    • if we allow the christian right to take control of our nation we will degenerate into a modern dark age. We have enough problems witout having militia nuts trying to run things. There are four things that threaten freedom in our nation, first is the religious polarization of our nation, second is the militias with all of their secular balony, third are the private military contractors, and forth would be the complacecy of the people. We are a nation, private armies are not the way to go, but I for one will look to an oath I have taken twice in my lifetime. To protect and defend the people of the united states and the constitution. To the miltiarist right that wants to remove a freely elected government remember there are a lot of tougher people out there that would fight on the side of freedom and right. Many fights require brains not guns.

    • What we have here is nothing short of the US Government breaching the boundaries of Church and State again, and once again violating the Second Amendment. They are trying to take guns away from citizens and at the same time demonize Christianity, by making unfounded claims, and illegal raids against organizations that call themselves Christian.

This is the same wicked government that murdered men, women and children in Waco Texas at the Branch Davidian Church compound (an offshoot of the Seventh Day Adventist Church), telling America that they were a dangerous cult. Americans need to understand that the true danger is in their own murderous government. Any government that would protect Muslim extremists (AKA TERRORISTS CRIMINALS) against a Christian "well regulated Militia" (CONSTITUTIONALLY NECESSITATED BY THE SECOND AMENDMENT) has an ulterior motive!

WAKE UP AMERICA!!! We are soon to be no more.

    • The more we hear about the case the more it smells. We were told through out the news that there were threats against the US government and local police. Then they were making explosives. Now we learn that many of the group actively help the police and that the person responsible for the explosive was the FBI informant. Now they claim there were threats against Islamic groups. Something stinks in this deal and i have a feeling that we will never know the real truth.

    • So-called christian militia... So-called because if they knew any better they'd know that Christ's 2nd coming would be ushered in by The Rapture, so they wouldn't even be on earth when it all jumps off... Like God needs some supposed disgruntled, supposedly disenfranchised hicks to fight his battles. Knowledge is power....

Silly Christians, this is why Jesus asked that you allow He and the Bible do the speaking and followers should preach through their works/actions. The Rapture does not appear in the Bible and was a creation of the Dispensationalist Premillennialists. Many educated non-Christians know this and it gives fodder for attacks by them when this is misrepresented. Thessalonians 4:15-17 has to be twisted to come to this conclusion.

I don't feel that is appropriate at all. No religion or people should have threats against them levied. Not responsible at all. They should have the freedom to practice their beliefs freely.

    • This is an obvious FBI setup. Every time they've done this in the past the profile is the same. These people are half wits, not capable of carrying out such a plan. There was a mastermind to all of this and I'll bet he wears a badge. Until then, these are just accusations and my guess is they won't pan out in court if these people get even a halfway decent attorney. Hell, I'll take the case just to find out how sneaky the setup really was. The timing of this is the perfect clue.

One day an atheist was in the woods hunting, when all of a sudden a huge grizzly bear started chasing after him. The man was fast, but the grizzly bear was gaining on him with every stride. Just before the bear grabbed him the man yelled out, "God, please help me." At this point, God froze the action and talked to the atheist. God said, "You have been an atheist all of your life and now you are ready to die. Do you think I should save you?" The man asked God, "If you don't think I'm worthy of saving, can you at least make the bear a Christian?" God agreed to do that for the man. God unfroze the action and the man started to run as fast as he could. The grizzly bear paused for a quick prayer, "Thank you Lord for this meal that I'm about to receive."

Be careful what you wish for, it might bite you in the ass.

    • In response to my comment to unclecharlie about as a Christian, himself, that does not support this militia's cause, he should be able to understand how the billions of moderate Muslims oppose the violence caused by Muslim extremists, nursediesel asked this;

"Why don't the peaceful Muslim Aman voice their feelings, why remain silent and appear to not care or side with the militants?"

The following is my response that I felt covered plenty of important points that it was worth posting to the top of the comments. I am just hoping that there others that will actually appreciate what I have to say.

To put it simply, they don't remain silent and do care to oppose extremists, but that is not what gets the ratings for the media, especially not in The United States. People of the U.S. must try to understand that a good portion of the world has developed to the point of having their own cable television networks that never make it here, which inform people from a perspective that is not constricted to American interests. Even networks like CNN and VH1 are broadcast differently outside U.S. borders. I brought American friends from Florida over to Kuwait two years ago and they noticed the difference immediately; not all the stories were about how it effected the U.S., and the content was not so focused on tragedies and fear-packed propaganda. VH1 and MTV, outside the U.S., still play music, they also still run Pop-Up Video!

In the U.S., corporations are networked to cover every aspect of life, and push their agendas through the popular media of television, as well as everywhere else. Corporations are heavily invested in this war against terrorism, therefore, those Moderate-Muslims that stand in opposition to extremists are not going to be getting any prime time coverage in the U.S.. There are so many Muslims that continue about their life, that have no wish to get involved in serious manner, yet still oppose extremists, very much so like the Christians in America that do not support these militias.

