The implications of Turkey's threat are unknown at this time. Avi Trengo, a columnist at an Israeli news site, implies (before Turkey's announcement) that in a showdown between the two countries, Israel is likely to cave first.

The Free Gaza organization is not recognized as a non-profit organization in America, and thus cannot give tax exemptions on donations. However, the group's website states that donors may make tax-deductible donations to the American Educational Trust – a recognized group – and earmark them for Free Gaza, thus allowing the group to provide tax deductions without proving its non-profit credentials.
This is a violation of American tax law. Please email the IRS.

when was it ever that i made a generalization about arabs for better or worse.aside from it being racist to do so, arabs are also christian and jewish so i cant very well claim arabs are any one thing. maybe you have difficulty seperating in your mind what is typed by crystalman, and curtis reed who from time to time call for the violence palastinians place on jews to be placed on themselves, but thats not my bag.
i from time to time use the term arab world but never in religious context but political context as to the culte of the greater middle east territories.but thats about it.i dont lack depth in this particular issue as i was raised in it.its likw telling someone they lack depth at understanding what its like to be an american.it is my culture and has been a huge part of it since the day i was born.from indoctrination fed to me by zionists, to hatred lavished upon me for being born not for who i am.im pretty damn well equinted with this particular subject matter.

unless Israel and the West launch a marketing-propaganda campaign equal to Mo-tune-Rent-A-Mob LLC-the cause is lost.
Israel must become very aware of the quite organized Boat Show propaganda-marketing that will win or loose this war. They (Islamic Supremacists) must feel the sting of their own methods turned upon them in a very organized way till they don't know weather to s@@t or wind their wristwatch.
Islam has no right to demand any rights anywhere. They are systemic destroyers of indigenous cultures (try Hindu India for starters-they decimated that culture) and permit no equality of religion (try Saudi Arabia) where Islam dominates today.
They should be hit with a marketing campaign that will make their knees buckle from the facts. The intelligence services in Israel and elsewhere should have a whole section exclusively devoted to a marketing campaign that present Israel's case and which will put a crap-grin on the face of the Jihadists.
They will look very natural (at last) with such a grin that transcends al-Taqiyya and other Boat Shows.

Brutal force has been used against Kurdish separatists and other political groups. Indeed, the operations of the Turkish military against the Kurds make Israel's recent incursion into the Gaza Strip (in Operation "Cast Lead") look like a May Day picnic. Until 2003, it was forbidden to speak Kurdish on the radio or television; the Kurdish alphabet still cannot be used. The state of human rights in Turkey, according to numerous human rights NGOs, continues to be atrocious. Women in Turkey are mistreated; until very recently women students applying to universities had to pass a virginity test. The Turkish military police routinely kill civilians. Journalists have been assassinated.
Open-air prison, indeed.
But today's abuses in Turkey pail into insignificance when placed in the context of the mass murders and ethnic cleansings that accompanied the birth of modern Turkey itself. As the Ottoman Empire collapsed during World War I, ethnic Turks led by Ataturk seized control of most of Anatolia. The infamous mass murders, considered by some to have been genocidal, of ethnic Armenians accompanied the Turkish campaign for independence.

