Sarah Palin: American Law Should Be 'Based On The God Of The Bible And The Ten Commandments'

Image
MosesOfWar
Sarah Palin joined Fox News's Bill O'Reilly recently to condemn the critics of the National Day of Prayer, saying that the Judeo-Christian belief was the basis for American law and should continue to be used as a guiding force for creating future legislation.

According to Palin, the recent backlash against the National Day of Prayer is proof that some people are trying to enact a "fundamental transformation of America" and to "revisit and rewrite history" in order to shift the Christian nation away from its spiritual roots.

Palins's advice: "Go back to what our founders and our founding documents meant -- they're quite clear -- that we would create law based on the God of the bible and the ten commandments.

"What in hell scares people about talking about America's foundation of faith?" Palin continued. "It is that world view that involves some people being afraid of being able to discuss our foundation, being able to discuss God in the public square, that's the only thing I can attribute it to."

Palin also criticized the decision to dis-invite the Rev. Franklin Graham from a Pentagon prayer service over concerns about his past inflammatory rhetoric about Islam, saying it was driven by a desire to be overly politically correct.

Perhaps, but which God? There are so many these days. The trouble now is who has the position that can pick which God is the one that is the Constitution. So many around the world are vying for that position.

    • Wow! you'd think that somebody running for president would have at least glanced at the constitution and perhaps just maybe have noticed the FIRST amendment… and one would think that someone with any sort of qualifications for leadership might think that perhaps not everyone believes in the same mythology you do… not to mention that if she’s ignorant of the constitution then she's obviously not familiar with something called the “Treaty of Tripoli” let alone Article 11 of said treaty “as the government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion…”

She couldn't list the name of one magazine that she reads so why would she be able to list the Constitution as something else she has read? Neither have probably ever happened.

    • Religion needs to be kept in the privacy of people's homes. It ruins too many things. And I don't think she really believes this, if she actually knew what was in The Bible I'm sure she would think twice. Also, the 10 Commandments are from the Torah, does she want the US based on Jewish Law?

Her popularity is actually growing amongst certain groups. She is big on the NRA and the second amendment. I am not opposed to it but she tends to insight a great deal of fear and energy around those two things. Those who fear the loss of their guns and anything to do with them are frantically seeking someone to represent them. Sarah Palin seems to be the ticket. I am not under the impression that their guns are really under that much danger. Some intelligent gun control is actually just that, intelligent. We no longer live in the same kind of conditions that our Fore Fathers did. Times have changed thus some modifications are due.

In 2012, Sarah Palin will run and I fear she will do much better than many care to believe. If she wins, America will be at war within 2 years after she takes office. She will probably insight it on a global level either by her stupid remarks to other countries or her jump to judgment with other countries activities and her lack of diplomacy and political savvy. At that point your weapons will be nice but relatively in effective other than to protect your personal belongings from the anarchy that will more than likely ensue.

I at one time believed that the village idiot that Nostradamus spoke of was none other than George W. Bush. He definitely fit the description; however, the new village idiot is now front and center. The world is ripe for just such an event and it seems to be moving towards it at a fairly fast speed. When Russia attacked Georgia in August 2007, Palin wanted America to attack Russia. As intelligent as she claims to be, she should have known that if she could see "Russia from her house," Russia could launch big ass missiles to her house and also hit any that exist in America. That would have launched more than likely a major war that would eventually evolve into a global scale. In any case, it would have been the end of America and Russia as we now know it.

SARAH PALIN is the new "village idiot". If she wins in 2012, you may be able to kiss your ass good-bye. She is very dangerous. We can all find comfort in one thing, if she does win and we find ourselves in global war, we can know that God will be on our side. If need be, we can invoke Father Muthee to stand by our side and ward off any witchcraft that may ensue by other nations.

    • It is commerce that drives the hysteria and alledged political correctness and undermines America's foundation of faith. America's judeo christian roots and it's constitution must be suppressed in order to create the lawlessness and immorality that drives the profits of hedonism. The media is the leader of the anti American pack.

Their bovine brains must be short circuiting from all the self doubt, low self esteem and guilty inferiority complexes running rampant through their impoverished and bitter psyches. The best approach is let them bawl for awhile and then they'll calm down and return to the mindless grazing which is their destined role.

