Many both here and abroad believe that the United States has the most powerful military in the world; and for the most part they are correct. However the U.S. will be losing that spot rather quickly if they don’t change up the ways they use to win wars, and the people who think them up. The U.S. currently spends 1.75 billion dollars a day on the military all for things that seem new to most

    • Wrong. The problem with the United States Military is not our strength of arms, but our humanity. I am sure there are some readers who are ready to pounce on me for saying that. They will site the millions of tons of munitions we have dumped on Afghanistan, and the countless dead and wounded in the local population. Point taken. But, the problem with an insurgency war is the fact that the insurgents are re-supplied with troops by the general population. As a result, we have to re-supply troops to the field endlessly to counteract the enemy build up. General Grant sent General Sherman on “The March to the sea” to employ the strategy of destroying the economic infrastructure of the Confederacy, and therefore cripple the re-supply of the Confederate army. Sherman, scorched the earth during the march, burning everything in his path. The strategy was successful. However, in this era, re-supply only depends on the ability to trade with non combatant arms dealers, using money acquired from any means, including poppy sales. Therefore, the only supply for which an insurgent army is vulnerable, is troops. There are two ways to disrupt an insurgent troop supply; 1) Kill all the civilians and anyone who comes to their aid. 2) Move in large populations of your people to stay, take all the good land and riches, and interbreed like mad with the civilian population, like Roman Legionaries. The next generation will be Americans in the state of Afghanistan. Basically make Afghanistan the 51 state. It does not mean we wouldn’t have to kill a large part of the Afghani population, but overwhelming a population with your own people is a strategy successfully used by China in Tibet and Xinjiang. The United States does not have the stomach to do any of this. In fact, the British Empire fell due to their conflicts with humanity on these issues. However, it may be assumed from history that the Nazis would have been successful at employing said strategies, since they had no problem with genocide. We are not Nazis, not yet at least, thank whatever god(s) you believe in. Yet as for now, our boots on the ground are a waist of soldiers lives and our countries treasure. The only way we can deal with the war in Afghanistan is to find enough Afghanis’ who would be willing to be our proxy army, and keep the peace for a bigger piece of the local pie. The idea being that you get them to fight each other and stay off our backs. In addition to or failing this, we can only harden the target of the United States against attack, here on our own shores. Hardening the US target, means getting off the foreign oil tit, and producing all our own energy from clean renewable resources. Once we have done that, we can largely ignore the Islamic world. The big “what if” in all this is nuclear weapons, and insane religious nuts who would use them against us. At that point we have to use any and all means to be sure such nuclear weapons do not fall into their hands, regardless of how brutal we must get, with all options on the table, including nuclear. It sucks, but as Sherman said, ‘War is Hell.”

I disagree with you, however I will not say you are wrong, saying I am wrong right out of the gate is also incorrect, as my post above and its included tactics are already seeing success, killing all of the civilians is called genocide and barbaric and frankly we are above that. Saying that we should interbreed with the locals is also invalid as why should we create illegitimate children? Nuclear options are laughable in the 21st century, America has had much more incentive to use them well after WWII; yet we resorted to lesser measures, clearly using nuclear weapons is not the best strategy for the world anymore.
The fact remains that the U.S. is using outdated tactics and technology in a 21st century war, and until they adapt to 21st century tactics they will have very limited success.

I believe I said that we are not Nazis, and I was too happy about that. But our strategy in Afghanistan is not working, and none will work unless we become barbarians. So we should get out, ASAP.