Okay a little back round. Turkey has been predominantly a secular (non religious run) state since Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, became Turkeys first president in 1923. His Kemalist inspired Ideology gave Turkey a parliamentary Republic, a workable separation of religion and state, with separate parts of a government, Legislative, Executive and Judiciary. Over the years, religious movements have tried to defeat the secularist government. Recently, the Justice and Development Party, called the AKP in Turkey, has come to power. The AKP espouses free market politics parliamentarianism, but they tend to lean toward very Islamic fundamentalist beliefs. Recently, the AKP has made a political bid to bridge the separation between the Legislative and Executive branches of government, and take over Turkeys Judicial Branch. The consequence of this would be a kind of Iranian organization of government. In Iran, the Mullahs run the Judiciary. Consequently, the Mullahs rule the other government branches, a dictatorship. Turkey may not have Mullahs ready to run the government in this way, but the AKP seems to want this kind of power. Essentially, a Islamic non secular party, the AKP, is trying to grab all the political power in Turkey. The Turkish government, led by the AKP, was warned repeatedly by Israel not to try to run the blockade into Gaza. The AKP tried to run the blockade for one reason. They want an emotional patriotic reaction from the Turkish people, regardless of how misguided such patriotism will be. If the Turkish people line up behind the AKP in a conflict with Israel, it will give the AKP time and power to take over the Turkish Judiciary and therefore seize complete governmental power in Turkey. Joe Biden is right when he says that Turkey only needs to redirect the humanitarian aid to Israel, and Israel will deliver it to Gaza, after inspection. The AKP does not want this, because they are spoiling for a conflict in order to take over Turkey’s government completely. Historically, the secularist, or Kemalist’ have been very effective at maintaining the Republic. Recently, The Republican People's Party, or CHP, elected Kemal Kilicdaroglu to power. Mr. Kilicdaroglu, has described the AKP as “corrupt and dictatorial.” The CHP was gaining support in Turkey as most Turks want a free government. Mr. Kilicdaroglu’s with his CHP party, are experiencing a rise to power as Turks wants freedom from religious dictatorship. So the AKP has countered by creating
this unnecessary conflict in order to try keep and consolidate AKP power.
The hypocrisy of the AKP is apparent, as they just had Israel complete an upgrade in their tank forces, and are still buying and taking delivery of Israeli made flying Drones which Turkey uses to spot and target it’s Kurdish population with bombs.
The response by the Europe and the US to the AKP should be one of quiet indifference to the AKP grandstanding, coupled with very active political support for the CHP behind the scenes. Any direct confrontation with Europe or the US and the Turkish people will viscerally support the AKP in a direct confrontation, but will resist AKP grandstanding in favor of Kemalism and freedom if not emotionally worked up. The problem is the AKP wants to keep this conflict on the front burner of Turkish politics. Europe will bow out beyond some negative rhetoric toward Israel, they don’t want a conflict with Turkey, are dealing with their own financial crises, and would like to eventually add Turkey to the EU as Turkey has a strong economy and the EU wants to protect a historically vulnerable flank to the Islamic world. The Turks don’t want to go Islamic dictatorship because they want to be part of the EU for economic advantages as well. What we need is a breather from this conflict. Time will lesson the power of the AKP. All this leaves the US backing Israel. Personally, I think the US should have Egypt, who are our second greatest recipient of financial aid, step up and say they will take the Gaza aid, examine it, and give it to Gaza. The US should pressure Israel to immediately accept such an arrangement. In fact having Israel propose an arrangement with Egypt may weaken the AKP considerably. The AKP will only look like they are spoiling for a fight to the Turkish people if they AKP rejects Egyptian generosity. That’s bad for the AKP, as the Turks like their successful economy, and don‘t want conflict, internal or external to take away their bread. It all boils down to this, what Obama does next, will determine if Turkey becomes the next Islamic republic, or reject religious dictatorship for Kemalist freedom. - 1 year ago

At last the mask is off and we can see the convergence of left-wing anti-Zionism with traditional anti-Semitism. It shows us that the sanctimonious left-wing anti-Israeli agitators of today have inherited the legacy of their right-wing Jew hating European forefathers.
I can see that anti-Semitism is not a perversion of European values but the very essence of a culture on which one's morality, social acceptability, and identity are gauged by one's hostility towards the Jewish collective.

i never stated or remotely claimed that adam sandler was the greatest jewish accomplishment, i would certainly believe humanatarian, and technological achievements would surpass any comedic contribution.besides the concept that any other person deserves credit for the doings of another based on race or religion is a retarded thought process.nor did i say you were a nazi. i just said it feels good to be out of the closet and you assumed that your validation of hitler meant you were a nazi.it could also mean your just an anti-semite or that you are pro socialist, nationalist, or a big fan of propaganda.
what i actualy meant was your closet (shame) was hiding from the fact you cant process information that the rest of us can in recognizing what is without redemption or pure evil.i may have suspected such a thing before but wouldnt dare say that as it would be ignorantly pompous to assume someone is catagoricaly wrong just for not sharing my perspective.but your support of the ideas espoused from one of the craziest, malevolent men ever in history shows you arent coming to this functioning on all cylinders.i dont know what his parents religious observance has to do with anything as thier are no jew scale, nor is the majority of the idf observant, but if religious observance seems to be an issue for criteria just think instead of adam sandler, sasha baren cohen then, as he is orthodox

