BA Staff Five-day Strike Action Begins

Union and BA talks failed to find an agreement over the weekend, which means the proposed five day BA cabin crew strike started last night. The negotiations saw many odd moments like the meeting being tweeted by Derek Simpson and SWP protesters storming the Acas building which disrupted the talks at a important moment.

Last night Unite offered the stop the strikes if staff travel perks were returned, but BA refused.

"BA has said it plans to fly more than 60,000 customers a day during the strike, operating 60% of long-haul flights and 50% of short-haul services from Heathrow. [...] Numerous BA cabin crew members rely on travel perks - where they pay 10% of normal fares - to commute to work from UK cities outside London, or even from mainland Europe."-BBC
