Idaho first to sign law against health care reform

Similar legislation is pending in 37 other states.
Constitutional law experts say the movement is mostly symbolic because federal laws supersede those of the states.
But the state measures reflect a growing frustration with President President Barack Obama's health care overhaul. The proposal would cover some 30 million uninsured people, end insurance practices such as denying coverage to those with pre-existing conditions, require almost all Americans to get coverage by law, and try to slow the cost of medical care nationwide.
Democratic leaders hope to vote on it this weekend.

Being alive is a right! Absolutely. I think that the smug and greedy would rather let people die so that they can solely have health insurance. The rest of the world helps their fellow citizens with healthcare. Why is it such a crazy idea to want to help our citizens?
Let's help the poor and needy, not the smug and greedy.

Obama is bound and determined to ram his socialized medicine down our throats, he won't let a little thing like State's Rights get in his way.

So.....if I were a State and wanted to legalize the slavery of African Americans, should I be allowed to do that? State Rights is a bullshit arguement. We need to ensure that the rights of citizenship (police protection, access to fair housing, emergency resuce) extend to ALL states.
A citizen must enjoy all basic rights of citizenship in all States. Those rights shouldn't end once we enter Alabama or Texas, should they?

Bush stated when he and Cheney were in charge that they won, and their decisions are what the majority of Americans would have to abide by. I state to you that if Bush and Cheney wouldn't have put our country into such a mess and ruined things that maybe we could be torturing some more people around the world and cutting some more taxes to improve our economy.
So you are opposed to helping people why?

Just like Bush rammed the Iraq war down our throats. Just like Bush rammed tax cuts down our throats that got us into our economic situation. Just like Bush rammed torture down our throats and ignored Habeas Corpus. Then he rammed the Homeland Security Department down our throats and made the government even larger. Just like he rammed down our throats the 11 trillion dollar deficit down our throats.
So now you are proposing that the President is trying to help a large number of Americans and do a truly GOOD thing, and you are saying it is a bad thing?
Seriously?

I'm not opposed to helping people. You want to help people, donate to charity, no one is stopping you. I'm opposed to being forced into a massive deficit increasing government entitlement program that I will most certainly raise my taxes and reduce my quality of care.

To be ....or not to be ...that is the question. Freedom is all about "NOT" doing or DOING ...Freedom is ....."CHOICE" .....and if I choose not to buy health care thay can't force you to....

Car insurance (at least liability insurance) is a requirement in order to own and operate a vehicle. If you don't have it, you get a ticket and pay a fine.

But you don't have to have a car if you don't want one. No one is forcing you to buy a car. We have a responsibility to see that you are qualified to drive a car for your safety and others on the road, driver's license, insurance, etc. But if you don't want to do all that, then you don't have to. No one forces you to buy a car.

I was bringing up insurance though because I think that was what Lovelander was trying to get at. No you don't have to own a car, but most Americans need a car(s), especially if you have a family. Unless you live in a city with an amazing public transportation system a vehicle is a necessity to get to work, school, daycare, grocery store, etc.
IMHO cars are a need more than a want.
And with that need we have to pay insurance. But I much rather pay $100 a month than get into a wreck and pay for,my hospital bills, car damage and the second party's hospital bills and car damage.

So then you've made a choice based on what you feel your circumstances and needs are. You didn't need the government to make that decision for you and you certainly weren't forced into a government program. It was your choice to own a car.

We can express compassion through our words and our deeds, we can give to charity, we can donate, we do not and should not need the government to force us into it. Look at how Americans stepped up for Haiti, did we need the government to tell us there were people in need? How selfish is it to just expect to have something for free when you have not lifted a finger to work for it or earn it?

"when you have not lifted a finger to work for it or earn it?" I work a full time job, yet I can not afford Health insurance, it would cost me more than half my yearly income to buy Health Insurance on my own. In fact, the estimated cost for a single person's coverage is $15,000. The Federal Poverty rate is $11,000. A $4,000 dollar difference. This is a ridiculous rate. This is like charging someone for Air.

Air is only free because no one has found a way to prevent people from breathing it in. Otherwise it would be sold as a commodity. I never said that medical equipment was free, however there is a difference between recouping expenses and salaries, and making a profit for shareholders. There are plenty of people who make a LOT of money at non-profits. You think that not for profit businesses do not charge or pay wages?