I have no problem with a difference in "opinion." Here, however, we have run up against the most dangerous force in the history of the world. Note: I am NOT about to say something hyperbolic; I'm making a factual statement. The real issue here is not opinion but CERTAINTY. Hey, when God is on your side, a conscience is just something for those who God will henceforth smote. In the meantime, "Let's smite ourselves some of them evil doers."

Yes, Bush told the leaders of The Arab League, at a meeting in Aman, Jordan that, "God told him to take out the Taliban. So, I took out the Taliban. Then he told me to liberate the people of Iraq. So, I liberated Iraq." I am paraphrasing here, but it is very close. This quote was part of a not in Kevin Phillips fucking scary book, American Theocracy. I have recently moved and have hundreds of books still in boxes, but I will find the direct quote, if there is one who would play the role of Thomas. The holes in the man's head were real for sure, and you could stick your finger in one ear and out the other.

Having said that, since no one among us were there at the drafting of the Constitution, then none of us can pretend to know what the Framers envisioned other than what we have now. Although there is a provision for wanting to change the Constitution, they are called AMENDMENTS. For someone who is such an authority on how the country should be run, perhaps she should engage herself in actually doing something, instead of spouting off useless, devisive, idiotic and most of all Un-American of actions.~Darth-Blaze

Bush had one thing that Palin doesn't: Karl Rove and a push poll operation in SC, which was run the two days prior to the primary. Question: Would you be more or less likely to vote for JM, if you knew he had 2 black children? He and his wife adopted two children from Thailand. He also had Bob Jones University, JM refused to speak at the Gulag because they prohibit interracial dating. By doing so he forced them to change their official policies, however, not before galvanizing the Nazivangalists to lose to Bush by 1% point.

Of course SC is THE key Rep Primary, because it is the week before Super Tuesday, when 11 of the 15 states are in the Bible belt. Look out for the Gov. from ND. He will be ready. Also, Palin's problems regarding her association with Ted Stevens and some other damaging issues have as yet to be fully explored. These God-fearing people LOVE only character assassination more than Freedom Fries and God.

Jesus doesn't ever claim to be the son of God; rather, his claim is to be the "son of man." Certainly, he was not called God in the Bible.

    • Every new and successful example, therefore, of a perfect separation between the ecclesiastical and civil matters, is of importance; and I have no doubt that every new example will succeed, as every past one has done, in showing that religion and Government will both exist in greater purity the less they are mixed together (James Madison in a letter to Edward Livingston, July 10, 1822).

It should be noted that this debate has been going on since, and went on during, the writing of the Constitution. The lack of reference to God was noted and arguments were made in support and against the omission in state legislatures. The final decision was to leave religion out of the document. An attempt was made again in the 1860s to add mention of God to the Constitution. Once again the attempt failed.

I would like to say that I reject both the argument that the founding fathers were "almost all" or "mostly" deists. There certainly were deists among them as there were devout Christians, those who considered themselves Christian but were not particularly religious, and, if we could peer into their minds, I'm sure others. However, Christianity was certainly the predominant religion. However, 30 minutes of reading on religion in the Americas at the time will make it clear that Catholics, Methodists, Baptists, etc. hardly viewed themselves as of one cloth. The open disputes, codified in many state and local laws, were part of the motivation for the separation we were fortunate enough to inherit. Above and beyond this, the writers were all very familiar with the seemingly endless conflicts fought in Europe in the name of sanctified rule.

If we ever accepted the idea of our laws being based on God's laws the next debate would be, "which God?" Would it be the God of the Episcopalians, the Presbyterians, the Baptists? How about the Muslims, the Jews? Those of us who aren't religious appreciate that there seem to have been those present at the writing of the Constitution who at least questioned the validity of theocracy. I fear we rarely appreciate that there were men of faith who sought the same end to protect their religion.

I honestly think she doesn't get why she sounds so ridiculous, i don't know maybe it's because not everyone in America is Christian and doesn't want to be seen as such. (Haven't we learned from history that church run states and church run legislatures don't really work.).... Idk that woman irritates me but she will diffuse again as always.

    • Dear Sarah Palin, not everyone is Christian. I am, but I know that I am only one view out of many. The ALL American people deserve to be represented...not just your views.
I wonder if it would surprise you to know that some of our founding fathers, some who signed the constitution, were no Christians. Some were Deist. ...and I believe there was even one atheist.

