A Los Angeles police officer has been charged with selling methamphetamine, the U.S. Attorney's Office in San Diego announced Wednesday.

Yoshio Romero, 28, was arraigned Tuesday in federal court on the charge of distributing meth, reports Andrew Blankstein of the Los Angeles Times.

The five-year LAPD veteran faces up to 10 years in federal prison if convicted.

The arrest followed a months-long investigation, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Romero arranged to sell 111 grams of meth in December 2009 for $4,200, according to the federal criminal complaint from U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents.

The police officer allegedly told an undercover agent that he "could supply him with any quantity of methamphetamine that he wanted," according to the affidavit.

quote by charley hess in "Hello Charlie."
      pg. 81, first paragraph

"there were times when i'd even help get her drugs. not because she would give me a tip, but because i was trying to help her however i could, and that included easing the pain of withdrawal."

      Quotes:
      From Blade Runner (1982)
Deckard: [getting up to leave] I was quit when I come in here, Bryant, I'm twice as quit now.
Bryant: Stop right where you are! You know the score, pal. You're not cop, you're little people!
      [Deckard stops at the door]
      Deckard: No choice, huh?
      Bryant: [smiles] No choice, pal.

    • True story: The officers brother-in-law, a high-school chemist teacher, actually started cooking this meth after he found out he was stricken with cancer. Being a chemist, the meth he has made is chemically perfect and blue. His product has gained so much recognition that he has been hired by a very professional drug-lord to make meth in an underground facility for 1million$/month. CRAZY!

    • hmpf. it seems like every cop in my neighborhood is on the cartels pay roll.

they'll bust you for possessing a gram of hash, turn around and slip the "evidence" on to the 'pilot' who passes it back to the connect at street level. I've seen it before, cop walks into a dealers house on a "warrant" looking mean and tough, and comes back out five minutes later with a stupid ass self satisfied grin. as though they don't make enough already. greedy assholes

    • How ironic.... the people in charge of the War On Drugs only go to support it.

As if you can stop drugs anyways...you can't even keep them out of prison.

What is wrong with this world?!? We make things illegal (knowing it doesn't make a big difference) costing us BILLIONS of dollars a year through theft(taxation) and what ends up happening?!?

We get corrupt cops(people who are propped up above others).

Welcome to statism...this IS the political game!

cops were trying to cover the identity of the real killer because he was their meth distributor and knew too much. they could not have cared less for the victim(s). and the whole department some how helped in the cover up. ultimately, the town was sued and their property taxes raised to pay for the punitive awards for the wrongful arrests and imprisonments. the death penalty convictions were overturned and expunged due to DNA that took decades to be allowed by the courts. the worst part is that one man who was already borderline mentally unstable was made irrecoverably worse to the point of a slow suicide, even after he was released, exonerated, and compensated. he was made to lose his sense of reality because he could not believe what was happening to him when. stupid people can do some horrific things.

      some questions to anyone,

imagine all the other corrupt cops there are and always will be? how many times and how often have you "encountered" a police officer?

what race are you, and where was it at the time? what was the officers racial make up?

do you think it is possible that cops are more willing to let a perpetrator off the hook if he is from the same culture or background? could their be more empathy present?

internal affairs is purposely limited to investigating really bad corruption and they just sweep the "small stuff" (ie. drug possession, DUI, domestic violence, felony assaults, and manslaughter) under the rug.
