China accused of skinning live animals for fur [graphic video]

When undercover investigators from the Swiss Animal Protection-EAST International agency and People For the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) toured fur farms in China's Hebei Province, they were first-hand witnesses to the cruel and inhumane manner in which these fur-bearing animals are being treated.
They found that many animals are still alive and struggling desperately when workers flip them onto their backs or hang them up by their legs or tails to skin them. When workers on these farms begin to cut the skin and fur from an animal's leg, the free limbs kick and writhe. Workers stomp on the necks and heads of animals who struggle too hard to allow a clean cut.
When the fur is finally peeled off over the animals' heads, their naked, bloody bodies are thrown onto a pile of those who have gone before them. Some are still alive, breathing in ragged gasps and blinking slowly. Some of the animals' hearts are still beating five to 10 minutes after they are skinned. One investigator recorded a skinned raccoon dog on the heap of carcasses who had enough strength to lift his bloodied head and stare into the camera, says PETA following their investigation in the fur industry in China.
Before they are skinned alive, animals are pulled from their cages and thrown to the ground; workers bludgeon them with metal rods or slam them on hard surfaces, causing broken bones and convulsions but not always immediate death. Animals watch helplessly as workers make their way down the row.

Well, that's true, China is certainly not the only guilty party but they are a good poster-child for any culture that is neglectful towards animals. It's a broad way of showing how many cultures are so arrogant that they don't care about killing sharks only for their fins, killing bears only for their gall bladders, and killing endangered animals, like pangolins and sea turtles, because they are considered a delicacy. Traditions, to me, are a cop-out for acting responsibly. The same kind of traditions that we have in America, such as pigeon and snake hunts, big game hunts, and trapping, should only be found in history books. I definately agree with you though. Change begins on the homefront.

I remember this video from years ago. I will never watch it again. Sometimes those images still pop into my head when I'm trying to go to sleep. It's fucking disgusting that they do this. It's one thing to skin an animal when it's already dead but I don't care what kind of morals one follows, skinning something alive IS wrong. That's something I would hope was universal. Fucking China!! You know, being one of the oldest civilizations on earth, one would think they would have learned some respect by now. Ugh, I need a drink.
Here's a little buffer video, it made me feel somewhat better.
