Lidl is paying out €7,500 to a five year old after one of its shop assistant accused the child of shop lifting crisps. The incident took place in County Dublin in 2009 when the boy was shopping with his mother in the store, the case looked into when the member of staff grabbed the boys arm.

"His barrister told the court her client had suffered injury to his reputation.
She added that, Tadhg, now aged six, had also been caused to suffer distress and inconvenience."-BBC

from my point of view - Reputation can be vitally important. Your reputation often precedes you, and can open many doors in business and personal life. However, if after working impeccably for many years to build an image that people respect, you find an individual or organisation has taken liberties with your good name, then you should immediately speak to a defamation solicitor[http://www.defamationireland.com/defamation-solicitor/].
