the tax payers money flowing into their coffers...history is replete with the accounts of empires bankrupting themselves with wars..Spain, England, France...read just a little and you will learn a great deal.

However, public schools are given just enough funding to be a great training center for future soldiers of the NWO and Military Industrial Complex. Just enough education and tests to filter out those who could be of benefit to the system, and those with too much intellect or a capacity to ask insightful questions are rooted out, effectively scaring the rest of the children into falling into line and obeying orders. Do not ask questions, memorize the answers to the questions we give you and pass the test like a good drone.
Beyond that, even primitive cultures are able to provide the 4 basics to survival: (Think SWFT) Shelter, Water, Fire (energy/heat), Tummy (food). We are failing miserable in this so-called "modern" culture as we can not even provide these basic requirements for survival to an ever increasing percentage of our population. What ever happened to "We The People", have we become to self-absorbed or too frightened to care?
The solid truth is that this war is only serving the interests of the war profiteers. Unfortunately, it takes more courage to live peacefully than it takes to go to war.

This is what I say every time someone yells about me donating to Haiti when we have so many needs here at home. I donate to the United States relief effort every day of my life. This is called paying taxes. Now, if they use that money to kill people, that's a problem. Yell at them. Call a Congressman. I don't give a fuck. But leave me and my $10 out of it.

And yet no matter how much tax you and your fellow Americans pay, the United States never seems too relieved, huh? You might wanna look into that, maybe stop paying your government to lock up innocent black folks.

There was a clown on here earlier this week attempting to "be" an intellectual, making grand statements about how no govt./military had ever been defeated when fighting on its own turf. I didn't get a chance to respond to this dullard. Hope you're still out there.
What about south viet nam? They were on thier own turf until russia armed north viet nam and they invaded the south and TOOK thier turf. How bout them Ogala Souix? The french, the polish, the belgians, checz's...Didn't I see German tanks squishing them into dust?
I understand your a left wing hack promoting a clearly anti-american anti-u.s.soldier agenda...but puullleeeze...this make-a-fact approach is an insult to those of us who still retain the right and capability of individual thought - 3 years ago