How Muslims in Lebanon celebrate Hamas/Turkey Flotilla Terrorism
Not like we haven’t seen a gazillion pics of Muslims dressing their babies to grow up to be cowboys, er . . . homicide bomber terrorists. But here’s how Lebanese Muslims celebrated the HAMAS Gaza flotilla at an anti-Israel demonstration in Beirut, Tuesday. Charming, no?:
Here’s the caption that ran below the pic from AP:
Relatives take photos of a toddler outfitted with a mock suicide vest, at an anti-Israel demonstration outside the United Nations headquarters in downtown Beirut, Lebanon, Tuesday, June 1, 2010. A few thousand protesters chanted anti-Israel slogans and waved flags representing Turkey, Lebanon and numerous Palestinian factions in front of the United Nations headquarters in downtown Beirut on Tuesday, while Pro-Palestinian activists sent another boat to challenge Israel’s blockade. Writing in Arabic on placard at top right reads “Gaza.”
Yup, “Religion of Peace . . . and Training Your Toddler to Become a Mass-Murdering Homicide Bomber.” That’ll never change.

The occupation is entirely illegal and is not recognized as legitimate by a single country on earth other than the occupying power. The occupier carried out acts of mass expulsion and ethnic cleansing when the illegal occupation was imposed on its victims. It transferred thousands of its own citizens illegally as settlers into the territories it continues to occupy. Its human rights record in the occupied territories has been atrocious. It continues to defy all world opinion, while imposing military control and suppression on the hapless residents of the illegally occupied territories. Moreover, its human rights record at home is almost as atrocious. It is an apartheid regime in which minorities are discriminated against and openly harassed. It is a militarist entity that came into existence through perpetration of a set of massive crimes against humanity, including ethnic cleansing and mass murder. Indeed, it has often been accused of having perpetrated genocide at the very moment of its creation. There are serious doubts as to whether it even has any moral right to exist as an independent state. Certainly its capital, a city considered holy by many religions, may not rightfully even belong to it at all. That city was seized from its rightful owners using military force, and its religious shrines were looted and transformed to serve the regime.
The above paragraph of course refers to Turkey.
The occupied territories in which ethnic cleansing was perpetrated by the Turkish occupying power refer to northern Cyprus. Turkey illegally invaded Cyprus, an independent state (now part of NATO and the EU), in 1974, and militarily seized about a third of the island. It then expelled the entire Greek population from those occupied territories. Hundreds of thousands of innocent Greek Cypriots were made homeless refugees due to the military aggression of Turkey. Not a single country on earth recognizes the puppet "republic" Turkey still operates there. To maintain its hold on northern Cyprus, Turkey transferred many thousands of its own citizens to northern Cyprus as illegal settlers.

Heres a solution: Why doesn't Israel just check the ships? Like customs. If these ships really contain aid, they should be more than willing to allow the vessels to be searched upon entering israeli waters. If there aren't rockets or arms on the vessel, then it should be allowed to pass. This considering the "aid" workers want to see the goods delivered in person. Instead of diverting the ships or telling these "aid" workers that they can't deliver the goods themselves, Israel would look good on the world stage for letting aid workers through, or giving a legitimate reason to divert the ship, therefore proving their assumptions correct. Its simple, both countries should agree or else, well, they both are wrong.

