Keith Olbermann apologized to Houston news anchor Melanie Lawson Wednesday night on “Countdown,” just one day after airing an embarrassing clip that showed Lawson falling out of her chair during a live broadcast.

The reason for Olbermann’s apology? It turns out that Lawson has multiple sclerosis, which might help to explain the incident. According to a mutual friend of both the MSNBC host and the anchor, Lawson has used a cane for years.

    • i have ms and sometimes use an electric wheelchair and sometimes a cane and can you believe that if I try to go to Disneyland here where they are very mad about ADA changes they had to make that they force to me to get in the regular long lines saying "its accessible" when I can barely walk or stand for a few mins at a time! but when I go to other places like Universal Studios they give me a special pass so I can skip all lines and are very helpful.

    • I mean, she laughed at herself, so I don't understand why it's not funny. If she thought it was funny, why should there be a need to apologize?

      Then again, I didn't hear what KO said, so maybe it was bad enough to hurt her feelings.

    • Years ago I watched Olbermann regularly, and as time came to pass, it was as if a veil was lifted from my eyes, and I thought, how have I been so blind - - this guy is an absolute narcissistic jerk, and since then he has only confirmed that as fact.

      Google Chrome keeps telling me that CTPatriot1970's Blog is infected with malware as well.

      CTPatriot1970 takes the news story, and then posts it on his blog, and then posts it to Current, which totally sucks. Maybe CTPatriot is trying to make some google ad sense off of us, which believe me will only be pennies, or maybe he is intentionally trying to infect our computers with some virus. Either way it totally blows. I have sent him a message about the problem, and noted it on other stories he has posted.

      same problem w/chrome and ive seen your warnings as well. how cheap of you CTP. Post the story, not your blog. I also thought he was trying to infect our comps but I didn't want to jump to conclusions. Glad I'm not the only one.

      did you see the episode? i did. it was in the oddball section and lasted for 30s at most. it's not like it was a major mistake in a major story. it was just something mentioned in passing...

      if you had seen it, you'd realize he didnt mock anyone. he reported a story and moved on to more pressing topics. i agree they should have done some more digging on the story, but to say it was a terrible mistake is ridiculous

      it was in the oddball section!!! since you dont watch olbermann, i'll explain what that means. for 30s in each show, keith will "report" a "news story" that is odd. he doesn't position anything in that section as actual news