What you're proposing is for us to have our laws based on religion. Which violates separation of Church and State. Also, it would bring us closer to the form of government they practice in Iran.
It's the precursor to religious extremism, which is what we're fighting now.
How would you feel if the country were based on another religion, and their religious base laws kept you from holding certain covenants with your God?

You need something called empathy...and common sense. Like Obama has.

In a zoo helpless animals depend on their keepers, without them they would starve to death. Peace and order is needed for the US to survive as a nation, rioting by discontents must be avoided. Uncle Sam is needed as a zoo keeper, his job is to make sure that all the animals are properly fed, peace and order must be maintained at all costs.

    • "What in hell scares people about talking about America's foundation of faith?"

Sarah, what scares people is that it will cost society its productivity. To begin with the founding fathers may have recognized God, but did not designate Scripture, especially through government. Having a foundation based on order (instead of morality) allowed a stable foundation for faiths to blossom in America. It gave people the freedom to choose religion while thriving economically in peace across religion.

Liberal Christians, liberal Jews, liberal Muslims, and humanists are the people who reach across barriers to promote economic and peaceful prosperity. Religious barriers cause people to invest more money in weapons than books, wasting human productivity, diversity and creativity. People living together in peace in spite of differences will always work more effectively than people who are forced to lived by a specific creed. Nations that must enforce religion as law have never been able to sustain leadership worldwide as liberal nations have. Even when it comes to the manufacture of defense weapons leadership depends on education and new technologies.

What scares people is that this new leadership which you propose, Sarah, will destroy the fundamental liberal structure of the society the true founding fathers have carefully crafted.

The Calvinist thinking she champions - i.e., a nation of one homogeneous religion where the rights of the individual are secondary to that of the church and of the state - lost BEFORE the revolution to the champions of a secular nation with separation of church and state where the individual has primacy over the powers of both.

I deal in essential terms. Domination is one of the very few key terms
in the common law definition of Slavery. Interesting isn't it ? ...That she
publicly abuses living in a free country only to advocate religious Slavery.
Fot the longest time now, especialy since the 1960s, people have had this
same complaint against Communism...That Communism like Religion
advocates Monopoly and is dead set against the type of pluralism which
any Democratic Republic is founded upon. So if you gave a plebicite to
people to change their entire form of Government, they would only use
the Democratic process to enslave themselves with Communism, and
never get their Democracy back. Religious fanaticism is thus simply
another form of Communism, because it's based on the BIG LIE: that
though humans need to balance freeddom with lawfulness to be liberated
the only way to accomplish that is to enslave them. Que merde mas grande !
Palin is no different than Orwell's Big Brother. Another Freedom is Slavery
totalitarian fanatic. Which is why the line I choose to aptly depict her true
colors is taken from the 1994 Jim Carey movie The Mask: " Isn't she overdue
to return to Baron Von Frankenstein's lab to have her bolts tightened ? "

It's rather ironic that Palin argues for a nation based on Christian doctrine when it is, in fact, the values from the Age of Enlightenment at the root of American "freedom of religion".

In Christianity, there is no freedom of religion. There is only Christianity ... or else.

Yes, that is the fear. Of course, a greater fear is a second American civil war - particularly if the right-wing loses enough elections at all levels to make them feel marginalized in American politics - even if such marginalization is appropriate because nationalist militant thinking is contrary to our founding principles. I believe the Tea Party is a good indicator they are ready to take up arms if they can't get their way against what many - including those founding brothers and I - consider to be better values. THAT, of course, is precisely how I'd expect the immature to react and the attitude is at the heart of domestic terrorist groups, conspiracy obsessives and survivalist militias.

They forget or perhaps have never understood that "right to bear arms" exists that the individual is able to defend themselves if government grows to an extent that individual sovereignty, individual rights and liberties are treated as secondary to the values and goals of government. It does NOT exist to empower vigilantism or domestic terrorism or to subvert the "one man, one vote" system. It does not exist that one can wave a gun everytime one can't get one's way through reasonable debate or discussion or fair elections. It does not exist so that one can achieve a majority one is unable to achieve any other way.

If this were the revolution again, I dare say such persons would be fighting for the British and not on the side of the enlightenment at the root of our Constitution. I understand them well enough to say, the founders of our nation would be their enemies.