However, there are Muslims of all sorts that do not agree with the violent manner in which extremists behave, they understand the animosity that drives the extremists. The animosity I speak of pertains to the U.S. military complex that has armed dangerous people, and supporting the Zionist Movement of the Israeli government, which is ethnic cleansing Palestinians from the region. This animosity is felt by people of all creeds, not just Muslims. People that choose to be moderate should stand against extremists that claim to be followers of the same ideology, whatever it maybe, however, even if all the terrorism came to a halting stop, the world would still be upset with the U.S. financing and arming Israel, and allowing corporations to exploit the world for its labor and resources. It is important take that into consideration when considering Christians that oppose militias that claim to be fighting the Anti-Christ, and Muslim extremists that are fighting the U.S. Corpotocracy and the slaughter of Palestinians.

In my opinion, terrorism will only come to an end when citizens of the United States decide to actually get a grip on the institutions that run their lives and effect people the world over. I can't tell you that I know of the best way to go about it, but I feel that it can't be too difficult, if done such in an well-informed-large scale. Vote for representatives that would never allow pre-emptive wars, invade sovereign nations; bring troops home and close down the bases; persons that oppose the C.I.A. getting involved with the elections of foreign nations; persons that oppose corporations that pollute the environment, while exploiting people for labor and resources; persons that could aid Israel but will not stand for the furthering occupation. People like Ron Paul, Dennis Kucinich, Harry Reid, and Anthony Weiner seem to have sincere care for the well-being of The U.S., where as most others seem to be playing politics as usual and serve the interests of corporations and profits. Essentially, the elections in November should have turn outs that surpass any election in the world. The time has come to take the country back from the corporations that have been running things!

I end with a few lines from Andrew Bird's song Lull:

      "I'm all for moderation
      But sometimes it seems
Moderation can be a type of extreme."

Check the U.S. court documents. EVERY, not even one left out, instance of FBI infiltration into a militia or this type of group ending up in arrests has been eventually dismissed due to illegal actions by the FBI and proven coercion to commit the acts. This has been EVERY historical case. So, statistically speaking I think these guys should look to have this over in a few months and they can return to their Spam, Mountain Dew and their trailers.

Hopefully the FEDS will raid the 700 club next and charge Pat Robertson with being bat shit crazy. (fingers crossed)

Why do so many people cling to such nonsense?
I would rather believe in Jack and the Beanstalk - at least there is a goose that lays golden eggs in that fairy tale.
Truthfully that is all religion is, a bunch of fairy tales.

      The Antichrist; what Antichrist?
I guess people who believe in the Antichrist, still believe in monsters that live in their closets and that grab their toes if they dangle them from the edge of the bed.
      ------------------------------------------------------------------How Silly.
      Someone once said,
" Religion is a shield from hardship."

So I guess as times get harder, there will be more religious fools running around, claiming the end times are near and that God is on its way back to claim the faithful.

Woe are us the sane spectator who look on from the sideline ... Woe are us.

Your intolerance is disgusting for anyone of any belief. What a violent world we would live in if Christians were as intolerant of your views. I say arrest anyone guilty of intolerance, after all, that's the real threat here, isn't it? Muslims that are intolerant, Christians that are intolerant....why should you be any different? I call for your arrest for your dangerous intolerance. I'm serious. How does it feel to be on the other side of intolerance? Oh, you might hide, I've called the thugs out to raid your place because I disagree with you. Hmmm, sounds ignorant coming from the other direction doesn't it? If people are still questioning the seriousness of having 25 percent of a political party espousing the belief that the president is the Anti Christ look no further than the violent actions planned by this group or the record number of threats on the life of the president. This is serious business not politics and those responsible for fanning these flames deserved to pay a serious price.

    • A Christian militia group? They had the gall to call themselves a Christian militia? Their plan was to kill a law enforcement officer, then discover the location of the funeral and plant an "I.E.D" to take out any other emergency personnel that would attend the funeral. According to reports they had actionable knowledge of how to make such explosives and were being directed to acquire the materials, may have in fact already acquired them and were ready to set their plan into motion. I must have missed the verse where Jesus planted an I.E.D. at Ceaser's funeral or the verse after he restored the ear of the Roman who arrested him when he gouged the mans eyes out. Christians are followers of Christ, the Prince of Peace! Christ taught not to sit in a throne of judgement against your fellow man, to not cast stones, to turn the other cheek, and to love thy neighbor as thyself. The Gospels do not direct us to kill law enforcement officials.

You're one to talk about hypocrisy:

      Psalm 33:
      “The king is not saved by a mighty army;
A warrior is not delivered by great strength.
      A horse is a false hope for victory;
Nor does it deliver anyone by its great strength.”

      Peter 3:
“Do not repay evil with evil.”

