This is a pretty dumb reason to boycott Wal-Mart. Although I guess if you are an anti-Wal-Mart activist, any reason is just helping out the cause.

Good point finally, a boycott wouldn't do any good but bringing up this topic would bring some attention to wal-mart. Seeing as he had a medical marijuana card.

It seems okay to use marijuana to me, as long as you don't use it in public. So as long as he wasn't smoking at work he should've been okay.

Joe_Medina:
sez who?
how does it make sense that smoking tobacco smoke causes lung cancer, just about any kind of burning exhaust can cause lung cancer, even being exposed to second hand smoke can cause lung cancer, firefighters who have to work around smoke run a higher risk of lung cancer...
but smoking marijuana poses NO increased risk of lung cancer.
AND you ignore medical studies that tie it to cancer...
How do you explain that HUGE leap in logic?

I dont think you guys have any idea what cancer is, i dont have it but i know people who do marijuana is not dangerous as much as people think it is. i feel sorry for the guy who is dying slowly and now he has no job what do you say about the people who smoke pot for no reason those are the ones that do not deserve to smoke any type of pot. marijuana has been used for thousands of years for medical and religious purposes, who are we to criticize other people when we ourselves have sinned way worse than picking up a joint and relaxing without a worry in the world. What marijuana does is relax you it clears your head and keeps you in touch with yourself! If you havent tried it then dont say it is bad. its basically an anti depressant.

"cancer"...yeah, what is that, Joe?
we've never heard of it.
Hey, maybe you can explain this to us who aren't as smart as you are.
June 23, 2009 -- Smoking pot causes cell damage that could make a person more likely to develop cancer, researchers report.
Scientists at the University of Leicester have discovered that marijuana (cannabis) smoke alters DNA, the genetic material located in cells of the human body. Some forms of DNA damage can lead to cancer.
Many studies have shown that tobacco smoke damages DNA in a way that boosts risk for lung and other cancers, but until now, it's been unclear whether cannabis smoke could do the same. Of particular concern is a cancer-causing chemical called acetaldehyde, which is found in both tobacco and marijuana smoke. Using new chemistry techniques, study researchers showed that the chemical, when present in marijuana smoke, caused DNA damage in a laboratory setting.
The discovery suggests that marijuana smoke may be as harmful, or perhaps even more toxic, than tobacco smoke. In fact, study researchers say that smoking three to four marijuana cigarettes a day causes as much airway damage as smoking 20 or more cigarettes a day.
"These results provide evidence for the DNA-damaging potential of cannabis smoke," the researchers write, "implying that the consumption of cannabis cigarettes may be detrimental to human health with the possibility to initiate cancer development."

I'll also have you know that Acetaldehyde occurs naturally in fruits bread and coffee as well as plants. this chemical also causes hangovers. Smoking tobacco and drinking alcohol produce this chemical and both of those are legal.

OK, cool, Joe. I understand and I can agree-theoretically-with your position. A dude or dudette is dying of cancer, who gives a shit if they smoke pot to feel better.
Hell, for that matter, there are a number of illnesses that I can think of that pot would make you feel better, eat better, etc.
My issue is that the legalization for medicinal purposes is being completely perverted by folks who just want some legal cover to protect them for their recreational use. I've got freinds who've done it, I don't agree with it, but I'm still their friend.
I DO however also agree that a corporation has to be able to cover its ass from lawsuits and maintain a certain level of respectability.
You know what Id like to know is why the hell have they not made THC pills legal for medicinal purposes so they can get the benefits without the additional risks of smoking the herb?

How many people die from alcohol related accidents and illnesses?
Same about tobacco?Forgive me for politicizing this, but Liberals have been all up the ass of the tobacco companies for "selling a dangerous product" and yet they want pot legalized?
Maybe R.J. Reynolds needs to push for legalization and switch crops. How would you like that?

Using a vaporizer would eliminate the need to burn marijuana and as a result no toxins would be inhaled.Once again you are talking out of your uniformed ass. Get up to speed with your knowledge or leave the discussion to the big boys.

Once again you are pissing in the wind...they have made THC pills legal for medicinal purposes the drug is called "Marinol" and it was found to be mostly useless. It has been found in order to achieve the useful effects of marijuana it is preferable to ingest by heating and inhaling hence the reason for people "lighting" up.

Smoking does indeed produce harmful toxins that may cause cancer or other respiratory problems but using a vaporizer would solve this issue. The marijuana is heated and ingested as a vapor and not as smoke. http://www.vapeworld.com/iolite-vaporizer-cordless-portable-vaporizer?gclid=CMD6...

this is probably the stupidest reason not to shop at wal-mart
how about all the workers in china that make things for a meager pay so wal-mart can charge less for it.
The sad thing is some people have no choice but to go to wal-mart because they have no job, or money.

It makes sense.
Wal-mart employees are an elite fraternity and are mong the most highly-skilled workers on earth. Before any employee is even allowed on the floor they must endure a 16 week training course that has a 90 percent fail rate with the first month alone. Wal-mart demands only the best of the best, the most elite of the elite.
Waitaminute....it's fucking Wal-mart! They hire anyone (usually illegals if its night clean up) So why the fuck are they pretending to care now if an employee is slightly buzzed???
They're folding shirts, collecting shopping carts from the parking lot and occassionaly working the cash register. They can be stoned and do the job.
In fact, they'd be HAPPIER and more friendly doing the job stoned.
Wal-mart should seriously rethink their drug policy. These guys aren't flying planes across country. They're working at Wal-mart. So who cares if they're high?

I also buy t-shirts at The Walmart, a pack of 4 at ~$8.50, come on you can't beat that. This is a silly reason to boycott the walmart, the real reason should be the non-union hiring. However it is pure capitalism so I am conflicted. This whole modern american system of "corporations/ultimate capitalism" set to the backdrop of "early american ideals/live free or die/power to the people" leaves me disillusioned. Whatever, I am currently loading a couple of supersoakers with my own blood for future impulse protesting.

I'll tell you what I have against it:
for the most part, it's BULLSHIT. There are probably about 5% of the people getting their damn med. marijuana license actually need them--yes I just guessed.it's just a good excuse for a bunch of burners to get dope and NOW what really pisses me off is that they are becoming increasingly brazen.
back in the day when I smoked, we NEVER smoked on the porches or around entrances to bars and shit. Now the other day I had for or 5 of these clowns stepping out by the outside fireplace and lighting up and coming in with a cloud of pot smoke surrounding them in a restaurant. they smelled to high heaven (pun intended).
that was a mild annoyance. but everyone one of them also got into cars and drove away.
I smoked enough pot to know that it's not as bad as alcohol, but it's also NOT safe to drive when you're stoned.
but now they think it's legalized and they're cool to go. we're going to end up with a LOT more car accidents related to pot, just wait and see.
