The only power any government has is the power to crack down on
criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One
declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for
men to live without breaking laws. John Galt

have you noticed majority of Americans do not care. How do you change that?

Yep, it's been that way from the beginning so you don't change it, you recognize it and you move forward. We are small in numbers but our opposition is small in numbers too. The rest are just spectators waiting to see who wins.

Throughout history the burden of keeping the flame of
liberty bright has fallen on the shoulders of a few men and women. As
Founding Patriot Samuel Adams noted, "It does not take a majority to
prevail ... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting
brushfires of freedom in the minds of men."

With all due respect I have to disagree that opposition is small in numbers too. There are great many oppositions each group attempts to protest it's own corrupt and deceitful agenda. People are worn out in attempt to decode every government agency's and "leader's" agenda.

    • His "harrassment" was due only to another private citizen feeling harrassed and calling the police. it is up to the judge to instruct jurors on their job, not some yo-yo on the corner with more time than brains. And calling someone a pig for doing their job is ignorant beyond reason. Get off your damn high horses and stop encouraging some loser who is looking for trouble for no other reason than to have something to post on his lame ass blog.

"The judge will instruct the jury that it must uphold the law as he gives it.
      He will be lying.
The jury must judge the law as well as the facts.
Juries were instituted to protect the citizens from the tyranny of their government.
It is not the duty of the jury to uphold the law.
The jury’s duty is to see that justice is done."

I'm assuming that this is the flier they're using. It's not up to the judge to determine what the jurors job is. It is for them to decide for themselves what to do.

How do you know who called the police? Maybe it was a US Marshal claiming to be a citizen.

The cops are pigs because they do they're jobs, which is keeping us under control.

Stop being a lackey for the system already. Think for yourself.

    • Educate the People James.... just remember, the police are clueless to your cause like most other Americans that strike and lunge hatred your direction. You are doing a great service for REAL FREEDOM...

Something these R's and D's have no concept on....

      Victimless crimes SHOULD be nullified!

    • to OZONEOCEAN: I think the best place to hand out information about 'court' is in front of a courthouse; note that you have judged the person (CRAZY LOON) because Americans don't appreciate protest. They are like cattle in a field who will be lead by anyone. Sometimes, it's best to stand UP - that doesn't mean you are crazy. Dressing well and passing out information is NOT to harass. I knew the 60's and the SDS and believe you me --- burning records in schools WAS social revolution but handing out in a mannerly fashion information on the value of being a juror and the power of that position is NOT. Typical American comment from the perspective of the RIGHT WING you have expressed.

    • Umm... what about the right of the jurors NOT to be harrassed by some crazy loon thrusting pamphlets at them?

I've served jury duty before. It can be quite stressful, and the last thing you need is some idiot on the street getting in your face and trying to tell you how to do your duty.

“The jury has the right to judge both the law as well as the fact in controversy.” John Jay, 1st Chief Justice U.S. supreme Court, 1789

“The jury has the right to determine both the law and the facts.” Samuel Chase, U.S. supreme Court Justice, 1796, Signer of the unanimous Declaration

“The jury has the power to bring a verdict in the teeth of both law and fact.” Oliver Wendell Holmes, U.S. supreme Court Justice, 1902

“The law itself is on trial quite as much as the cause which is to be decided.” Harlan F. Stone, 12th Chief Justice U.S. supreme Court, 1941

“The pages of history shine on instances of the jury’s exercise of its prerogative to disregard instructions of the judge...” U.S. vs. Dougherty, 473 F 2nd 1113, 1139. (1972)

every citizen needs to know this information as it puts the power back into the hands of the people and that is precisely why 'they' don't want people to know this stuff.

    • Mr. Cox has now been approached and questioned 3 times he has been told that if he distributes his educational information on the sidewalk outside the Federal Court House at 299 East Broward Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, Florida he will be arrested. If that is not harassment I do not know what is.

    • look. the jury system is all that separates us from rule by power of money and influence. Twelve Angry Men can be 'retold' over and again; Law and Order had a monopoly on it for years (without stressing the jury really); it's time to remind citizens of their power - and it's not just the power to vote. Jury service is beyond the lawyers and judges powers. It's citizenry. Let's be aware and act.

    • Old people have nothing else to do, so I assume someone snitched for no reason. The worst thing for Fla. (that's Florida for those who don't know) is the migrant seniors. Live someplace else, but go use the Fla. (see above) public services ie. police, ambulances and hospitals and waste the town's budget while they're there. The police should've given the dude a friggin' break!

    • Stoneyroad, you are way wrong. Yes it is true that police are doing their job by responding, but they take it too far. He gets unwarranted complaints all over the state and messed with by Federal Marshals as well. Like Mr. Galt said, get the whole picture. How do I know? Because I've worked along side with this man.

    • does anyone but me think this guy is easily intimidated ?
3 cops showed up & told him not to block people as he handed out flyers.
they think that is the "police doing their best to intimidate him", i think that was police responding to an unwarrented complaint.

"Police did their best to intimidate" civil rights protesters, remember the hoses & dogs. sounds to me like the whole reason he was handing out flyers was so he could complain about how "the man" - didnt stop him - didnt arrest him - didnt hit him - what did they do wrong? - there were 3 of them?

activism at it most milktoast. jury duty? you cant find a more substantial injustice?

LIBERTERIAN - TEA PARTY - ACTIVISM. they have free speech like all of us. just dont complain they are attacking your free speech when NOONE TRIED TO STOP YOU FROM TALKING

    • You would think that with an average of 4 violent crimes a day and 28 property crimes a day (thats just people who get convicted) in Ft Lauderdale. You would think the police have better things to do than haress a guy handing out paper that educates people on their rights as a jury and that is something i would think that the law would want a fully infromed jury. Nothing more ridiculous that the police though.

    • Three police officers for one guy handing out brochures - Give me a break - This is definitely intimidation. If you read the rest of the website its pretty obvious what they are trying to do. The guy even goes inside and asks the politely if they object to him standing on the sidewalk that is paid for with citizens tax dollars. They say no, what are they hiding? WHERE HAS YOUR RIGHT TO FREEDOM OF SPEECH GONE?

    • I'm no fan of the police or the courts, but I read the article and everything seems to have been done properly.

You have to see it from there point of view that jurors are supposed to not have personal opinions on the case there assigned to. And since no one is watching you as you hand out brochures you could get away with trying to influence them. It could also give anyone who looses a case a reason to appeal.

But it seems the police handled it correctly.

    • Government is force. Every government program, law, or regulation is a demand that someone do what he doesn't want to do, refrain from doing what he does want to do, or pay for something he doesn't want to pay for. And those demands are backed up by police with guns.
