Are Israel and the US about to break up?

News about Israel today is dominated by headlines pointing to the "greatest rift in decades". I find it hard to believe that one of America's most special relationships is really in existential peril...but things don't look great between the two nations.

Last week, as Biden was in Israel discouraging settlement building, the government announced 1600 new settlements in East Jerusalem. The Obama Adminstration is more than a little miffed. And though Netanyahu's government has apologized for the *timing* of the announcement, they don't seem near to reversing the decision.

"The Israeli leader said Israel has been building in mostly Arab East Jerusalem for the past 40 years and no Israeli leader during that time has stopped it. Mr. Netanyahu said building Jewish neighborhoods on the land, in his words, in no way has hurt the Arabs of East Jerusalem, and he said the construction did not come at their expense."

So what happens if nobody gives? Is Israel really in a position to distance itself from the US? Is the Obama Administration really in a position to risk its closest ally in the Middle East? Or is this a bunch of hullabaloo over nothing?

      This stupid insanity will exist until the United States collapses.

      Americans are too stupid and uneducated to understand the source of the problem, and intelligence in the US government can't stand up to the political bullshit that has allowed these Jewish racist lunatics do this for 60 years.

      There has been no progress for TWO GENERATIONS. This will continue until the US empire dissolves and China/Europe/Russia - one of them replaces it.

      Al-Qaida-inspired group claims responsibility for attack from Gaza - the third in 24 hours after two rockets land near Sderot; comes as EU foreign policy chief Ashton visits Strip.

      Israel warned of a harsh response on Thursday afternoon after a Thai greenhouse worker was killed when a Kassam rocket fired by Gaza terrorists exploded in the Netiv Ha’asara area.

      The man, in his 30s, was evacuated to Ashkelon’s Barzilai Hospital, where doctors were forced to pronounce him dead.

      A small Islamist faction calling itself Ansar al-Sunna claimed responsibility for the attack.
      In a statement e-mailed to reporters in Gaza, the al-Qaida-inspired faction said the attack was a response to Israel's "Judaization" of Islamic holy places in Jerusalem and elsewhere in the West Bank.

      A second group, the Aksa Martyrs Brigades, also later claimed responsibility.

      Vice Premier Silvan Shalom warned that the attack would lead to a strong reaction, and said that Hamas was ultimately responsible.

      “It is severe escalation,” said Shalom in remarks broadcast on Army Radio. “Israel will not return to the situation of before Operation Cast Lead. The response will be particularly fierce...I hope Hamas will learn a lesson.”

      The attack came on the same day as a visit to Gaza by Europe's top diplomat, EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, who had just crossed into the territory when the rocket was fired.

      "I condemn any kind of violence. We have got to find a peaceful solution to the issues and problems," she said. She was the most senior international official to visit Gaza in more than a year.'

      It is already well known that Obama (and Hillary Clinton, and adulterer John Edwards) appeared at the 2007 meeting of Al Sharpton’s National Action Network: arguably a hate group like the Ku Klux Klan or White Aryan Resistance as shown by its conduct at Freddy’s Fashion Mart, a Jewish owned store in Harlem.       From where we sit, the National Action Network qualifies as a hate group every bit as repugnant as the Klan and White Aryan Resistance, and its conduct at Freddy’s Fashion Mart meets the above definition of hate speech. In addition, a deranged lone actor heeded the NAN’s “indirect call for others to use [physical force]” on the “greedy Jew bastard” and “white interloper”–the latter from Sharpton himself.

Vice President Biden should rein in the overheated Obama Administration rhetoric and chill the political spin masters' fire as they visit the Sunday media shows to criticize Israel.

      Once again, the Obama Administration is missing the boat on a very, very important issue. They need to go back to the basics and acknowledge Palestinian leaders have not progressed any peace process since President Obama was elected. As Israel makes concessions (and is still criticized by the Obama Administration), Arab leaders are just sitting back waiting for the White House to further pressure Israel. The Obama Administration needs to open its eyes and recognize that it is only Iran and her terrorist allies that benefit from this manufactured Israeli controversy. Vice President Biden was actually right when he said last week, before the construction announcement, that “one necessary precondition for progress is that the rest of the world knows...there is absolutely no space between the United States and Israel when it comes to security.” Right now, thanks to the Obama Administration, there is a chasm. It's time for President Obama to push the reset button on our relations with our ally Israel.