Good plan, Turkey, this is how you start wars.
I think Obama is out to lunch, and for once, Joe Biden seems to be the voice of reason (aint that a hoot?)
Biden:
"They've said, 'Here you go. You're in the Mediterranean. This ship -- if you divert slightly north you can unload it and we'll get the stuff into Gaza,'", he said. "So what's the big deal here? What's the big deal of insisting it go straight to Gaza? Well, it's legitimate for Israel to say, 'I don't know what's on that ship. These guys are dropping… 3,000 rockets on my people."Look, you can argue whether Israel should have dropped people onto that ship or not -- but the truth of the matter is, Israel has a right to know -- they're at war with Hamas -- has a right to know whether or not arms are being smuggled in."
If Turkey is now getting involved militarily, and they block the Israelis, they will have effectively abandoned their long-held sectarian stance to aid an extremist Muslim outfit and will have taken a side in this against Israel, forcing Israel to decide what is the greater risk to its citizens: a war with Turkey or continued bombardment by Hamas missiles into Israel.
This probably would not be happening if the Obama administration was perceived as a strong government. This is a direct result of Obama's apology tour, his apologist stance, his equivocating on Israel, in short, just being a big pussy.

American exceptionalism, was that what shielded us from the economic collapse of 1929, or the sinking of virtually our entire pacific fleet in 1941, or having our ass handed to us in VietNam or the total destruction of the twin towers? We are just as subject to failure from time to time as any other nation, if you cannot admit that then you must be delusional.
As far as me moving to Gaza, I have a better idea, why don't you accept the fact that I have as much right to express my views as you, it's a concept called freedom of speech...ever heard of it? - 1 year ago

First off the Palestinians and the Israelis have been fighting over Gaza since God kicked Adam and Eve out of the garden pretty much -- so arguing over which side is is more justified in their land grab is sort of like mental masturbation--it feels nice for a little bit but it doesn't really accomplish anything.
That and read Golda Meir's autobiography sometime--its really educational about the creation of Israel --and how the political players from all sides got off on power trips and created the "crisis" we see today.
I have family who lives in Jerusalem who are not Jewish or Palestinian--and to them the whole Jewish/ Palestinian conflict is a lot like the current US issue with the radical tea party people. In that the fringe tea party members use threats of violence and small time brick throwing demonstrations to stir crap up and then sit back and wait for the "big guns" of the government to come in and arrest them so they can then say--boo hoo poor us we are so persecuted.
And like I said its all smoke and mirrors anyway--because if you think about it--disagreements over politics and religion are what has triggered every single war mankind has ever fought.

not all Arabs are Muslims, and not all Muslims are Arabs. While a majority of Arabs are Muslims, there are many non-Muslim Arabs. The term "semitic peoples" in fact includes the arabs, which most people don't understand. If there is an explicit biblical explanation for this animosity, it goes all the way back to Abraham. The Jews are descendants of Abraham’s son Isaac. The Arabs are descendants of Abraham’s son Ishmael. With Ishmael being the son of a slave woman (Genesis 16:1-16) and Isaac being the promised son who would inherit the blessings of Abraham (Genesis 21:1-3), obviously there would be some animosity between the two sons. As a result of Ishmael’s mocking Isaac (Genesis 21:9), Sarah talked Abraham into sending Hagar and Ishmael away (Genesis 21:11-21). Likely, this caused even more contempt in Ishmael’s heart towards Isaac. An angel prophesied to Hagar that Ishmael would “live in hostility toward all his brothers” (Genesis 16:11-12).
I don't bother trying to explain this kind of conflict with the bible, it's a bit pointless. But it is a story that both sides are aware of and refer to sometimes, so it had nothing to do with the garden of eden myth.
nevertheless, it could be said that the conflict between the jews and muslims goes back to mohammed's wars of conversion, not to mention extermination.
but if we flash forward, the Ottoman empire (Turkey) was a key player in the conflict that was settled after two world wars. The Jews appealed to the local palestinian arabs before WWI to join and request statehood fromthe Turks that controlled the area around 1900, but the palestinians liked being subjects of the Turks (who were also muslim) and didn't want to cooperate with the jews. When the Turks sided with the Germans in WWI, after shot dead in Sarajevo, by Gavrilo Princip, the Jews realized at some point in the war they were going to lose to the allies and sided with the British. That's what led to the Balfour agreement, and was the start to the Jews getting their homeland. It was the Holocaust that crystalized international will to make it happen.
Arabs in the area were given Jordan and other territories, and Jews were given Israel. All this was carved out of what had been the Ottoman Turk empire...And AGAIN the Palestinians were given the chance to live peacefully in Israel, but joined instead with other Arab nations to exterminate the jews--maybe their close relationship with the Nazis had influenced their hatred for jews?it's been one bad decision after another by the Arabs in the area. Ishmael's curse just keeps on giving.

