Is Current stale?

I usually ignore the emails I recive from current but decided to log on one more time. Yes current is stale and removing someones post is the reason why I left. It's gay. They act like a local news paper. I guess the don't want to piss off the two shottiest insurance companys around progressive and geico. Screw that. Sponsers keep it moving I understand, but it worked before with less.

I was thinking the same thing lately, I've been too busy for the last several months to get around to posting stuff but when I log on it seems like the same stories are always up'd these days.

It's ridiculous that people say this site is full of conservative or Christian bashing, when all that's posted on the site anymore is for right wingers, conspiracy theorists, and druggies. I stopped coming here because it's so full of conservative and Connie conspiracy theory op-eds, and then those same people would whine about there not being enough posts about them! Half the new posts weren't even news, just people writing about their beliefs, and how they feel about this site (just like this one!!!).

Everyone, FEEL FREE to go somewhere else. I would love to have Current back to the way it used to be. No one's forcing you to stay here, you only stay so you can post more about how badly your treated on the site, when you contribute NOTHING useful to it.

I dont feel that "bOObies" has yet reached the proper level of exposure.

Current is a user generate website. If there aren't any breaking stories it's because YOU don't post anything.

Smaller budget and fewer people working. It happens over time but things are slowing down at current.

Current has dumbed down, MTV style, and become trite, banal and tabloid. It's going for the lowest common denominator and its target group is young and stupid. Most of the stories I post don't make it on to the front page because they are probably deemed too serious or politically risky or incorrect

Does it matter? When people were steering the ship most users bitched and moaned about that too. When it was users doing it they bitched and moaned about that. And I'm sure whatever incarnation follows will also be bitched and moaned about.

Anyways, this site is really lacking serious interest, its becoming lesser and lesser away from what used to make this site so popular in its user generated content, and then there was the Tv broadcast...Those two things helped make current stand out in its finest...

even when we post "real" stories they don't go up in the ranking. if we all take control and stop posting rubbish then it should go back. but i wish it would go back to more user created content.

Since when has top 50 viral videos become news? So bummed. You'd think a channel that started only using sent in content would be able to run it cheap. Guess not anymore.

Maybe it is, but it still seems better than a lot of other sources. Its Current and C-Span for me.

I just wrote to current feedback with this exact concern. It's name, current, has become just a clever title with no meaning. I still have hope they will fix these changes. Maybe when I have reason to check current a few times a day I will start posting articles again myself.

I seem to come to Current.com when there is something in the news cycle like the heath care debate/ discussion that I want to take part in. So I come here and say my peice. and for the most there are equal parts supporters and detractors to make me feel like I've had my say.

Hello all.
I for one was in complete denial about the decline of Current up until about 2 months ago.

Now, we can all sit around and complain about it, or, we can as a community steer clear of what we think is BS.

It seems to me the best way to go about this would involve every single one of us being diligent in voting DOWN stupid, useless, repeating, (you get the point) news articles that only serve to bring this once amazing site down.

I've been clicking on ONLY the News tab on the front page, never just reading the front page news as it seems to be old and unimportant most of the time. I've been going to the news stories buried under crap at #600 and voting them up in hopes that they reach the top.

1,2,3 years ago, this place inspired me into believing that this was the true nature of journalism. Now, it's being bogged down. I hate pointing fingers because that gets us NOWHERE.

News needs to be objective. Too often i find articles that brazenly push ideals onto people. This is no more news than Faux News is. If your gonna post something, save your personal beliefs for the comment section, not the news article itself.

I fear that there is nothing else to do but vote w/ our collective 'clicks' and views. Current is going to continue what it does unless a strong community disagrees. And sure, we don't ALL cary the same views. But, i would hope that we all joined this site for our right to peacefully voice our opinion and hear a vast, diverse stream of other voices and opinions to further gauge our own.

Keep this strong at #1, Vote this up. Make it a calling card for everyone who cares about what current was and what it's slowly becoming. Though the blame can't completely be put on them or us, i truly question wether or not enough is being done on our end.

I've loved Current since the beginning. And I usually tune into the broadcast portion of current. I think it has died some and really really hate that because it was so nice seeing viewer uploaded segments. I have been wanting to upload some of my pieces but I've noticed that not a lot of new viewer uploaded stuff is not being shown. So I wrote current off for a little only to come back and see the same thing. Love you guys but what's the deal-e-o? But you're still making a difference so I can't complain too much.

i really hope the ability to add groups and tags after its been posted is removed. i'm sick of seeing the same story under 3 headings that don't apply. also, for the love of god move movies out of the top of the homepage, pull tech up or something. this site has become a "celeb gossip viral" site with less credibility daily.

current has a history of losing money yearly from the beginning, what it looks is that some time last year they made the decision to try to turn a profit and run the company to make some money for once. that means we're all boned and they're basically going to do what they want

In my opinion current needs to put the important news from this site and get the word out to more people,and not the crap that does make it to Current TV! It's not the stories on Current that are the problem rather Current's failure to become the town crier of the people,that is the problem! Why is it that important news stories that you find on this site never shown the light of day to the general public? Playing it safe with the elite Al Gore? The current channel should,and indeed must, become a beacon of hope in this slide to corporatism, not just another player in keeping the general public in the dark,and hiding the truth! Knock knock Current pull your thumbs out of you asses and do the right thing! you could do a two hour show on every listed section on this site,instead the crap on your channel brings into serious question your missions legitimacy,and Current's credibility!

This is irony at its best. The people, you and I, are the ones that make it exciting. We do this by posting the most recent news that we find vital.

I think what turns people off is that Current is very one-sided in terms of the views expressed by it's members. It's pretty much a perpetual libtard's circle jerk fest.

And that's kind of boring.

We the viewers bump these stories up to 'breaking news' status...... Is the argument that, from the start when the articles are chosen they are stale or that the viewers are stale for bumping up uninteresting stories?

If it's the latter then maybe you are in the minority in your opinion.

I am still having fun on Current. Adaptation is the key to survival.

I agree that there has been a major change and it is not necessarily for the best. I use to frequent this site as there was always something new and interesting to read about. But now I find myself only stopping by occasionally.

I find there is a real ebb and flow here. It will appeal for a while (content and commentators), but then it becomes the same old and I move on. I find that the stories featured (as well as in the top few pages) are all news that I have already read from other sites during the day. I still find it interesting to see what current commentators have to say though.

I know complaining about it hasn't brought much positive change. Been watching the Current complaint "Articles" for about a year now, I must say they really accentuate the lame. Then there is the whole God bashing, and pushing gay love on everyone. I mean do what you want, but for the most part nobody bashes the most favorite "God" in American culture (i.e.money) around here, and I'm still not letting anyone engage in homosexual acts on my couch.

Yeah i was first attracted to Current because i was interested in observing the daily rise and fall of stories.

We were led to believe we were involved in the entire process.

Now i am confounded by ads for Vanguard Journalism and a bunch of shitty mini-shows like the Daily Fix.

And everyday the same moderator bumped bullshit is all i see on the first three pages of each Topical Section... with the same stories in TECH headlining the NEWS and GREEN tabs as well.

Al Gore let the Bush Cartel rule for 8 more years... Obama surely isn't stopping them yet...

so maybe Current is just trying to fulfill the role FOX filled for our ruling majority?