Sarah Palin should be reason enough for government officials be required to take several intelligence tests, especially on subjects of history and cultural geography. Israel's pursuit to build in occupied territories is a great insult to the initiative of bringing peace to the region. Israel holds the West Bank and Gaza Strip with walls that closed the Palestinians in. Israel litters the place with check-points, which is a way controlling what resources the Palestinians are able to obtain.

      You want allege that Palestinians are not able to form a civil society, well look no further then the Israeli government that determines how much food, oil, medicine, clothes and other products that people inside the walls of the West Bank and Gaza Strip will get. You want to allege that Israel would not enforce an ethnic cleansing of Palestinians with apartheid if the Muslims would stop shooting over rockets and allowing suicide bombers to kill innocent Israelis; then take a step back and examine the situation for what it truly is--- the Israel government is heavily funded and well armed, with latest artillery, large tanks and bull-dozers, so in reality, they truly have the strong and brutal force; Israel is demanding more territory "back", leaving nothing for Palestinians, stripping them of dignity, destroying homes and entire communities, killing innocent men, women, children and elderly, all with the help of their big guns and bull-dozers-- Palestinians with their home-made bombs and home-made suicide jackets are shooting in the dark, trying to kill how ever many Israelis they can in retaliation of what the Zionist movement of Israel has done to them.

Lets examine this moment in time when Jews in Europe were persecuted by the Nazis; rounded up, sent to concentration camps, blocked in to little ghettos where their food and resources were rationed. If so, does that mean we humans can do what we will do these planets and claim resources and territories because of our God given rights? It seems religion allows people to claim entitlement over nature when it is apparent that no material of this universe can truly be owned by any type of people, no matter their beliefs; so quoting scripture is irrelevant with regard to discussing people rights to live on any piece of land.       Echem you're kidding right? Mexico or Mexican nationals have been illegally occupying the United States forever, claiming the border crossed them (which it did). As an Israeli/American I support people on our continent gaining a right to work and pay taxes here. Especially in that situation.
      And the most extreme Americans who would attack Mexicans because of race are put in jail for hate crimes. Not so in Palestine.
      Mexicans do not blow up nightclubs full of teenagers in the US border towns claiming they were here before the gringos. They don't honor kill their daughters either.

      Bibi is known for his stalemate philosophy.
      When Bibi is in office, there is generally very little violence.
      That's because everyone thinks Bibi is fucking nuts and has a finger on the trigger.
      Historically though, the guy is pretty quiet.
      And those apartments being bult will not be race segregated, again and again it needs to be said.
      If you look at Israel, it lies directly near two humungous fault lines.
      If East Jelem (and every other friggin old city) is not rebuilt with safer housing all of those people are going to fucking die.
      Jews and Arabs together, dead, under thousand year old stones monuments they both idolize. How appropriate.
      Now, would anyone like to actually look into the construction company doing the work to see if these houses are properly retrofitted for the 7.0 to come? To see if the workers (mostly Palestinians) get a fair wage or a living wage?
      Let's get down to the real business.
      If anyone has proof these houses will be segregated show me the paperwork.

      For the Obama administration to blow up over this as some grave insult is ridiculous but telling. This is a real and deliberate provocation by Obama, not Israel. Here was an opportunity for the administration to let Israel know which side Obama backs.

      The White House had nothing to say (no condemnation, to be sure) about the Palestinian Authority honoring a terrorist mass murderer of Israeli Jews last week.

      Murdered Jews or Jewish apartments: Obama evidently finds the latter more repellent. Then again, Obama was silent on the mass murder of hundreds of Christians in Nigeria by Muslim marauders. Never will an unkind word be said about Muslim murderers or Palestinian killers that might detract from Obama's charm offensive to the Muslim world -- the one that so far has accomplished only a projection of weakness, cowardice, and a loss of any ability to weigh competing claims fairly.

      Although world pressure forced the Palestinian Authority to cancel the official ceremonies to name a square after the terrorist Dalal Mughrabi last week, several senior Fatah officials participated in a "popular inauguration" organized by Fatah's youth movement. According to the PA, the square is now named after Mughrabi and an official ceremony, including placing a monument, will take place at a later date. Thursday's "popular inauguration" was on the 32nd anniversary of "the Coastal Road Massacre" of 1978, in which 37 were murdered in a bus hijacking.