      Isaiah 9:
When Jesus, the “Prince of Peace” comes, all bloodshed will cease. While this is not yet true of the world as a whole, this truth is to be manifested among Kingdom people.

In a past life I was a believer, and a novice scholar in the realm of Christianity.... until I developed rationale thought. Oh, and I got the pledge that was forced from me daily in school, covered. "Under God" was added to combat communism in the 50's BTW.

Its a difficult question. My mother is Christian Catholic herself and she's a great person. But to answer your question, when people hold up faith, even in the face of reason, as a value that is to be "respected" and honored, then it sets up the environment for people like these to be heroes to others... Even if they are advocating violence.

Christians aren't inherently bad people, but the ideology behind Christianity (and all religion) creates the conditions for division and fanaticism. Not everyone is an extremist, but all extremists start off as moderates and only slowly become fanaticized. If you are Christian or religious, you are naturally more prone to this type of behavior.

I'm a Christian, a follower of Christ, and I don't see at all how these folks claim to follow ANY of his teachings. "How did these Islamic groups threaten you folks?" This is what I'd like to ask them. Ever hear of the adage "live and let live"? These folks apparently have not. Crackpots like these are every bit a threat to our freedoms as Islamic terrorists. As for the militants in this story: I denounce these so called christian soldiers. The hymn "Onward Christian Soldiers" is about spreading the word of Jesus and has NOTHING to do with Fighting! To go after any innocent person for any reason is wrong. These people need to be tried and sentenced, and if guilty of conspiracy to commit crimes/murder then put in jail.

Thank you for sharing your experience outside of this country. I quit getting tv news, in fact discontinued my cable and no longer watch tv because it is so sensationalized and skewed. I am a Jeffersonian libertarian and like Ron Paul and most of his ideas. I am involved in the local area elections by working every six months at the polls.

    • Three words Dagum & Monkey: VIOLENT, RELIGIOUS, EXTREMISTS. We are fighting two wars against those types of people in the middle east and its about time we did something about the ones in our backyards. Nobody said anything about ending religion or Christianity, except for you Monkey. Religion has the potential to be a positive force for good when used that way, however ans any non european person who knows anything about their history, religion can also be used to justify, oppression, slavery, genocide, war and misogeny. So to those who want to co-opt primarily peaceful ideologies of religion and use them as justifications for war, those who oppose this theft will fight back. And in this case it comes in the forms of government raids.

Also Monkey if you had bothered to do additional reseach as I have you would find more credible news sources that describe the militia exactly in the terms it uses to desribe itself. As a Christian fanatical army that is looking to hasten the rapture ( if it even exists). So here let me make it easy for you

I'd kick your ass just for being a fascist Democrat breathing the same air if you were here. Who taught the new generation to be Democrats. We are a Republic. Get it straight. They have the right to be Christians and even to believe in the Anti-Christ, the return of Jesus and Jesus fighting a war against evil. They HAVE THAT DAMN RIGHT!. Here some research for you Democratic Fascist knucklehead:

      http://www.lexrex.com/enlightened/AmericanIdeal/aspects/demrep.html

The difference between a Democracy and a Republic. Remember this, we are a Republic and anyone trying to change that will be dealt with appropriately. That is why there is anger amongst the ranks. The Democrats and Republicans in Washington are pushing us towards a Democracy, which is evil and tyrannical by definition. This is what the bankers and the corporations would like because it allows them to buy up the majority vote on anything and then inflict their will upon everyone.

You are evidence of the destruction of our education system, my friend. Thank God I went to school before we slid so far down into ignorance.

Correction, emarston, well read, highly educated and extremely intelligent are a better definition of myself. However, I do grant you that such intelligence can appear as insanity to the less cranial endowed. Now, to answer your question...

Democracy, as a form of government, is utterly repugnant to--is the very antithesis of--the traditional American system: that of a Republic, and its underlying philosophy, as expressed in essence in the Declaration of Independence with primary emphasis upon the people’s forming their government so as to permit them to possess only "just powers" (limited powers) in order to make and keep secure the God-given, unalienable rights of each and every Individual and therefore of all groups of Individuals.

Sure, they have a right to all of those things. Unfortunately, in this DEMOCRACY we are all presumed to be "CREATED EQUAL," and your rights only extend so far as they don't interfere with others'. When your beliefs lead you to violence you will be arrested like any common criminal. Take your theocracy elsewhere, it's not happening here.

Update: you state: Unfortunately, in this DEMOCRACY we are all presumed to be "CREATED EQUAL," Grade school civics class teaches us that we do not live in a Democracy in the United States. Aren't you in a Jesuit school? What is the lowest SAT test allowed? Once again, for everyone out there. We live in a Constitutional Republic NOT A DEMOCRACY. A true Democracy is tyrannical which is why we live in a Republic. Please read the link so you can understand how this country was set up to work. Thanks.
