Blogging Belgrade Boy Takes On Serb Nationalists

A 12-year old Serbian boy in Belgrade has become famous after campaigning on the internet for policies like Nato membership and support for the independence of Serbia's southern province of Kosovo.

They are ideas that have not gone down well with Serbia's nationalists, some of whom have now issued death threats against him.

Rastko Pocesta explains why he has set himself up as Serbia's new young self-proclaimed social activist.

    • so sad that freedom of speech was sacrificed by those who take it for granted(comedy central) while it still earns children death threats

    • Alright, the kid is a nerd without many offline friends (seriously watch the video). Because he lives in Serbia that's news? I could show you a half a dozen generally friendless bloggers with political views, that's kinda the general description of a blogger in the first place isn't it?

      Also seems to have an unusual obsession with the US and EU considering their flags are crammed everywhere in his room. Harsh reality this kid will realize in several years: it ain't the 90's anymore, no one who matters cares about Kosovo anymore. And since when was President Carter's name Dimitri?

      Well I think the fact he is only 12, and has received quite a few death threats yet still carries on (whether from bravery or some underlying mental condition...who knows?) is at least some minor news.

      And I think people do still care about Kosovo...since it was rather recent since they declared their independence, and I've had a friend who's went to Kosovo and trust me, they care about it there. I can see why you might not think it should be so important in the news, but it caught my eye on BBC and I thought it was quite interesting, thus putting it on here.

      so by that reasoning the victims of the genocide in darfur once a certain period of time elapses should just shut up cuz no one cares?
      the main difference between this kids blogs and the millions of other friendless kids blogs is that this one is based on the social progress of a people and not a debate over klingons versus romulins.
