If you're sympathetic or apathetic to it with knowledge, you are a part of the problem.
This is unacceptable, it just shows the inefficiencies are wrongs in our government. People should be outraged about the future possible abuses, not cheering.

A whole 1% of the US's population is in prison - I get the impression that there has to be a few major holes along the line... Not good.

Our justice system in the UK is not much better really, but I find the three strike system ridiculous.
It's appalling that it's all for the stats though. Jeez... - 2 years ago

Let's all sing song for Bernie Madoff and hug it out QQ. No seriously, fuck him. There are plenty of articles detailing the injustices in our legal system, but posting under this headline is counterintuitive.

No, it strikes right to the root of the problem, that we don't hold our standards across the board. No wonder there are so many wrongs, people just turn a blind eye when they want to.....so everyone just turns a blind eye. I STRONGLY DISLIKE this guy, what he did was HORRIBLE and I am not defending his actions. I AM defending your grandchildren's future rights, whether you want to see it that way or not.

If this is true he deserves heightened security. Nobody deserves to be terrorized while serving their sentence in prison. The prison system, and it's employees, should be subjected to critical review, and termination of it's security guards who have failed in their job duties.

absolutely not. this guy shouldn't even be allowed to sit in a cell. he single handily has destroyed economies, the value of the dollar, and helped collapse the banking system. You my friend should maybe take care of him in his cell. Maybe he'll pay you as private protection. Lets put Bernie in the shower and see how long he lasts in there. We all know he likes raping people.

You're unconstitutional! Have you even read the Bill of Rights! NO TORTURE, it's the 8th amendment! Why don't you start protecting the millions of people's rights who would be harmed by your policy indirectly instead you are trying to harm 1 guy. Think outside the box, this is not right and it's an individual rights abuse! You can't just have people beating people up in prison, there is suppose to be order, even for those who can't respect others. We are suppose to set the bar!

Agreed, many things went into this outside of Bernie Madoff. The housing bubble came from somewhere....and it's called low interests rates from the Federal Reserve that fueled the government sponsored enterprises that pushed low rates to bad credit consumers that would not be able to meet the adjustable rate mortgages! They set these poor people up to fail, the government and big business are in bed together for corporate welfare and protectionism of each other! The People are the suckers to their political game, but people are educating themselves more and more everyday!
The left/right paradigm is flawed. I agree though, even without Madoff, we would still be in the same position we are in now, maybe 0.1% better unemployment rate...but very little at that.

thank you for watching TV. you have mentioned every tag line and sound byte that the media and these crooks want you to hear and repeat. Can you define what any of those things are? And even if they do, will your meaning of them match the meanings that the people in power give.
your username is choirtramps23 REALLY?!? there's others with the same username REALLY?!?

The Bill of Rights is lost when you violate the constitution and other laws. Be aware. Plus, you should probably read the Patriot Act--it sort of took a shit on your 8th amendment--not that I like the Patriot Act at all. I've actually contacted my elected officials and told them I will not vote for them again b/c they signed and supported it. Have You?
The first step towards getting the others involved in this mess are to get one person, then you get another, and another and on and on.
I'm all for setting the bar higher, and I just believe that we need to show that Madoffs need to shown why doing business the way he did is unacceptable. If prisons are overcrowded, and this guy is in there for life--why should my tax dollars go towards feeding him 3 times a day, putting a roof over his head, and letting him play in the yard. Absolutely absurd. Oh WAIT, and the government for the people by the people is broke. Axe this guy!

The 8th amendment was MADE for after incarceration! I'm not saying he has his right to bear arms, but keeping him safe throughout his sentence his a part of the contract government is suppose to have made with the people.
Yes, I have contacted my representatives about my disgust with the Patriot Act. Why would you EVER think I support that?!?
The government is breaking it's contract with the people, THAT is why I'm upset. I do not endorse torture nor do I support those who tolerate it. My government cheated me, I feel upset..... I wish more people would stand up for what they believed in....

End The Fed, bring about competing currencies! Besides, the constitution calls for only gold and silver as legal tender anyways, fiat currency isn't just immoral, it's illegal!
