Are Israel and the US about to break up?

Last week, as Biden was in Israel discouraging settlement building, the government announced 1600 new settlements in East Jerusalem. The Obama Adminstration is more than a little miffed. And though Netanyahu's government has apologized for the *timing* of the announcement, they don't seem near to reversing the decision.
From Voice of America:
"The Israeli leader said Israel has been building in mostly Arab East Jerusalem for the past 40 years and no Israeli leader during that time has stopped it. Mr. Netanyahu said building Jewish neighborhoods on the land, in his words, in no way has hurt the Arabs of East Jerusalem, and he said the construction did not come at their expense."
(Link: http://www1.voanews.com/english/news/middle-east/Israel-Tries-to-Defuse-Crisis-w...)
So what happens if nobody gives? Is Israel really in a position to distance itself from the US? Is the Obama Administration really in a position to risk its closest ally in the Middle East? Or is this a bunch of hullabaloo over nothing?

It's time too stop funding the Israeli murderers and land thieves they have become. They by nature are their own worst enemy! It is written they are the chosen ones, chosen to destroy the world. Quit giving them arms and money and maybe the Palestinians will stop blaming us for the genetics that make up the Jews. They have had their chance to be neighbors and oh yes kicked some ass when they had too, but this latest bunch of Jews are just asking to get their noses bloodied.

That's all Israel is good for anyway: doing dirty work.
Just how that dirty nation is treating the Palestinians. If the day ever comes where America "breaks up" with Israel, then it would be payback for all the crimes against humanity that they've committed because no one would put up with their shit anymore.

This has been going on for 40 years and will probably not cease until the West Bank has been completely settled or/and Palestinian communities are isolated from each other.
Our relationship with Israel will not end, not before our's or their country is somehow destroyed. "Somehow" might as well be a in a galaxy...far...far...away..with the consolidation of power and resources in our favor. They might as well be Britain, oops I mean the United Kingdom......oohhh I love h0w euphemisms make us forget the cost of "Unity".

This is but a mere marital spat, not even a lover's quarrel really.
But one must wonder what holds these kids together. For a long time I think it was collective western guilt over the crimes of WWII that allowed Israel free reign in the Middle East, now I am not sure what the attraction is.

As an Israeli, I have never understood why the U.S. government cares about Israel. I understand what the Israeli government has to gain from American loan guarantees, but cannot understand what the American government gets out of it. This alliance is completely baffling to me.

Israel is a powerful Western military force in the Middle East.
The West (US and UK) has been trying to dominate the East (Iraq, Iran, etc.) through colonialism, economic institutions, and cultural hegemony for hundreds of years.
Israel is instrumental to that domination.I'm basically just paraphrasing Edward Said and Noam Chomsky.

The relationship that consisted of the US funding Israel to do our dirty black ops work needs to end for peace to be possible. The cold war is over. No one in the middle east is fooled by our proxy, and until we let Israel know we're willing to cut off their funding, they will continue to appease the religious fundamentalists in their country and spread their occupation across Palestine. The US has nothing to gain, nationally or internationally, by supporting the illegal actions of any country, Israel included.

hahaha... where do you get such silly ideas? As if Israel could effect the Middle East without its nukes and weaponry from the U.S.. Without these weapons, Arabs could march right in, and throw Israelis into the Red Sea and tell them to pray that Moses returns to split it so they can return to be slaves of Egypt.

Well The U.S. is obviously the world's largest arms dealer, and the Cold War is when the Middle East was fed its weapons. My comment was in regard of the entire region being disarmed of all weapons, the Zionist-Israelis would be extremely out-numbered and marched out. Understand?

The Middle Eastern countries have corrupt rulers that would rather accept royalties for the oil then step into Israel. After the War of 1969, the Saudi ruler halted all deals with the U.S. Well that is what caused the gas prices to sky rocket in the 70's. So Jimmy Carter went to Israel to strike the deal with Egypt. It was all for oil. Here we are now, and the Arab nations rely on the U.S. for security, thanks to the U.S.'s arms dealing of the Cold War. If the U.S. had not fed the region all the weapons, there wouldn't be much a discussion to have, the Arabs would march the Zionists right out. I think your the one that needs to turn off the television and pick up a couple of books on history.

Russia, China and now Israel, all in a "rift."
We don't seem to be making many friends lately huh? If we're gonna be unilateral then we need to be independent. Pissing on allies in the state we're in is not a good idea.
Then again, Israel is not exactly an essential partner when compared to China or Russia.
In any case, both parties rely on each other. If we're using the "breakup" metaphor, they have to stay together for the kids and the mortgage.

Obama and Hillary are acting publically tough to distract from their failures all around. Bummer I thought they would be better than Republicans and solve some shit.
However, it wasn't long ago that Obama made a few speech gaffs where he couldn't decide whether Jerusalem should remain divided or undivided.
The news in Israel highlights that the homes to be built are some type of affordable units which are not restricted by race or religion at all.
LAME!
Why do people never pay attention to the context?!
If the PA controlled it you bet your ass only their cousins would get apartments.
Israel is America's laboratory.
Financially, that 50 mile across piece of land is worth 20 times that squared as a trading partner.
Especially with green tech and California in general.

This is all a buch of bullshit, I WISH WE WOULD BREAK UP! too bad that won't happen. Sure, they may be our biggest ally in the middle east, but that close relationship is a sticking point for nearly every single other country in the region. Since the gulf war lies, we've been able to keep serious bases and troop presence in Saudi Arabia, and now Iraq and Afghanistan, this is the process of extending empire. The rest of these countries know this, and they are weary of the west, clearly run by a maniacally greedy ruling class, trying to come into their countries to capitalize them, and mcdonaldize them. We say they hate us for our freedom, this is the message we are fed. When truly, many of these countries are freer than we are now. Free to educate their children, free from merciless fast food marketing towards kids, free from mass media bombardment at all times. We think we're free, but controlling people is easy, you simply must control their needs. Soon enough this will all blow over, and we will have bases even deeper in the region, is there already a mc donalds in Tehran? anyone know?
