In order to have a symbiosis between planet and body, the entire global picture and our effect on it must be truthfully disclosed and understood. As indigenous cultures have relayed to us for centuries, when mankind is out of balance so is our Mother Earth, and that depletes her life force that gives life to us and all other species. If you take a look throughout history any time of peace and prosperity was also a time when the Earth was bountiful and humans were in harmony with her life rhythms. We have now not only lost touch with the Earth’s life rhythm but with our own, and that in turn is now leading us to a point where war, disease, famine and environmental calamity are commonplace and more prevalent only to become worse in the future.

This was my welcoming entry to the Earth Care Group Blog. I also hope to explore the spirituality of the environment in this group because it is essential in my view in understanding and appreciating our Earth.
Thanks.

conclusion
We are now at a time where lack of empathy and moral will has taken us to a dark place in this world of our making. The light is waning, the balance is shifting, and our children will look back and despise us for it. But there is hope. Still, there is hope. But in order to realize this hope we need to answer some serious questions and yes, look in that mirror. Are the Earthly desires of the few so important on the whole that we will be willing to sacrifice this balance, this life force that would lead to peace and prosperity and a cleaner, safer world?
To deny that world to our children knowing we have all we need to make it so and still some time to do it in is not only immoral but criminal, and to ignore it will be a bitter epitaph for the human species. So to start on the road of hope, rebirth, and enlightenment, try doing this one simple task: Take a trip into nature. Pick up a swath of Earth and run it through your fingers. Let it dirty your hands as you smell the essence of life in it and visualize all it gives you to live. Then visualize a world without it. Then look at your loved ones and ask this question: can I really put this Earth down and just walk away?
The answer you give yourself to that question is the essence of Earth Care and it knows no rank, politics, race, or creed. It is the essence of hope, life, and balance for generations to come. It is the essence of the struggle between truths and lies. It is what you don’t see on a corporate balance sheet or in a partisan political speech. It is us.

So in light of this many ask, what of it? What can we as humans do to turn the tide and put the life rhythm of our planet in balance? As a spiritual person, my first suggestion though not earth shattering to some would be to get back to the land. Feel the Earth in your hands. Touch it, smell it, let its essence fill you up. In other words, hone an appreciation of your only home and the gifts she gives to you when you give to her. To look at her as the whole and not only your own separate reality that fits your own comfort zones. To see her in a different light in order to see yourself in a different light. To realize that this light is a shared light and a shared life force. Once we have that appreciation we have hope, we have action, we have balance.
To say we are all connected is more than just a cliché, it is truth. As the brilliant Carl Sagan stated, we are all made of stars. The same materials that flow through the heavens and Earth flow through us. The same light that emanates from the stars shines within us. Once we turn that light outward, it connects to the life force of our planet. Those who continue to defile our water, land, air and health for a false choice are accomplices in hindering that light, that life rhythm, and that balance. So many who sit in CEO offices when never even planted a seed or lived off the land dare to now tell us they know more about what is best for this planet and us. And we continue to allow their balance sheets to control the fate of our world.
As the Arctic continue to melt at an unprecedented rate affecting the systems of our planet that in turn affect us in a myriad of ways, we must be cognizant of our important role in the constant struggle to maintain the Earth’s balance sheet which has far more value than any sheet of paper, because it is about the survival of our civilization. It is totally illogical to believe that all that is now taking place regarding the steady and quickening pace of global warming in relation to pollution, war, disease, famine, water shortages, social upheaval, political corruption, and corporate greed are all just flukes caused by a natural variation alone that will right itself. It seems that humans are so quick to understand natural disasters and respond to them, but when faced with a disaster that is a true and urgent threat to our existence by our own hand, we balk, deny, obfuscate, and ignore.
