Does this make you think she is a lady? Or a soft, gentle, loving mother?

In Bangor Maine...

Biker chick Jeri Leonard parks her Harley-Davidson motorcycle in her bedroom during the winter.

Women riders “want a little more freedom,” he said. Harley-Davidson recognized a few years back that women were an untapped market and began building bikes for biker chicks — and created a clothing line called Pink, he said.

Central Maine Harley-Davidson in Hermon also has seen an increase in sales to women, to the tune of 20-25 percent, according to Clark Sproul, one of several owners of the family-run business.

Leonard, who owns a 1,200 cc Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200 Custom, is one of a growing number of female bikers in Maine who are hitting the streets on two wheels.
There are more female riders in Maine…

    • No one spoke up for the executed women in 17 century Salem MA who were believed to be witches. But today it is common knowledge it was a horrible injustice.

Now if you genuinely interested in understanding the horrible injustice facing many today then please read on otherwise join the ranks of those calling me names just as those in Salem calling for the execution of women who believed to be witches.

Regardless of the many names I am called I will stand up and call it as I see it.
I believe that hatred comes from fear and deep misunderstanding. I will try once more to explain my position.

First off, I am not a writer and it was not my intention to offend anyone with the title of the post but merely raise awareness and attention to the issue. What is the issue?
The issue is not with women wanting to be equal with men, or women enjoying bike ride. The problem is women long surpassed the gender equality line and now men need to stand up and fight for equality with women.

Original feminist's movement has mutated to misandry that spilled over to even corruption of the judicial system.

I respect the love for your home-state but we live in one country and I care about justice in every part of my beloved country.

Let's take a look at the logic behind justice in Maine. One ruling for men and one for women!

      http://www.bangordailynews.com/detail/92567.html

Here is a quote from the article, “DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine — Two of three friends who jumped naked into Moosehead Lake last summer for a free Skinny Dip sandwich at the Black Frog Restaurant in Greenville were found guilty of indecent exposure Monday in 13th District Court.
The court found that Bernard Beckwith, 31, of Poland and Christian Simpson, 37, of Bethel knowingly exposed their genitals in a public place under circumstances that likely caused affront or alarm to others. Each man was fined $200 plus a $50 court fee by Judge Kevin Stitham, who presided over the combined trial.

Crystal Stilwell, 25, of Bath, who had accompanied the men in the naked jump for the free sandwich, was found not guilty. All three represented themselves during the trial.
Stilwell was naked and her breasts were exposed, but to prove indecent exposure the state had to show that she knowingly exposed her genitals. It could not do that.”

      http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/04/30/topless-protest-maine_n_559029.html

BUT Mainer's call it “a double standard that allows men to take off their shirts on a hot summer day.”
“It's already legal under state law for women to go topless in public in Maine. But the protesters in Farmington want it to become socially acceptable, too.”

It appears that equality and justice only applies to women in Maine.

The story of a growing trend of women bikers is just another example of "gender feminism" as defined by well known American author Christina Hoff Sommers.

Sommers uses the terms "equity feminism" and "gender feminism" to differentiate what she sees as acceptable and non-acceptable forms of feminism. She describes “equity feminism” as the struggle for equal legal and civil rights and many of the original goals of the early feminists, as in the first wave of the women's movement. She describes "gender feminism" as the action of accenting the differences of genders for the purposes of creating privilege for women in academia, government, industry, or advancing personal agendas.

I believe in “equity feminism” and it is obvious that 99% of comments are from those who support "gender feminism".

      Get real.

Your post was a mean spirited and vicious attack on a woman you do not even know. There was nothing noble about your post, nothing about injustice.

The post was the work of a cowardly bully. All your posts are attacks on women. You claim to be a woman but this is highly doubtful. Everything you post is filled with disrespect and hatred for women.

Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick ! Could you be any more mellow dramatic? You aren't "fighting the good fight" with this article. All you are doing is mocking a woman you've never met before because she chooses to do something that isn't stereotypically "lady-like". This title has NOTHING to do with women surpassing the gender equality line.

Are you really willing to discredit the entire judicial system of Maine based on the fact that a woman got out of a fine for skinny dipping?

