Boulder's Sacred Heart of Jesus School denies enrollment of lesbians' child
However, the same principle knows about a lesbian teacher and her partner who are both teachers in the school with a child and they live together and THAT is OK. (Note also, there is a child living with them in the home).
This situation struck me as being fundamentally unfair and prejudicial. To my knowledge, the lesbians are have not gotten a civil union, and of course can't "marry" legally, and to be honest, in my opinion, I would NOT support this couple being punished in any way. What I find amazing is that this type of situation is not seen in ANY negative light for the gay couple, but it is NOT acceptable for the heterosexual couple.
I didn't plan on writing about that, but then heard about the case in Boulder where a lesbian couple enrolled a child in a Catholic school, and when the Church found out that the parents were Lesbian, told them that the child could not come back because their relationship violates Catholic beliefs and teachings.
This has exploded into a major Bru-ha-ha locally. And I thought it might be an interesting article for Current discussion.

Jesus, however, would teach that you don't preach or force your opinions on others. You lead a modest life serving your fellow man with generosity. The fellow man will wonder what is different about you, why so tolerant, generous, giving, loving? That is when you tell them about Jesus and you add another to your fold. The Catholic School did nothing but claim the 'high moral ground' to attempt to lift their own image. What they accomplished was turning this couple away from the church and probably the child. Now that the story has hit the media possibly more will have another reason to dislike Christianity. This is not the 'job' the Lord has asked them to perform. Didn't mean to preach, lol, just sayin'.

Wow, this is one that is difficult to comment on and not to step into the proverbial doo-doo. . .
Inho the logic concerning the 2 scenarios illustrated here in the Public school, is flawed and without balance, and I would wager the failure of action against the lesbian couple has more to do with a fear of legal repercussions from "Gay" affirmative action groups. . .
Concerning the Catholic school, whether I approve or not of their action, I do understand that the moral values within the Church are in fact the prevalent factor in its enrollment policy decisions. However having stated that, whether or not the lesbian "couple" have active exposure within the school, it appears that the child is the one being ostracized for the sexual orientation of it's "parents". . .

I thought that I wasn't stepping around the issue, but simply stating my thoughts. . . but what do I know, damned if I do and damned if I don't, right?
