House Democrats say the legislation will cost $940 billion over 10 years and will reduce the deficit by more than $100 billion in that first decade.
House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said the legislation will deliver the biggest reduction in the federal deficit since the 1990s, while providing access to health care coverage for nearly all Americans and prohibiting insurance companies from denying coverage to the sick.
Hoyer also said Thursday that the chamber is on track to vote on the overhaul bill on Sunday.
It's the same day Obama plans to leave for an overseas trip. The president has already delayed the trip once so he can be present for the vote and help with the 11th-hour arm-twisting that inevitably will precede it.
"You've got to realize how complicated this is and how focused we are on getting it right," Hoyer said Wednesday near the end of a long day of meetings on the legislation. "We're waiting to get a real confidence level."
Obama expressed optimism in an interview with Fox News Channel. "I'm confident it will pass," he said. "And the reason I'm confident that it's going to pass is because it's the right thing to do."

This bill will cap what the insurance companies can charge people. It will not allow insurance companies to just cancel peoples policies when they become ill just to save money. It will not allow the insurance companies to deny people for pre-existing conditions.
This is a social program to help the poor and needy, not the smug and greedy. If we all have to pay a little to help everyone out I don't see the problem.
If the companies charge less it will be an overhaul. If people have insurance it will lessen the burden on our system and keep it afloat. We are headed for an iceberg at our current rate.
We can't just sit on our hands and do nothing. The republicans only idea is to do nothing and let the large companies do as they want. We have to do SOMETHING. This is it, and we do need it.

It's so all of these DLC democrat, cocksuckers can have a little lower premium by making those of us who can't afford it cough up our cash and hand it over to pricks we choose not to patronize. I hope this small group of DLC pricks know what they're doing. Marginalizing themselves by pissing off everyone else on the right AND THE LEFT isn't going to help them win elections....their other main goal.
All of you who support this piece of garbage legislation, why don't you go hug an insurance CEO today. They are going to be the only friends you have left, very soon.

I currently have no health insurance, Mr Wizard. I am one of these millions of people who don't have coverage because I cannot afford coverage. The insurance bastards want to keep making their millions, so I have chosen 1) to not buy something which I cannot afford (what every single American should be doing regardless of the product or service) and 2) to not give my hard-earned money to some fucker whose only job is to deny my claim and make millions by doing so (which is and always will be their job).
President Obama feels so bad for those of us in this boat (I'm assuming by your comment that you are also without coverage), that he wants to "cover" everyone one of us with his new bill. Unfortunately for us, his idea of "covering" somebody is forcing them by law to give their money to these same pricks who caused the situation in the first place. And what about you and me, us poor bastards who our caring President wants to help? Well if we don't pay our "protection money" to these insurance thugs, eventually our caring President will have our asses thrown into jail.
Mr. Wizard, I do not have health insurance coverage, and I UNDERSTAND all to well what this bill does, thank you.