"it appears that equality and justice only applies to women in Maine"

Are you serious? All movements start on a local or state level to some degree. They protested the social stigma around being topless in MAINE because Farmington is in the middle of fucking nowhere (trust me, I go to school there) and no one from any other state could make it. It has nothing to do with whether or not Mainers value the rights of people in other states. Of course we do. Also, I really don't see how that is a corruption of the justice system because there was no legal action taken against the topless marchers. They were not showing their genitals, so it was not against the law. I may not have cared to partake, but I know the girl who orchestrated the protest very well. She looked carefully into Maine state law and complied with it. That is why she wasn't reprimanded, not because of some feminist judicial conspiracy.

I don't need to be taught the difference between gender and equity feminism. Your little "lesson" reeks of condescension.

You do realize that is an opinion, don't you?

As for the Salem witch trials, there is some very interesting conjecture out there that those witch trials may very well have been the result of the consumption of moldy rye bread. The lower classes subsisted on brown, or rye bread, and a fungus with properties similar to LSD can be derived from moldy rye bread. The suggestion is that the girls who accused these women of bizarre behavior may have been tripping, as might the women they accused.

your attempt to point out injustice based on gender pales in comparison to the story on current of the woman who got a life sentence for letting a 13-year-old touch her breast. A breast is not a genital, nor have breasts been sexualized everywhere else in the world.

    • If soft, gentle, and loving are what you value in women, you are certainly not portraying any of those characteristics with your comments. At best they're harsh, caustic and judgmental.

So what if women in my beloved home state of Maine choose to exercise their right to do things that are perfectly legal and have no effect on you or anyone else? Women are allowed to partake in whatever activities they'd like and I THANK feminism for that. I can't believe anyone is actually perturbed by this. It has no effect on motherhood. I know both men and women who ride motorcycles and look like the gnarliest bikers you've ever seen who've raised beautiful, happy, kind, free spirited, non-judgmental children. The title you chose is bullshit.

No, no, you're simplifying the problem. This is a sign of the horrible feminist conspiracy to rid the world of men. Men will become women and women the new men. Gone are the good old days when a woman's place was barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen. Now those awful harpies dare have their own careers, hobbies, and interests. It's making society fall apart don't you see? We're all doomed to a life of equality and freedom of expression even if you have two X chromosomes! And those poor men. Now that women can ride motorcycles and do other predetermined "manly" things, insecure stuck in the 50s men can longer have their sense of superiority. We're doomed I say. Doomed!

Actually, those other stories were far worse than offensive. They dripped with the signs of evil centered around a heinous personality. Who just happened to be a woman. Yes, and deviant women. They do exist and it's not pretty folks.

But to comment on them would be simply: "ditto" or something less intelligent. The urge for projectile vomiting is not very intelligent, and so, while these stories are "significant", they are just not comment worthy.

The times, yes, they are a'changing. So what. A woman who has let herself go, and doing it on a 'cycle, is not heinous, evil or offensive. I'll not do any projectile vomiting over this story, so I maybe, just maybe, I can come up with a response that isn't clogged with the venom of human contempt.

But, as they say on the internet, YMMV.

I'm JAH B InI, and I approve this message.

Uh - yes I find the drugging, raping, and murder of anyone messed up. Why do you think I don't find that disturbing? What have I ever said or stated that would lead you to believe that? People are extremely screwed up - yes. But I don't make sweeping generalizations and play connect the dots with men who are serial killers and rapists, or blew up the twin towers, or molest boys in the Catholic Church. Why? Because it's oversimplifying and generalizing a complex problem in society that reaches across both genders.

Now...back to this article (because this woman has nothing to do with those other men and women who were crazy).

What I found offensive about this was the expectation of gender roles implied in the title and the idea that because she may not be as "soft" and "gentle" as other women, this immediately places her in a situation of questioned identity.

I understand your point of view.

