Homeless Encampment Near Medical Clinic

Keith_Phelps
This is a homeless encampment across the street from a medical clinic. I filmed this to help shed light on the problem of unemployment, healthcare and lack of affordable medical insurance. Although the healthcare bill was signed into law we as a nation have a long way to go and we need to get there quick. This video is my very first ever made video and audio was removed intentionally.

    • I Googled homeless Earth and saw many sites that deal with people caring about the homeless. My remarks in the video was not intended for them. They were intended for the millions of Americans who believe that the homeless are made that way because they are lazy, or drug addicts or alcoholics. I deal with people everyday who believe that the homeless are homeless because it's their fault. I know this is not true. Thousands of people are made homeless because their suddenly faced with a situation when their expenses exceed their income, which is usally lost due to lost of employment or sudden under-employment, then many lose their property as a result of lawsuits, foreclosures and/or evictions. Many people have the false idea that that is what welfare is for, but in reality the welfare system is so over burdened that it takes weeks to receive a reply. It only take a few months to become homeless.

If that is true, then why wasn't he in the video? Why was there nothing in the video to identify him? Why is he encamped in an area that can be viewed by anyone? I took careful measures not to expose the identity of this person nor to disturb his personal property. Nothing was touched or meddled with. The video was created to try to help people like him and not to harm him. There are so many people still asleep on the topic of homelessness that someone has got to wake them up. It's not in the big cities anymore, it's in the small towns and cities with populations under 100,000. This can happen to anyone, even you. Who am I? I should be asking who are you?
