Actually, he did not turn himself in. He went to a counselor for help. The counselor turned him in.

Maybe he should have gone to a priest. Or are we lucky he did not? What's your take?

We could make and sell construction hats for people like this, outfitted with a garage spring and rubber hammer. When the words, "Let's get high" are sounded, the rubber hammer reminds him "No".

    • This is very cut and dry. The guy decided to get drunk and high around his 5 week old son. The actions that resulted only did so because of his initial decision (we can assume), so this is no one's fault but the father of the 5 week old baby.

    • dont blame his actions on anything other than his own damn self.

the only thing in his system that could remotely allow him to do something like this would be alcohol... but in order for you to do something while intoxicated, you had to already have those intentions before you took your first drink.... so what does that say about the man?

its not the alcohol or cannabis' fault...

His wife would disagree and probably punch you out - until she finally gets a divorce and then she'll ask "What did I ever see in him?"

    • And how many people get wasted around their kids and miraculously avoid putting them in ovens, drowning them in pools, dropping them out of windows, etc? Irresponsible parents are irresponsible regardless of their sobriety. And responsible, caring parents would never put their babies in the oven, unless they were, you know, on acid or something. That's different. And, I guess, not something responsible parents do around their kids.

I guess so many people don't really get too stoned when they smoke pot - or are you pretending you don't get very stoned? Maybe pot does nothing. Some doofball putting his baby in the oven is only irresponsible and pot should be legalized because it can't possibly have anything to do with it - ?

      Is that it?

Isn't there already a law about putting babies in danger?

That's the real problem here. Lots of crazies put babies in danger. It's the common thread. Let's keep focussed on that.

cannabis isnt responsible for this... the only thing remotely able to bare the blame would be alcohol... but the real one at fault is the man himself.. like i said, nothing makes you do anything, only you can decide on what actions you will take.

why does cannabis have to be blamed for a persons stupidity.. cannabis doesn't make a person stupid, the person just doesn't know shit.

and how come out of this whole story you would pick cannabis as the culprit, knowing how many stupid decisions and actions are made under the influence of alcohol... but no, lets not blame this on alcohol... shit lets not even blame this on the guy that did it. lets put this all on cannabis....

Let me say this: Booze doesn't help - pot certainly does make some people stupid.

Booze and pot together, you got one stoned out stoner - being stupid.

Of course, he's stupid! - And if we are assigning blame, he is to blame.

But then - circumstances that result in tragedy have many aspects.

This isn't to say, pot must be blamed for incidents like this - but pot is part of the equation. Booze is part - the dummy himself is part. He must shoulder legal ramifications.

But we got a guy who is so stoned he up and passes out forgetting his baby.

And that what he was stoned on was pot and booze.

I know all you pot heads are trying to build an assault free position for the legalization - but it's dope! It will not be assault free; - if you gotta a wart, call it a beauty-mark at the pageant - but don't say it isn't there. That tact doesn't help the cause.

i get your point and i do agree with you, but cannabis doesn't make anyone stupid.. a person decided that they wanted to be stupid. and booze dont make you get in a car drunk and drive off hitting someone...

this person should take blame period, his stupidity and ignorance was his own fault and cannabis cannot be blamed for it. thousands of people forget their babies in cars on hot summer days and their babies end up literally baked to death, but those parents aren't on cannabis or anything else for that matter.

my thing is, cannabis doesn't make you do a damn thing, you make yourself do things. and cannabis should be even worse of an excuse because when under the influence of cannabis you have complete control of all your mental faculties and motor skills. Alcohol on the other hand impairs your ability to control anything.

now im not saying that cannabis is perfect because in this world there is just no such thing, but i will say that cannabis doesn't influence the mind to do stupid things. Stupid things were already thought up and became intentions long before the first toke was taken, cannabis was just used to be an excuse for actions.

    • i guarantee they are going to blame this whole thing on cannabis. forget the alcohol, and forget the man got intoxicated caring for his baby in the first place... "marijuana made him do it"

people need to take responsibility for their action and quit using substance abuse as an excuse, the person already had the intentions of doing something well before they took that hit or drink.

    • As strange as it is to say, I think you could just as easily put your baby in the oven while sleepwalking. I don't think it would take laced pot or whiskey to do something like this--just a heavy sleepwalker.

Regardless, the man shouldn't have been intoxicated at any level around a baby left to his care.

    • Bottom line, bad people do bad things no matter what the case maybe, And you don't need to be drunk or high to do something bad, i don't buy in to Reafer madness.

    • It is possible that his marijuana was tainted. Legalization would stop that from being an issue. The guy turned himself in when he realized what he had done, so I tend to not completely discount his story.

laced really because it seems to me that when it comes to pot stoned people can not be responsible for making good or right choices this article does not state that this man acted in malice for all we know he could have given the turkey the bottle

Just reefer - ? - Reefer and whiskey can be a stunning stone.

But you got to be pretty piggy-wiggy to not keep your baby in mind.

Not enough brains for the light to go on.
