I didn't get to watch the 700 club today. Did Pat Buchanen make mention of how this was caused by sin as well?

Oh, and the official count is 11 people dead... and at the peak there were 46k without power in Davidson County alone. That total is now down to 13k.

I hope you guys are getting some emergency support down there - I'd be curious to know what the response time of the authorities has been like.

Response time has been exceptional. Over 600 boat rescues (multiple people on each boat) were accomplished on Sunday in Davidson County alone. Considering how many people's cars were stranded on I-24 and on other roads, I'd say 11 deaths state-wide is good compared to what it could have been. I don't know about in other parts of the state, of course. Nashville Electric Service was able to get the total from 41k without power down to 36k in a matter of a couple of hours, and down to 25k about an hour after that, and down to 13k a few hours after that. I happen to think that those numbers are exceptional, considering my family in Kentucky (their entire county, actually) went without power for 20 days in the ice storm last year. All power should be restored by today or tomorrow. Some areas are just not accessible, and even then they're still getting some of those areas back online. Shelters have been up since the first flooding on Saturday morning, and once some reach capacity they've been opening others just as fast. TEMA (Tennessee equivalent of FEMA) declared it a state of emergency state-wide on Saturday, and has been helping since it began.
I signed up to volunteer, I'm hoping they contact me soon.

Thanks for the reply. I'm glad the response has been good, and good for you for volunteering! I still can't believe the pictures of the flood damage! I live in eastern PA and as you probably know, we had several blizzards up here this past winter and a lot of power outages. I was fortunate in that all I had was a tired back from shoveling, but a lot of people had it much worse. Best of luck to you guys!

Yep. I live in Nashville, and my back yard was a lake and my ceiling started leaking. Many of my friend's houses are under water, and many people were trapped where they were because the interstates and roads were raging rivers. It's not just Nashville and surrounding cities, it's most of Tennessee.

I live right in the middle of all this, it is crazy. Some places are destroyed while sitting right next to places that are 100% ok. The schools have been turned into shelters which leaves the time for students to return unknown. My wife is a teacher and she thinks that students may get an early summer.
