    • This is a terrible story, but she should be charged for being irresponsible and possibly putting that child in serious harm. I am all for pro-choice, and passing this won't fix these situations at all. What needs to happen is young women need to know that abortion is a safe and okay option, and having someone punch you in the stomach is not. Women think that it's okay if they tell someone that they got a miscarriage but are ashamed to say that they made the responsible choice to get an abortion because they know they weren't going to be able to care for that child. As a society (ESPECIALLY IN UTAH-I'm from there, I know) we need to accept abortion as a responsible choice that is made for the greater good of everyone involved.

    • This is ridiculously insane. The fact that it was even considered, much less passed by any legislative body is a reason for alarm for all women living in Utah. Ladies of Utah, leave the state so the men that make stupid laws can no longer procreate.

Religion yet again rears its ugly head. Mormons seem to vying for the top spot in crazy these days. Mormons, stop trying to be overachievers in human rights violations and subjugation , it will take you centuries to catch up with the other religions. Why not try something novel, like respecting women or something? Oh you can't, you like to molest little girls and marry a few chicks at a time.

      Girls, get out of Utah!

    • Leave it to the religious right to come up with a law laike this. Jubal is right this is another end around Roe v Wade. The religious right has a history of nibbling around the edges of Roe v Wade as they know the Supreme court is not going to reverse it. Dispicable is the only word that comes to mind. Furthermore there are NO abortion clinics in Utah at all that are legal. Every woman who desires an abortion must drive three to four hours out of the state to obtain what the Supreme Court ruled as legal. This is a perfect example of States rights trampling federal law and it is illegal. This will end up being challenged in court, it will lose in Utah but on appeal to federal district court will in all likelyhood win.

A state representitive of the Utah state legislature admitted that any woman who wants an abortion only has to drive 4 hours to find one. Do the geographical math, 4 hours at sixty miles an hour and that takes them out of the state of Utah. Yes its legal but there is no place to get one.

    • This is such fucking bullshit WTF. Utah needs to STFU with this law. There would be no need for such a law if abortion was safe and legal. This is a run around against Roe v Wade.