      Among the senior Fatah officials participating in the popular inauguration were Tawfiq Tirawi, member of the Fatah Central Committee and former head of the PA Police in the West Bank, and Jamal Huweil, a Fatah member of Palestinian Parliament from Fatah.

      Palestinian Media Watch first reported in January that the square was to be named for Mughrabi, After the initial story, PMW published five follow-up bulletins, including one reporting that the day chosen by the PA for the naming ceremony was to be March 11, the anniversary of the terror attack. Israeli news reported that PM Netanyahu asked George Mitchell and then Vice President Biden to put pressure on the PA to cancel the event. On March 10, the PA cancelled the official ceremony.

    • Isreal is an ally to itself. It only helps or agrees when it is in their best interests. I don't blame them for this but it is a fact that they do what they want just like the US. The problem is that they need our money more than we need their friendship. That region is on the other side of the globe. Isreal has no close frinds in the region. No one else to give them the need funds to continue. So we can continue to think we influence actions in the region but we do not until we speak with our wallets not our mouths. Perhaps you missed the historical wins against enemies who were against religious freedom without the aid of the United States, perhaps you missed the revenue the US gets from a trading partner that actually values their currency fairly.

    • Israel is a nuclear armed state in the middle east, along with Iran and Afghanistan. The United States supported the formation of the Israeli state in the late 1940's. What people don't understand is that there has been no major ground war since 1974. Many other Arab nations in fact hate Palestine for dragging them into the 50 year conflict. Israel has created peace treaties with Egypt and Jordan, and as for Palestine, the Israelis essentially have them boxed in. Israel is one of the most politically stable nations in the middle east, with a strong military it won a war where they were outnumbered 5-1. As for the other nuclear equipped countries in the middle east, Israel has the largest accounted nuclear arsenal in the middle east, and it would be a chain reaction if one nuke was launched. If Tel Aviv is hit, Tehran, Islamabad, Damascus, and the other major cities of hostile nations toward Israel will be nuked as well. And something that people don't understand is that it would be one of the stupidest ideas in history to start a nuclear war, the world's economy is too interlinked between nations for war to break out between major nations. And honestly I think people are over reacting, if Obama severs diplomatic connections with Israel we will lose our greatest ally in the middle east, and if Obama's plan is to seek resolution in the middle east through peaceful negotiations he cannot lose the greatest foothold the US has in the Middle East.

      I'm extremely wary of our close ties to Israel and the influence of the Zionist elite in this country. I believe our constant support of Israel directly effects our relations with the many of the moderate Muslim countries. Israel hasn't not supplied any armed forces in either the Iraq or Afghanistan war. But, the U.S. intelligence community works extremely close to Mossard to accomplish many of our covert operations in the middle east.

      Zionism, like Judaism, or Christianity for instance, means something different to every Jew.
      I would agree America needs to make it's own decisions absolutely. The advice of a local never hurts though. The main thing is, communist style governments are making a resurgence. Israel is at this time still open and has an absolutely FREE media that includes the only Al Jazeera office that has NEVER been closed. As long as Israel is making a strong effort to uphold free speech and equal rights through court (which more often than not rules for Palestinians if you care) this is a strong indicator that the country believes in the very same principles of freedom as the US.

      I read Dune in English in Israel at 10 because they had a huge American used book store.

I honest have the upmost respect for Israel and know that the U.S military has Israel and the Mossard to thank for multiple successful operations in the middle east. It's only that the strong political influence wealthy Jewish American's have over our foreign policy concerning the Middle East. Also, I am Irish Catholic and when I am American I feel a bond with my brothers in Ireland who struggled and fought for the freedom of their country.       President Obama has already tied his legacy to passing health care and the only thing that he is going to have to show for his time and trouble is a footnote on his Presidential legacy that says "he --just like pretty much every Democrat President before him--tried and failed to reform US health care" so why in the world would he want to add a second footnote saying "he tried and failed -- just like pretty much EVERY other US President over the last 50 years-- to achieve a lasting peace with between Israel and Palestine" too? (although I am guessing its closer to the truth to say he knows he will get "blamed" for the US "breaking up" with Israel no matter what he does -- so he probably figures why waste his time and the valuable political capital for no benefit?
