In Honduras, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission has begun its investigation into the events surrounding the coup in 2009 that overthrew the government of Manuel Zelaya. Human rights groups and opponents of the coup, however, are critical of the commission, saying that it lacks a mandate to investigate the human rights abuses that have occurred since the coup.
