Cops doing what cops do nothing new with that. I'm not saying it's right but they are going to do whatever they can get away with. Only those that can pay for a lawyer or those that Know somebody will get off. I see the same thing happen here a couple of times a year. Maybe once or twice a year they also do a round-up of all the small time dealers. same thing those that can afford a lawyer most likely will get off or get a lesser sentance. Any one can be an AssHole but it takes a special kind of AssHole to be a cop.

I'm looking forward to hearing about all the poor down and out police officers who just got laid off from the force because the government is broke. I'm also looking forward to laughing in their faces when they try to intimidate me in their new mall cop uniform, and thats if they are lucky enough to get that job.

this is why the law is not an answer... it tried to make people criminals so it can profit.

like i said i witnessed it in VA firsthand last nite...im stationed in Fort Bragg NC and was in Va to witness the birth of my 1st born Son.....on the way back it really pissed me off because it seems like they cherry pick whenever they feel the need....if the speed limit is ..lets say 70....everybody goes at least 75.....76 and up is a ticket.... a more experienced driver would probably go anywhere from 75 to 85+ and its not really that fast on the open highway of I-95....the cops are well aware of that and whenever they get bored they randomly creep out the woods and tagg em and freakin bagg em....one cop i saw had 3 cars pulled over at once....SMFH
oh yea beware the speed traps like when the speed limit is 70..then drops to 60...thats where they get all their milk and cookies

Anyone else even think that hey, almost 7,000 people were breaking the law to begin with?
and yes, states are broke, they are cutting funds and raising taxes/fines, because they are going to collapse otherwise.
how about this, dont break the law and you wont get fined!
unfortunately most states are too retarded to understand that its how they're spending the money thats the problem, not that they dont have any money.

If you live in Virginia and you get pulled over and ticketed simply thank the officer for his voluntary work as a revenue officer of the state and that you have full intentions of moving out of Virginia as soon as possible.

If it was about safety, they'd have one DUI in there.
To really be serious about the cash, they'd use cameras like all of Europe.

shame on Virginia and shame on their police force, but I bet if you talked to any one of the zombie police who issued these tickets, they would all tell you it was to serve and protect.

This doesn't surprise me at all. These little towns lost their jobs to wal-mart and the economy. They need to make ends meet so they just put all their police on the highway where every out of state person is just passing through. I'm sure the amount of people speeding never ends.

I was really wondering why there were cops EVERYWHERE lately. I saw 6 on a 15 minute drive, all of them had people pulled over.

It's nice to see that upholding traffic laws has become nothing more then a fund raising event. I'm glad to live in a city where cops really don't have the time to pull you over unless you're really doing something wrong like going 20 mph over the speed limit, or hot boxing your car!

If the drivers were actually doing something wrong then there is nothing wrong with this.

So the law is only to be enforced at the whim and will of an accountant, but disregarded otherwise? You can't just pick and choose when to enforce the law. I would not be surprised if they are lenient most of the time and let people start feeling safe and then crack down all at once. The problem here isnt that people are just angry about tickets. The problem is that the motivation has nothing to do with safety and everything to with money.

Well, I have never received a speeding ticket, but if a cop feels like writing you a ticket, or has been told do so by their precinct or whatever to raise revenue, they will figure out a way to cite you whether or not you are doing something wrong. People on here seem quick to defend these cops actions with the assumption that the ticketed had it coming but I bet their attitude changes when a cop pulls them over for no reason, can't find any alcohol in their system, but writes them a ticket for something innocuous like "Improper lane usage" (even if it was proper) or "failure to signal" (even if you did.) They will write you a ticket just out of spite for not actually having anything on you. One ticket I received was for "no seatbelt," but I WAS wearing a seatbelt, but took it off after I was pulled over so I could grab my wallet out of my back pocket to fish out my information and I know the cop saw my take the seatbelt off when he was walking up, but was an asshole like like majority of them. I hope that those types of officers meet some real locked and loaded criminals someday.

hey I just got a ticket a few months ago for speeding. I don't know how fast i was going. i was following a tour bus through a small town. The very second I saw the cop I knew I was going to get a ticket. Long before he had a chance to pull me over. Thats what they do I have come to expect it from them. He wrote me a ticket for doing sixteen miles an hour over the posted limit. I have no idea what the posted limit was I just sent them the two hudred dollors they wanted no big deal.

It's a big deal to people who need that 200 to feed their family. It's not a big deal for a billionaire in their new Lotus, who either sees 200 bucks as nothing, or has their high dollar attorney have the ticket dropped.
