A 7p levy on plastic bags is expected to be introduced in Wales in Spring 2011 to cut greenhouse emittions.

While it may not solve Wales environmental issues, Environment Minister Jane Davidson said it is needed to curb shopping habits. The British Retail Consortium said the proposals are "really disappointing" as it will hit low incomes. In 2009, Wales uses around 480m plastic bags.

    • Wales always coming out with great green projects, hopefully it'll spread outside. tho not sure if the bag charging will work, unless people on low incomes get free bags for life.
