David Beckham is almost certainly going to miss this year's World Cup finals after rupturing his Achilles tendon this weekend during AC Milan’s 1-0 win over Chiev.
The injury usually takes at least three months to heal. He's due to fly to Finland today to be operated on by a specialist.
Beckham was unchallenged when he pulled up in the 88th minute of last night’s 1-0 victory. He grasped his left ankle before limping off the field in tears, repeating: “It’s broken, it’s broken,” according to reporters.
Some pundits have said Beckham's injury won't affect England's changes as much as his broken metatarsal in April 2002 since he's doesn't always play a full game and isn't the guaranteed first choice for his position. However, the guy's 35 in May and "has almost certainly played his last game for England". I feel for the guy. He's a huge presence on and off the field, in the England squad, and he'll be missed this summer.
What do you think? How much does Beckham's injury affect England's chances?

His injury doesn't affect England's chances at all. IF he would have been selected, he would have only made a few cameo appearances anyway to help see out matches. He certainly wouldn't have started any matches, though personally I would like him to have gone to be a positive, influence on the squad and use his experience.
