Eco terrorist or activist saving whales?Pete Bethune is accused of inuring a crew member from Shonan Maru No.2 with "throwing an acid similar to rancid butter" (butyric acid). He was arrested when boarding the Shonan to arrest the captain for sinking ship/attempted murder.
Bethune states the evidence used in the case are lies, and when reading the article this could be about how much damage butyric acid can cause. He could face maximum 15 years in jail.
The controversial scientific whaling is causing conflicts between Japan and New Zealand & Australia, "Australia announced this week that it is upping the ante in the anti-whaling battle by following through on a long-standing threat to take Japan to the International Court of Justice in The Hague."-Independent

well it's about time Austrailia and New zealand do something! I think what he did was the right thing to do. The whalers did the same things as Pete Bethune besides ram his ships. This isn't the first ship they have rammed. Now they cry wolf when they are held accountable? They need to quit eating whales!

I have no idea or opinion about this guy one way or the other, but good for New Zealand and Australia.
