The ride which is said to be the steepest in world, featuring two inversions and a 112 degree overhang, is the centrepiece of the Yorkshire theme park.
Operators of the £4 million Mumbo Jumbo ride at Flamingo Land, in North Yorkshire, said the jam was caused by a freak incident as a poncho got caught in the mechanism.

who has so much bad karma that they would not only get stuck on a rollercoaster mid ride but get stuck upside down for twenty minutes?

Not that I disagree with you, but hey, you clicked on it. It says more about the nature of man than anything else. This is how Murdoch got rich after all

Well, at least this gives everyone an opportunity to consider what they would do if this were to happen to them, because these people were brought to safety, completely unharmed. This story actually gives me re-assurance, rather than panic. I live in Florida, and have been to just about every theme park. I don't let stories like these freak me out. Then again, maybe because of the amount of roller-coasters I've ridden, along with other variables in my life, I seem to have a handle on my emotions, not letting them get the best of me. That is not to say I could totally keep my cool hanging upside down, 100 ft up one of the steepest roller-coasters.
**OMG, i just had the dumbest thought.. what if one of those people stuck upside down got so scared, they urinated... think about it... ohhhh just terrible...

It could be worse, they could have lost their feet like that girl a few years ago did on that one roller coaster.

This is why I think reality is funnier than fiction. In fiction, you always have to have a reason other than "by chance" or else it just seems like it's bad writing. However, in reality, a rollercoaster becomes jammed because of a poncho, a man gets killed because his friends shoved an eel up his ass, a couple can be arrested for asking directions, and people can truly believe wireless internet will be free.

You're probably right, even though I'm sure it was just one of those plastic ponchos for the water rides.
