Meet the Kansan Architect of Arizona's Anti-immigrnat Law

Sahuaro
In Arizona, many people believe that it was Rusell Pearce who wrote the law. An Arizona state Senator that for years has introduced anti-immigrant legislation in Arizona, including a bill that would take away a kid’s citizenship if he or she was born in the United States to undocumented immigrants. But in reality, a big part of the state and Federal bills are written by lawyers, advocacy groups and sometimes, as is getting more and more prevalent, by big companies.According to this Sunday’s Arizona Republic, Kris Kobach is the author of SB1070, the piece of legislation that has been causing a huge stir in the immigration debate around the country. Mr. Kobach, a former chief advisor on immigration law and border security for the Bush administration, wrote the law and has been an integral part of similar anti-immigrant legislation around the country.
Mr. Kobach is running for Secretary of State in Kansas this year, which if he wins, could not only boost him in the national political arena, but it would give him the opportunity to have a huge say on Kansas’ elections, impacting directly the results of local civic engagement.
Kobach is also a close partner to FAIR, the anti-immigrant organization considered by the Shouthern Poverty Law Center as a hate-group. Below, you can find a better understanding of Mr. Kobach’s views in an informal, yet funny setting, which seem harmless but have much effect in the separation of families in mincority communties around the country.
