The coalition includes the American Civil Liberties Union; MALDEF; National Immigration Law Center (NILC); the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP); the National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON) and Asian Pacific American Legal Center (APALC), a member of the Asian American Center for Advancing Justice."
In my opinion the police have too much power in our country to enforce laws that unfairly target minorities and the poor. Giving them a license to "demand your papers" is not American. This is just a backlash against the influx of immigration that has been vilified by the right. We need to fight poverty, the real world enemy, not make people into separate racial categories. No matter how angry people who have already immigrated to America get, someone who needs to feed themselves or their family will listen to their poverty and hope - not your anger. ❤

To me the big problem with this law is not that it racially profiles people or whether or not its constitutionally sound--its that it is going to create a huge criminal underground made up of identity thieves, document forgers, and human traffickers.
That and it does absolutely nothing to address the problem of illegal immigration or to secure the border or to stop the flow of immigrants who aren't criminals or who aren't acting suspicious from working and sending their wages back to Mexico. It also does nothing to punish the Mexican government for causing this problem. They are the true a**holes (and criminals) in this situation because they don't allow their citizens access to proper documents or work visas (the waiting list to legally immigrate to the US is 35 years long) --but the Mexican government sure is quick to condemn Arizona for insulting their people and disrespecting their citizens rights or to cry boo hoo securing the border is a human rights violation.

Once again the American Criminal Lawyers Union (ACLU) is on the wrong end of an issue. This law is not a racial profiling law. Morons like Holder and Obama may say it is but as Eric stated in front of Congress, he has not even read the thing. The federal gov has not lived up to its responsibility in the invasion by illegals in AZ. Accordingly, the state legislature enacted a law that mirrors the fed law. Police can inquire about immigration status when they have reasonable suspicion. Reasonable suspicion is all that is required for police/citizen contact. Read Terry v Ohio. These are what is referred to as Terry stops. Nothing is different. What annoys the left is the possibility that an immigration law will be enforced. NO worries with the fed law but a distinct possibility with the state law. Libs seem to be NOT for the rule of law but the rule of whatever they want to make popular at any given time. Morons.

So your argument is that anyone who doesn't support this gross stretching of fascist police power is a moron? Lol ok.
It is a terrible law, and rational people are going to fight it. America is an immigrant nation - I doubt you're Native American. Are you? - 2 years ago

I am not arguing anything. I am saying that the people in this current administration who speak out against the AZ law have not even read it. I am saying that this law does not confer any new police powers beyond Terry stops. I am saying that this law mirrors what the fed law says about this issue. I am saying that it is the Fed gov duty to enforce this issue but sine they have elected not to the stte of AZ has taken it upon itself. I am saying that the critics of this law are afraid of enforcement. That is what the anti-AZ law fervor is about.
This does not support any stretching of any fascism. I am one of the biggest opponents of increased gov power that you will find here. This is the people of AZ saying enough is enough. America is an immigrant nation, a legal immigrant nation. You statements are wrong and your insinuations are even more wrong. - 2 years ago

I'm glad there is continued motion surrounding this. If you are an American that believes in the Constitution, you simply cannot support this.