She wants to wage a jihad against the unrepentant masses that are draining our economy through entitlement and special "protected" class such as the gays, drug addicts, the mentally ill, the chronically ill, and that their darn socialist social security program: (looks at hand) oh...and the homeless. (points finger at the crowd and winks)

What a true dilemma this must be for the Godlies. Maybe it is like American Idol, where they send home who ever gets the least amount of votes. In this case, it is based on who ever sends in the most prayers are the ones that have the biggest victory for that day of massacre.

    • i strongly believe that anybody should just look at Muslim nations to see how law by way of religion works for people. sure we don't have anything that would influence such control like the Quran, but with government changes like that who knows what kind of "freedom" will be dictated by the book (Bible).

does she think that this could truly work for this country? Immigrants, culture, and free-thinkers make up this place, or has she forgotten that there are Muslims in this country who enjoy the right to do what they want a little bit different than in their native lands?

she needs to be banished for her stupidity...on an island far away, where her and her family should stay...maybe they'll talk via satellite someday when FOX goes after her for an opinion, but they'll remain useless.

and you right-wing idiots here, why don't you call on her to be a leader for the island where y'all are gonna flock to worship her...just go and establish a fucked up little land of tropical, robotic conservatism. if you think that's what America should be like, go away.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof

      Hooray it's the U.S. Constitution!

Glad to know all those who flunked 3rd grade social studies can still take a shot at becoming President. That's equality for you.

    • My points in case you didn't get them are simply these: 1.That Palin
reminds me more of the Carpetbaggers & Scallywags that vexed
the South after the Civil War, than a reputable individual. 2. That
religion is the last refuge of a scoundrel. You shouldn't discount
the meaning of that term because it's not a modern term. In it's
time it was synonomous with the term con artist. Get the picture now ?

    • Imho, to me, Saral Palin represents a comedy of errors so trajic
that it's profoundly disgusting on every level. Why ? Because
she represents blind ambition without talent, character or integrity,
cleverness without genuine intelligence, and an overwhelming desire
to be not only A puppet, but THE puppet at all costs. It matters not
one whit to her what's good for the USA. It matters only that she
accomplishes her early childhood ambition of becoming President.

Being a puppet for the world Big Oil Monopoly (which has been
bleeding nearly every country in this world dry for 150 years,
fomenting Oil Wars and giving the Banksters every opportunity to
help Big Oil exsanguinate us) by selling out her country in that would
be devil's bargain matters nothing to her. Again, imho, she's a supreme
joke that was played on us after an abysmaly long line of good but
ineffectual to bad Presidents elected from 1972 to 2004. Ie. Palin is the evolutionary product akin to the court jester.I would laugh at the joke
she is if it weren't so tragic that she came very close to being one
heartbeat away from possessing the nuclear weapons codes.

That ignorant fool doesn't care the USA was founded on principles
rejecting the union of Church & State as in England..Ot that the
founding fathers were ale drinkers and Cannabis users who would
violently chase any psuedo religious fanatic like Palin out of the pubs
where the American Revolution was itself fermented into being. She
doesn't know the History of the USA, and refuses to hold faith with
it, and its legacy. The boneyards of the USA are occupied by millions
of valient men and woemen who made the ultimate sacrifice to preserve
what Palin spits on. And whether you like it or not, every Government
that's ever held power as the legal transition from George Washington to Barak Obama has done so bloodlessly without mob rule, the likes of which
the fanatical muslims and other "religious" extremeists no different than
Palin and her ilk exhort. I haven't forgotten all the hate mongering that
the supposedly good, yet mala fide, " Christian " Palin realy is showing
her true colors during the last election acted as, inciting death threats.
Joke that that bitch realy is, who does she think she's kidding ??? She
wouldn't know what goodness is much less God. And she's neither a
bona fide Christian nor lawful. Current.com contributors proved that
her entire family have criminal records. She & her husband are would
be thieves from the Republican National Party. They had to send their
attorney to Alaska to retrieve stollen p[roperty the Palins charged up
without authorization, and attempted to cross State lines to make off with.

its the primary flaw in the nature of humanity.
we can have ideas that are so important we wouldnt change for anything or anyone (christianity, islam)
yet we dont recognize that just as i feel about my ideas you feel equally about yours.so if niether of us are going to budge but still persue victory, we are stuck in perpetual conflict due to a lack of respect for one anothers' method of understanding our existance.we make living by our rules of how to think more important than peace

      Was it "Trick-or-Treat"?