But it's what we all do every day, judge others by the appearance.
When a man is charged with a violent crime it is quickly perceived as "another violent criminal" and public is quick to conclude he is guilty. When a woman is charged with a violent crime it is all together another story. Media, public and the judicial system will search and almost always find "the reason" why a man in her life is the reason for her violence. There are countless stories of women who murder or attempt to murder their husband and there is always a story that he cheated on her, or he was abusive, or she had difficult childhood and was exposed to violence. Women even report false rape for many reasons, some are even to be accepted by her friends or as an excuse for missing a day from school, or for someone to feel sorry for her.(Before you comment on my statement, I do realize there are legitimate cases of violence and rape of women but this is not the focus at this moment).

Statistics show that women just as capable of violence yet are not perceived or held responsible for their crimes. In fact there is lack of media coverage of the truth.

So you find this post and the heading to be offensive generalization, and I find prosecution of innocent men and women offensive. I find judicial corruption that favors females also offensive. I find media misrepresentation of the truth offensive.

      Someone must speak up.

Heinlein did not support monarchy, but rather advocated a cadre of patriot-zealots who put defense of country as a qualification for voting rights and participation in government. (Starship Troopers, for example, is the most complete development of this idea, but it shows up in some of his other stories)

The closest political philosophy seems to be fascism, not monarchy. I'm sure R.A.H. would have thought of it as a benevolent fascism, but there it is.

Starship troopers was a children's serialized story originally published in Boy's Life magazine done very early in his career.

I am referring to direct statements made about politics by the author.

If you want example in his novels read his adult stuff like time enough for love, number of the beast and such. Number of the beast in particular is unusually awful, but it does have a majority of his opinions.

I'll stand by my current understanding.

And by the way. It wasn't "Boys Life". And 1959 was not early in his career. According to the Heinlein Society's Bio: "April 1939, Heinlein wrote the story "Life-Line." -- And Life-Line was seminal for the whole "Lazarus Long" recurring motif in his stories throughout his career.

You may want to check out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starship_Troopers#Allegations_of_fascism

I have read most all of his early, mid and late works. The fascism thread is often there: A small cadre of uber-patriots as the glue of the social structure.

This is what I get for quoting from memory instead of looking stuff up first.
Ah. yes, while it seems it was written for them it was the last of that group and actually Published elsewhere. My mistake. It is still arguably considered a scribners juvenile though, and as such the criticism while accurate is not germane to the point.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heinlein_juveniles Wikipedia gets everywhere it does.

As for career dates, the books I am referring to were written much later than the scribners juveniles. Friday, which I could include in this was written in 1982 for instance. Perhaps the addition of "relatively early" would be sufficient.

      As for the anti-democratic specifics:
Of the stuff I remember off hand, most of them come as Lazerous Long pronouncement style quotes which has always seemed to me to be the most most Marty Stew of his characters. One rule of thumb I have found is the more poorly written one of his books is the more likely he is to let his freak flag fly politically and sexually.

One that comes to mind which i will probably also fractionally misquote as it is from memory is "the committee is the only known form of life with a hundred bellies and no brain" and then goes on in other clips to describe that a democracy is a committee. He also does a broad parody of parliamentary democracy in which he establishes one specifically to keep others from doing anything.

I also remember one where he talks about the only decent government being a well run dictatorship but that a well run dictatorship is "rarer than hens teeth"

There's a section in the back of time enough for love that is mostly disembodied quotes form the character where a lot of them reside.

Not all the advice is about ultra right wing ideology. "rub her feet" are words to live by for example.

As for what I've read of his:
Everything but "past though tomorrow", "revolt in 2100", & "the cat who walks though walls". Though I may be wrong about the last two, and all of his non fiction.

There are several books I started but never finished. I was unable to get through the last third of "number of the Beast" because it started to suck so hard i just couldn't deal with it any more. I also quit reading Job very near the end for similar reasons.

I bought Job hardcover and it was the last time I touched his work. This would mean I haven't looked at any of his stuff since at least the early 80's.

The fact that you constantly need to brag about "all the women you loved" would lead one to believe you are a 70 year old virgin, desperately trying to compensate. A man who had actually been with many women would feel no need to brag.

Are you that obtuse that you are not aware that the man who likes to kiss and tell is often the man who is never kissed?

And if you have as many conquests as you claim, that only indicates a sad promiscuousness which is nothing if not an indication of dysfunction and pain.
