Revelation1217
Are home Bible studies slowly being made illegal in many areas of the United States? Unfortunately, the headline above is not a joke. It is actually happening in many areas of the country.

I'm sure it can feel real lonely. Real Christians seem to be against war and fight poverty. That pie chart slice include those "other" Christians. The ones that believe in torturing Muslims, falsely defending Israel in order to bring forth End of Days, and donating tons of money of to white teeth preachers in thousand dollar suits.

    • It's only a matter of time before you're forced to undergo satanic rights and have anal sex with your neighbours...

Don't worry though, apparently hats made from tinfoil can protect you. Send me your life savings now and I'll tell you how! ^_^

    • I’m sorry, this is a load of crap. America was established by Puritanical Christians and though we are not a Christian nation, there is still such an ingrained sense of Christian doctrine in this country. Presently, we are a secularized nation but have nothing to fear about persecution on a federal scale. How about you go research all the facts, do more fact finding instead of throwing this hodge-podge, half ass attempt at reporting out on the internet. Please come up with more than opinion.

What I am referring to is not the founding fathers so much as the first Puritanical Christians who established colonies of which they could freely practice their religion away from the governing of the Anglican Church. You are correct in that the founding fathers were mostly agnostic. Jefferson was one who was not. Regardless you might think about positively adding to the conversation before you jump to conclusions.

Some people forget that this country was founded up and down the east coast by many people other then the founding fathers. If you did a head count back then you would find an easy majority of puritanical Christians and protestants. This shouldn't be so controversial.

What was great about the deists founding fathers that established our government, is that they had the foresight to write about religious freedom and personal rights to privacy.

    • Wow. I'm pretty sure anyone with a least some critical thinking skills could figure out this is biased.

"For example, many national leaders are absolutely thrilled that the Episcopal Church has confirmed the election of an Annapolis, Maryland priest as the first openly lesbian bishop in the worldwide Anglican Communion.

But churches and Christian organizations that try to live according to God's standards increasingly find themselves being persecuted."

Because lesbians are ruining the church....

I am sorry, lesbians are ruining the church? Which sin is greater than the next? I have often struggled to figure out which sin is worse than another. In America we often relegate specific sins like murder, rape, child molestation, torture, stealing, jay walking, fraud, grand theft larceny, lying in court when under oath, gossiping? What order do you place them? Do we place them in a specific order based on Dantes nine levels of hell? Are all sins equal in nature? Is thinking about sex with a women the same as having sex with her? Coveting another man's wife is what I am getting at.

In the past the church was being ruined by witches and people that were not strong enough in faith. I think in Spain they had some sort of Trials to determine if people were good Christians (i.e. the inquisition).

If you are without sin, caste the first stone. I hate to use that scripture, because it wasn't used in all three ancient texts, and is red lettered in some bibles as just a good parable. So I don't know if it belongs and is true cannon. However, it gets the point across, none of us are perfect. I am gleaning you are not friends with any lesbians? They are really nice people. Nicer than say a jay walker? I can't judge that one.

    • I must say that reading an article off of a site entitled "signs of the last days" leads me to believe its .. umm, lets say.. slightly biased. I am sure that these instances are few and far between, and that (more than likely) the home study groups may have over stepped the boundaries of the by-laws of their precious gated communities.
All things aside I must say that telling anyone who they may have as a guest in their home at any time for any reason is a serious breach of their rights. I know that proselytizing christians are the bane of most educated peoples existence, but a respectful, quiet gathering of people should go unnoticed by the authorities (kegs not with standing). I doubt a group of people meeting weekly to read and study the Bhagavad Gita would warrant any official intervention.
(I also doubt they would protest a soldiers funeral or tell a woman shes a murderer for choosing to abort)

    • I think something is being left out of this story. I think they are doing something more than just meet in their homes to discuss scripture. The right to assemble in someone's home is a private matter. Are they proselytizing to their neighbors or screaming out in praise? Something is fishy here?

Anyone can get together, but if they are preaching hatred and are a militia group, then I can see this. Otherwise, it sounds like this is an attempt at stirring up fear...again.

all of their sources are incredibly biased... but it seems like the reason the meetings got shut down is because they needed permits to have recurring gatherings of people.