Golda Meir, the Iron Lady! One of the world's most amazing and strong willed leaders. Responsible for the "Operation Wrath of God" a lethal, biblical series of assassinations in retaliation against the members of Black September for the massacre at the Munich Olympics. A complete and total victory during the Yom Kippur War, that clearly demonstrated the military superiority of Israel making a juggernaut in the region. Made Margaret Thatcher look like the lunch lady.

Her famous lines never lose relevance:

what are you talking about?
If you follow the link and go to the article, you'll see that it links to an article on the IBN, whch is Indian broadcast news, in which they quote:
"Ankara warned that further supply vessels will be sent to Gaza, escorted by the Turkish Navy, a development with unpredictable consequences."
I don't know where the IBN got the statement, that will require additional research.
The IDF did find on the previous ship:
* Cache of bulletproof vests
* Night-vision goggles
* Gas masksSince when are bulletproof vests, night-vision goggle, and gas masks qualified as "humanitarian aid"?

When they're necessary to not die while trying to get aid through Egypt into Gaza.
If Israel allowed Gaza the decency of importing basic goods like fabrics, notebooks, toys, or supplies necessary to rebuild after Israel demolished the open-air prison of a region last January, then extreme means to get goods into the region wouldn't be necessary, lowering the possibility of weapons also getting smuggled. As if Gaza doesn't deserve the right to defend itself. But Israel's government isn't stupid. They need some semblance of legitimacy, which they achieve by quietly starving the region and cutting its water supply to bare minimum, spurring Gazan attacks that are seen as instigation.

what the heck are you talking about? Ankara is the CAPITAL OF TURKEY. So this is the equivalent of the Turkish government saying "we're sending more ships" AND, "escorted by the Turkish Navy"
did you not go to the original article? follow the links thru the article to the original at the IBN and you can read the whole article.

It is the people of the world that are important, not the leaders who lead the sheep to slaughter, whichever side they may be on. It is about time the people of Israel and Gaza united against all that wage war in their name/s or in the names of their god/s
There is only one world, there is no planet B. Many ask and talk about Gods plan, yet the plan is there for all to see, the world is the plan, the garden, it is our responsibility to take care of it and all that live upon it. Yet world leaders and big business continue to use and abuse it. Decisions being made by world leaders generally prolong the suffering and war. It is time to stop fighting each other and to make a stand against those that bring discourse to what could be a workable solution for all involved.
One could make many speculative remarks, such as the Jewish people are dogged by misfortune because of a choice they made by choosing a known robber and murderer to live whilst they sent an innocent to be crucified. It is a time to end, to start something new, directly related to the people of the planet, not the will of generals and politicians. You cannot hold the whole population of Gaza accountable for individual rocket attacks. This would be the same as holding all people of a country which has terrorist’s cells within it responsible for those terrorists’ actions. Humanitarian aid is what is being called for. How can Israel expect to gain any trust or respect, let alone friends when it holds all Gaza’s people accountable and proceeds to infringe on their human rights and liberty? These people need help from the international/world community, not isolation. If we are the entire world then let us act with some unity for justice, freedom, peace and liberty

I can't find this story from any mainstream news organization. I'm not saying they always do a good job reporting what is going on in the world, but if this is true it is a BIG deal. That said I have been looking for a while and can't find it anywhere so i am very skeptical about this article....

Crystalman...wow! what a long winded rant...I don't have a dog in this fight but I gotta tell ya something...anytime soldiers of ANY country open fire on civilians armed with ..GASP!.SLINGSHOTS!!! makes them look like Waffen SS.. and to defend that sounds very much like the men in Nurenburg who stated " I was just following orders!" In other words just as barbaric as Hamas firing rockets into Israel civilian centers...it's just wrong regardless of how you try to spin it.
